Bought my Rivera's in the 90s. R55 combo and a Knucklehead 100. Sadly sold my Knucklehead as the gigging thinned out, but kept the R55. Fabulous amplifiers ! absolutely amazing and incredibly well built and thought out (no surprises there) I would be lost without that tone and versatility. Mr Rivera really is an overlooked genius, so long may he keep creating these sonic gems.
As a kid I was in the room with the studio cats of the 70s and early 80s and grew up with their work ethic and philosophy of the job as my model. Tommy Tedesco had a direct influence on my education at a critical moment. So I knew about Paul Rivera before I understood much of anything technical. Today I could scoop the mids and turn up the presence and make a Deluxe Reverb happen. Back then.. I would not have known what to do with all those pull switches unless my teachers told me. What you offered with that Stage 2 and what is now available in this Stage 4 is music history, sure... but it's THE TOOL for THE BEST STUDIO PLAYERS in history. That means it will serve new music just as well or maybe even better. The release of this amp is, and I get this, hopefully a good addition to the lineup of a music company that wants to do well in the present, but I cannot stress this enough, this release is actually HISTORIC and a RARE opportunity to bypass FADS and get TOOLS that can help a budding musician GET MORE WORK and MAKE MUSIC BETTER for artists and producers going forward. If Sweetwater encouraged this product, you have done working recording guitar players a MASSIVE service. Congratulations to Paul Rivera on hitting another one out of the park!
Rivera amps are killer! I met Paul some years ago, and asked him if he could make the 60-watt combo any lighter. He said, “Well, I could use a neodymium-magnet speaker, and make the chassis out of titanium, it would save maybe four or five pounds and cost $15,000.” So, what does this 20-watt Stage IV weigh? At my age and reduced mobility, I can’t carry much. I had a Twin Reverb in my early 20s, and could barely lift it then-no way I could do that anymore! If the Rivera’s too heavy, I might get a Fender Tone Master Twin or Deluxe.
Looks great! For years my main amp was a wonderful Rivera R55-112, and this one looks a lot like it (cosmetically, at least). It would be interesting to know how this "Stage IV" compares with that older model (aside from the tremolo, of course, which sounds killer!).
Only one thing I don’t get, the sticker labels on the back for the reverb & tremolo. Why aren’t they silk screened? Great interview and history lesson.
Nice work Rivera. That come in purple tolex , a head, and 210s? Weber 10f150t 50 watt, and a 40 watt Alnomico Gold. Come on I know your bored over there lol. J.
Hi Mitch…I just ordered one of those Riviera Stage IV Bad Boys-Errr…STOKES! As usual, as a Renaissance Man, an excellent interview w/ Maestro PJ Jr. Please tell me the exact road case you are using for the amp (I see it open the Bkground) Using a 3 little bears analogy how would you rate the fit ? Thanks Brah ! Joisey Shore Jimi Jazz. Shout out to Stu
Hey, James! Thanks for your interest. The case in the background was just hanging around and the case the amp is sitting on is just to prop it up, neither are actually for the amp! That being said, we do have a Gator G-Tour road case for 1x12 amps that the Stage IV should fit in: www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/GTourAmp112--gator-g-tour-amp112-ata-wood-tour-case-for-112-combo-amps I hope this helps! Hey, Wes - thanks for reaching out. This amp uses a double sided circuit board and yes, it is hand wired! Let me know if you have any other questions. Connor Smith, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1793, connor_smith@sweetwater.com
@@JackNance22 Maybe you judge a little too quickly, don't forget that many musicians are stressed about performing in front of people and that some are not at the level in terms of their talent and are aware of it. If you don't play excellently and make compositions that are just okay, no one wants to listen to you, and I think many people know this, so they don't even try
Thanks for checking out the Rivera Stage IV tube amp with us! Hit those like and subscribe buttons for more videos like this one!
Rivera has always been a killer amp line. Definitely on my powerball wish list
I came to find out about the Rivera Stage IV. I stayed for the awesome interview with Paul Jackson Jr. !
Love my Rivera Fandangos! The sound is stunning and has to be heard first hand.
The presentation, the playing, the amp - all so delicious. Thanks!
Love it. great interview with the legendary Paul Jackson Jr.! The Opry had a backline Rivera, and I always chose that one when given the option :)

John Mayer just needs to play it and it will blow up into the mainstream
Wow, that is a killer sounding amp. And what a great deal as well, under $2k!
2500... Still a great amp and nice price

so is this basically what Lukather and those guys were using for gain/lead tones in the studio days?
Mitch has amazing taste tone and talent

What a guest you got!!!👌
These amps don’t get a lot of press, but wow... what a great sound and value!
My main dude.. Paul Jackson Jr!
Thanks Mitch great vid for what looks like a great amp. Looking forward to his demo!
Glad to see this new model.

Kinda surprising not to see an EVM12L style speaker in most of Rivera's lineup.

Looks cheap too.
Great interview
Cool amp. Am I seeing things or is the action on that guitar really high?
that was some critical opening sounds.
You are aggravating my A.A.S. terribly!
But that might just be the one to replace my Super Reverb.

I hope they will do a 230 volts version for Europe!
Not Bad @ $1,995… A Pair of 6V6's no info on The 12AX7's
People bang on about dumbles but these are easily up there
Better than my old mg
Why no look at the back panel features and a look at that speaker? 🤷♂️🤓

Magnificent
I dig it!
Cool cool cool.
I have one... I must say it is mmm, mmmm, ,mmmmmmmmm... Love it!

Not to be rude, but it's Rivera not Ravira.
What's a stage? I only see musicians performing in front of their computers online, sadly.
ok boomer
@@user-wv5gv3dw5u I'm not a boomer and your comment is irrelevant.
@@JackNance22 ok boomer
Here I am... full of valves in my room :)

Very nice amp but the OD channel sounds a bit fizzy.

Sounds similar to NU X Mighty 8 BT.
This video does not help us hearing the amp
Sounds a bit harsh for a tube amp. I would've guessed solid-state, honestly
