I think it's important to avoid an extreme degree of hype, since any industry finds funny and creative ways to dissapoint. Current Valve is just not the same as the 2000s Valve and the fact that their new game is inspired by what's trending in gaming is a sign of that.

You know I think if people actually read the recent interviews these past 2 years with Gabe and other Valve staff they’d be less critical of the company. I disagree. They’re still the same Valve of years back, but they decided to make management changes to their team that were arguably stupid. Deadlock is also extremely fun. It Valve is trend chasing then they missed the “hero shooter” thing by a lot. It’s a phenomenal title.
TF2 only got an update fixing bots because they are making Deadlock. Either the reputation of TF2 servers would hurt Deadlock's reputation so they were forced to fix it... Or the anti-cheat system for Deadlock is compatible with TF2. But they didn't fix TF2 out of the goodness of their hearts, otherwise the fix would have come 5 years ago.
Honestly disagree, TF2 situation was getting critical to the point where the community servers were dying. I think it’s awful silly to imply the things you did. It’s perfectly fine to be critical of Valve but they’ve self admitted major management errors the past few years.

Valve’s return would not only re-revolutionize the industry, but would show the world what gaming could be. There are *hundreds* of things valve could put in, or leave out to make half life 3 a slap in the face to other companies. No micro transactions, a price below 50$, no battle royale mode, no loot cases. Do all of these things and valve would still make bank. I’m tired of seeing the same boring shit getting released. Business men taking the most innovative and unique genres of media and relegating the public image to loot crates and cutscenes, and dog piling onto a trend until it’s been rung dry of all interest. Battle Royales used to be fun. Man, I was so bad at games back around the era when fortnite really took over and I still enjoyed it endlessly! Now I hear the words battle royale and it’s an instant turn off for me. I’m glad I delved into the old valve games in 2020 because I’ll be blunt and just straight up say that those are some of the best games ever made. Diamonds in the rough still exist today, but now it feels like every sequel, every game studio releasing a new title nowadays is like flipping a coin to see if their integrity holds up. You just can’t trust them anymore really. It hurts right now man… it hurts to try and love the things you’ve poured hours into, but when each new game I see releases as a slap in the face to anyone who had enjoyed a video game before.
