That man raised you right! 🎉
100% agreed!
Just wanted to drop a message saying thanks for the guided mushroom foraging Kevin! My family and I had a great time and we enjoyed the bags of mushrooms for several meals. Highly recommend this course for anybody that’s interested!
I am glad the mushroom identification course and subsequent foray were appreciated! I had a great time as well!
I’m not a big seafood fan, but your videos make me so hungry. Thanks for posting!
Wow looked so good. while im eating Panda take out and drooling over the crab.
Your channel is amazing. I learn so much about living in our beautiful state and living and eating from our land. Thank you
Thanks for the kind words and feedback Carla!
My sister and I are heading to the Bay Area in July, would love to take a coastal foraging or mushrooming class while we are there!
Alicia, coastal foraging is definitely a possibility! The mushrooms on the other hand will likely be long gone by that time as they are rain and fog-drip dependent. Hit me up if you want to schedule something!
Keep doing what you have been love the content
Hell yeah! Fine catch and wholesome meal!
Just Awesome catching those yummy looking crabs!!! Fosho
I'm a new viewer and a new subscriber. Great video!
Welcome! And thanks!
Another great video, thanks for sharing.
Nice catches. I thought you were supposed to tie your main line to the same eye the hooks were attached to? Tight lines
That was what I was told too. I decided to try it this way (similar to some of the jigs I used as a kid) and it worked like a champ! Maybe I should spend 1/2 day with it rigged one way and 1/2 day rigged the other way and report back if one is more efficient than the other!
@Catch N Cook California I think if it's rocky, I would rig the other way? It's not just about hooking fish, it's about not hooking the bottom. One hook on each side and the knot between? Either way, tight lines
This coming spring when I find the morel mother lode I’ll fry them up with crappie filets, there’s nothing better seasonally 😅 maybe I could take y’all out in far Northern California.
That sounds awesome! We would be stoked!
🔥🔥🔥
They should have regulated traps like hoops. Last I heard, it was a lawsuit that forced them to mandate hoops only. Part of the reason why I left for WA other than being able to own property up there.
Interesting. I had not heard anything about what led to that decision.
Another awesome video. Thank you!
Nice shirt. Where can I get one. I have been harassed by the rich folk in Mailbu for harvesting on public land.
Thanks! It comes from an organization called "Backcountry Hunters and Anglers" they are a great organization constantly fighting to keep our public lands in public hands to ensure long-term rights to fish, hunt, forage etc. and to limit privatization and potential commercial decimation of these public wild places. A truly great group!
guage breaker!! noice!!
We must have thrown back over a limit or two of legal crabs throughout the day. The ones we were keeping were colossal!
@@catchncookcalifornia1574 And delicious I bet!!😜
I used to crab in Tillamook Bay ,oregon and I would always cook my catch right on the spot using ocean water to boil the crabs. What is your opinion on using ocean water for boiling?
I am all about it. Salted water is key! As long as the water is not from right within the harbor near the boat slips or where the mouth of a creek with questionable runoff hits the sea then I think ocean water is a great way to go for the boil! Thanks for watching!
Awesome videos! And I’m noticing a science trend, what did you get your PhD in?
Thanks! I am an anthropologist, specifically an archaeologist with an emphasis on Indigenous maritime archaeology, North America, traditional technologies, and a sub-emphasis in paleoanthropology.
Hey Kevin, does nasturtium have any lookalikes?
Nothing comes to mind but don't quote me on that. The radish-like aroma, leaf shape, seed-pod shape, flower shape and color variants are all pretty distinct. They are incredibly abundant in the SF Bay Area. If you are local, feel free to email me and I will drop you a pin of a confirmed Nasturtium so you can get a real close look at it.
A can of Wondra flour would be good for your outdoor cooking.
Thanks for the tip! I am looking at the applications right now.
@@catchncookcalifornia1574 just found your channel and I love it.
Conical hoop nets
That makes sense! Never heard the conventional name before. Thanks!
Looks fantastic how come the wife isn’t there to enjoy it with ya
Lol my lady was working that day! She and I had feasted on crab for 2 days straight before I filmed that though.
@@catchncookcalifornia1574 oh so she didn’t miss out on that delightful crab that’s good
Say hey to Uncle Hunter for me!
Will do!
All I can think of is GUMBO
21 day challenge (Naked and Afraid)!
Lol, I like my clothes too much!
Prince Harry??
Lol, I get that from time to time.
I really liked the video but it’s not nice to assume that the fish was pregnant. That was a little rude for my taste.
🤣
Lol I am dying! True though, that fish may have just been big boned.
