Dude, this is crazy! I've seen plenty of videos with the same method for keeping the gold, but this is the first one which allows for keeping the gold AND Elijah's robes, that's pretty sick!
Yeap, it's awesome. You can also take his weapon and anything else he seems to be carrying. You can also keep the C4 too (which you can later duplicate).
I did it differently, before I went into the vault I laid mines and bombs everywhere, got everything in the vault, faced Elijah behind the force field and walked into the force field and if you're lucky you ragdoll behind him and he sets off the explosives and you can walk your way to the exit 😅
That’s what I did… Until I decided that I wanted Elijah‘s shit too! Step 1- Grab everything that’s not nailed down Step 2- kill Elijah when he show up step 3- place everything in your inventory into his inventory Step 4- drag his body to the force shield Step 5- position his body so that it starts to press against the shield Step 6- create a quick save here Step 7- run the gauntlet all the way to where his body is laying up against the shield Step 8- if everything has gone well you can still interact with his body through the shield acquiring all of your stuff and his! step 9- exit the exploding vault! Step 10- begin again and never let go! Bonus step- download a mod so Christine leaves dead money with you, because her staying behind is just FKing ridiculous!
Much easier method - Implant GRX As soon as you pass the speech checks and turn around, just dose yourself with GRX to speedwalk across the room and through the force field before Elijah enters the room.
your sneak level plays no part in the stealth approach, it's all purely line of sight. when you hide behind the pillar you gotta make sure you stay leaning left on the pillar until elijah makes contact with the terminal. Then you can just slow walk towards the gate before elijah can activate the forcefield. the timing is really tight and finnicky if you don't have turbo or implant grx.
Thanks for that, noted. I'm sure it does play a part in the sneak mechanics as a whole but the line of sight does make sense to your point. Also, thanks for the advice. I may make another quick guide showing an alternative to doing this. I actually am working on another one where you can stop time and simply walk through right in front of Elijah.

I got this game when it first came out. It was so buggy I binned it. Now all these years later, I cannot get enough of it. Seirra Madre and Lonesome road, are my top 2 dlcs. Over the last month, I have 2 characters close to the end , with the idea of different endings. I'm just starting a third. Truth is, I'll likely start a forth just to do the dlcs again. Love your work man.
Thanks for your comment and I certainly know the feeling. I will let you in a little secret, I tend to have 3-4 playthroughs going on at the same time. It's interesting playing the same thing but with the view of four different playstyles and roleplay.
I completed Dead Money today and stole all the Gold bars, i used the Stealth approch but without a Stealth Boy( it's still possible just wait that Elijiah is near to the terminal and 'run' to the exit )
I actually just picked up all the gold and used a stealth boy to sneak up behind him and through the door, it took several tries, but funnily enough i was able to just exit the vault just fine even while over encumbered without the collar exploding.
That's really cool. I guess I wanted the dramatic act of running the course and getting the reward at the end. That said I am also working on another way I know that involves stopping time and simply walking right past Elijah, no sneaking at all.
Nope, your not the only one. Many would consider DM to be the best DLC ever. I personally did not like it at first when I first played it. But on the second or third time I understood the appeal of the DLC and it quickly became one of my favorites.

i grab everything that i find in Dead Money, and then Sneak past Elijah, it isnt easy but a Stealth Boy can aid you in a pinch, if you get the timing right, you can make it out with everything. i find it the most satisfying way to finish the DLC, as i "let go" of my vendetta with Elijah, to make it out with it all.
It feels like a calm end to what is otherwise a pretty ugly fight in the end. Me, I walkout with everything including his robes and weapons because I am somewhat of a collector of things.
Wish I saw this sooner. I basically gave up on fighting him AND stealing the gold at once so I sneaked passed him, and he got trapped while I *_S L O W L Y_* made the escape. Never got his stuff though ☹
I tried out to see if I used turbo with my stealth boy to sneak past him after he started interacting with the door terminal and it worked lol. made me just fast enough to get past it.
I've managed to sneak out with all the gold before you gotta sneak really fast and make sure you get to the back entrance before he gets captured by the security system, but it's pretty doable even without Implant GRX or a high sneak
It's extremely hard almost impossible now. He doesn't step through the Door first. You have to kill one turret before he gets out, if you're by the door you explode

