I used to love the whole cyberpunk genre, after reading Gibson's Cyberpunk novel. Nice to see you still branching out ever more.

I love cyberpunk (the genre), but (the anime) cyberpunk edgerunners didn't do much for me.
I associate cyberpunk with slow burn philosophising and thought provoking commentaries on societal and technological development. But this cyberpunk (the anime.. man, what a silly name) was all flashy, sexualised, fast paced action. It was cool, and I enjoyed it, but it's doing a real disservice to a legendary literary genre by wildly misrepresenting it to a mainstream audience like that.
If Cyberpunk (the anime) piqued your interest in Cyberpunk (the genre), Ghost in the Shell, Akira and Battle Angel Alita are three manga (with anime adaptations) that I feel did a much better job, with the former (GitS) doing a lot to define and codify the visual aesthetics of the whole genre.

As someone new to the whole genre, I totally get that this probably isn't the best representation of what cyberpunk has to offer. I'm definitely interested in learning more though!
