This video is from all three of the new arrangement of expo halls on Friday and Saturday morning. It's pretty huge so I packed in what I could. Glad it's useful! There's some good stuff. I'm going to try to get hands on with Path of Exile 2 and Prince of Persia today. There's the Warhammer CRPG in development by Owlcat games. The real star of PAX is always the indie games so I'm tacking a bunch of those and will talk about them on our podcast too.

Are you planning to cover other West Coast stuff, like San Diego Comic Con too?
Nothing else scheduled out here for now but it's possible. I'm thinking more about GDC or PAX East in the spring. Maybe both if they aren't on top of each other like this year.

Yeah. The indie stuff is a highlight of PAX in general. The PAX Rising showcase had some gems this year. Early showing off First Dwarf is an indie I'm looking forward to.

I'm happy to try to answer (here or in our Discord, newoverlords.com/discord). We are a small podcast though so even better, I might be able to suggest a couple others to talk too as well.
Nice video. But sadly PAX is just a shell of its former self. This show is on life support. I went every year from 2010 to 2020. Just getting tickets to the show was an ordeal. Back then the big 3(Nintendo, Sony, Xbox) were there in full force. Every square inch of that space was filled with exhibitors. The parties back then. Square Enix Final Fantasy anniversary party. Dishonored 2's huge party at the docks. Its all over now. It feels like the end of Goodfellas “I'm an average nobody. I get to live the rest of my life like a schnook”.
It's so empty. Like tickets didn't sell out. 2017 was a great year, with Wolfenstein demo and milkshakes at the end. 😋
I've been to the last few (east and west) and this is certainly bigger than it's been in since they had to take a break from having them. The expo is spread across three halls in two buildings this year, more of the AAA studios have returned, and the lines are a problem as far as getting to merch or to play some of the popular stuff like PoE2. Yeah, smaller than 5+ years ago but bigger each year since the shutdown.
@@mpowe123 I remember that year. I still have the milkshake cup from it. There was always a few "must see" big games at PAX and Wolfenstein was a big draw. Same with Far Cry 5 If I remember. Also Bethesda had Fallout 4VR and Skyrim VR playable that was super fun. Good memories...
Update: Sunday afternoon - still 30-60min wait for PoE2, Prince of Persia, even the Owlcat 40k CRPG. 2 hours for Help Wanted 2 and they closed the line. If you are going by my vids, they did make the aisles bigger and half my film as from Friday morning, so yeah, it's pretty busy this weekend. :)
@@NewOverlords They made a good choice to drop the strict Covid regulations. But I think that Covid itself has accelerated the death of shows like this. E3 is dead. The big publishers realize they don't need to waste resources going to these shows anymore. Its really sad. Like lets be honest. If 5 Nights At Freddies and POE2 are the biggest draws... its not going well... I remember seeing Last of Us and meeting Neil Druckmann at PAX. Gearbox and their panel was always a massive draw. I'm not picking a fight or anything I'm just sad that things have gotten like this. Because going to PAX every year with my friends was so much fun. We still talk about all the times we had but its just never going to be the same. :(

Don't know about you guys but when I was at Pax West yesterday I did not see "Anything " I was interested or wanted to play. I've been a gamer since 3DO Era and Super Nintendo days. what happened to games???all corny now.
What are you into? PoE2 is looking good, Prince of Persia was a hit for lots of people, thw Warhammer CRPG is getting lots of attention and looked good, tons of indie platformer/metroidvania stuff was looking good with Biomorph and updates to 30XX on my list there. Probably dozens more but this are some hits that come to mind.
@@NewOverlords You asked " what am I into" as a Old Skool gamer I'd would loved to seen a decent New Contra game, New Battle Arena Toshinden game, New Gauntlet, New Norrath Return to Arms . some good hack and slash games, Side Scrolling beat em ups , shoot em ups on Ps4/5.......enough of open world only type military games. Open World games has been around since 2006 im done and bored with same format games over and over and over and over again since 2006. I want something New and different that's not Open world.
I'm trying to think of any open world games that were at this year's pax 🤔
@@seanlawler9678 Not so much, and I didn't find any true Survival games this year either. Fae Farm is has a little world and exploration, so there's that. I didn't play it at the show and probably should have since I've been following Palia and they share some aspects. I did play an indie in-development game I talked about called First Dwarf (talked more about it in the podcast this week), and that will have a little more of a world/zones to explore and then light city building and tower defense on top of that. I really liked that one.