My courier was already rich and that casino before this essentially gives the weightless equivalent to gold bars (10k of weightless prewar money worth 9 caps each at a vendor). I still tried to grab all the gold bars but gave up because I kept failing so I ended up only taking 3.
I never could use the stealth behind that pylon? and wait for to him to pass and sneak out and never considered the body trick here. I eventually found a video that shows you go up to the shield and walk into it as he opens it and it will ragdoll you into the room he's coming from and you just walk to the elevator as he locks himself in. Sometimes the the alarm and explosions don't even start before I get out.

I think I did something similar to this. I used a mine to kill him before he actives the barrier then pick up the gold in nearly the same spot you dropped him.
Playing a modded version that burns your AP before slowing you when you're encumbered, so probably won't need this, but always wondered how it was accomplished by people playing on console or something (like i used to).
Am I the only person who just trudged all the way back through the dungeon while tanking Elijah, then killed him right by the entrance? Took a lot of healing, but not as much as I would have thought, on account of his proclivity for ducking behind corners for cover instead of just going berserk on me.
It's funny how much people want this gold. If you don't have the Long Haul perk, even managing to get out literally over half a ton of gold means you're going to have to limp slowly to a vendor to sell it and do a TON of waiting to manage to offload it all. Even if you just carry out the little you'd normally be able to carry, it's still more caps than you can really spend.
That's totally true. The funny thing is that I actually did sell the gold the first time I did this many years ago. Now however I just put it into storage.
@Mikesapien It is but you can also take out rhe guards in Gun Runners, sell their armor and repeat every 3 in game days. That will give you enough caps to buy any weapon you want.
My biggest issue with the Gold Bars has never been getting them out of the vault, but storing them after i get back into the mojave, because ive had the entire stack just straight up disappear from my storages in my player home
@@TrappedInFallout i thought it was, ive had it happen a couple times but the one i remember best was when it happened while i was using the dinolyte hotel in novac as my player home, i stored all the gold bars in the rooms safe because i already had plenty of caps, but once i ran dry and went to sell the bars, they were just gone

Got real lucky, Elijah glitched through the force field allowing me to kill him and escape wit a cool 6 bars, swear I’ve never been so happy to see the Mojave…ntm I started the dlc at lvl 4🤦🏽♂️ off to lonesome road
Was too over cumbered walking through the Mojave going to lonesome road, had to drop a bar plus some dlc armor. Still 50k caps up, good enough i guess , off to sell em somehow

Hi, I will be happy to help if I can. Since your saying that you die after getting items from his body, do you basically run out of time before you are able to exit the Vault? If so then it's happening because your running out of time and you need to optimise your run sadly. There are no other shortcuts other than running the course using sharp turns etc. Also, try to take out Elijah as soon as your able to and put him next to the force field as soon as your able to as that also cuts into the time.

Probably for the smell reason as collecting so many other things and just storing them and never using them - because it's a collectable and it's nice to be able to say that 'I did'.
Oh really, I don't own a console so I can't check for myself but it is still something that can be done on PC. I actually did thus recently on PC, about a month ago I think.
@@TrappedInFallout Yes they’ve blocked the early exit with an invisible wall even if you drop all the bars you have no way of getting to the elevator quickly.
Couldn’t do it 😂lol f*** I think Bethesda patched it up on Xbox, I did everything you said and rushed for the exit but I still can’t carry all 37 it slows me down too much and all of a sudden the beeping gets quicker and kills me. It goes slow if I don’t so I just said to hell with it and ditched the gold bars, spent too much time on that boring DLC.
That's fair enough. It does give a rush for sure and it's fun when you do pull it off. Sadly I don't own a XBox so I can't confirm myself. That said give it another few tries. You may yet still do it and this is not likely to be patched on one platform and not on others.
@@TrappedInFallout hey I retried it and got the bars lol I had to use a stealthboy and turbo and snuck past Elijah and got through the doors before he shielded them.
I've not tried it on console but thank you for the heads up. I really appreciate that. Hopefully one day I will be able to get myself some consoles and ill be able to play them. Currently playing on PC.
@@johnaustin209 tried on PS3 and it doesn't work. elijah doesn't come down and puts up the shield right away and stays there until u destroy one of the terrets.
I can totally understand why you say that, I actually did not like it at first. It was probably on my 3rd or 4th playthrough of this DLC that I realised just how good it was, the story behind it, how it ties to the Brotherhood - and it's raw and claustrophobic/horro nature. Including myself and many others, some would say this is one of the best DLC's around across all Fallout games. Why don't you like it (if you don't mind me asking)?
@@TrappedInFallout I thought lonesome road and the Joshua graham dlc had better stories and the map was a giant maze that sucked with a story I don’t care for and retarted dialogue and I could get past all that if it wasn’t for the radios u gotta destroy like let’s make this the most anoying thing and hide the radios so that I had to die 50 times to get past one area I got to the point I was searching the whole map for grenades to just randomly throw in areas so that I may progress took me forever to get through the scrambler room and like an hour to do the gold bar run which you don’t have to do cuz there are a number of infinite cap glitches in this game 0/10 would never run through this dlc again
@friskeyinkey9024 These are fair points, it's not an easy one and it's also not for everyone. I felt the same way but in the end I started to really like it. I find it somewhat horror inspired and I don't like playing horror based games but the story and creepy vibes did pull me in in the end.

If u have turbo or implant GRX, it helps a lot in giving u times to escape as it makes the countdown slow

Use stealthboy and sneak around him to the entrance he came out of effectively trapping him and making out with all 37 gold bars
Yeap that works too but sadly you do miss out on an additional set of his robes and weapons. But it's still a working way also.

I have just successfully hiest the Sierra Madre casino for the 4th time in life all with different methods this time it resulted with lvl50
It's nice being able to take things that the game was basically designed against.
So many extra steps. All you need is 100 stealth and the stealth suit and you’re fine.

Please. Just the gold? When I played this first time, what wasn’t bolted down I took with me, gold included. The greed was too great to resist.

Got real lucky, Elijah glitched through the force field allowing me to kill him and escape wit a cool 6 bars, swear I’ve never been so happy to see the Mojave…ntm I started the dlc at lvl 4🤦🏽♂️ off to lonesome road
Its nice when things sort if just work out in the end. The universes way of giving back.
Was too over cumbered walking through the Mojave going to lonesome road, had to drop a bar plus some dlc armor. Still 50k caps up, good enough i guess , off to sell em somehow

I just crippled my leg. Carried all the gold. That way. Yea you can walk faster sideways while crippled.
Walking sideways is faster with cripples legs, then walking straight whole carrying too much? I will have to try that and see.

Sadly you. You have to meet the speech checks for each type of check. So the numbers must be at least matching or more.

Is it still possible to get all the gold AND lock Elijah in the vault in order to get the achievement?
I'm sure that it probably is although not sure how you can lock him in as he may be able to get out using the terminal inside.

I tried your approach, but after I get the items from Elijah's body, I keep dying immediately. Can you or anyone tell me why it keeps happening?

Hi, I will be happy to help if I can. Since your saying that you die after getting items from his body, do you basically run out of time before you are able to exit the Vault? If so then it's happening because your running out of time and you need to optimise your run sadly. There are no other shortcuts other than running the course using sharp turns etc. Also, try to take out Elijah as soon as your able to and put him next to the force field as soon as your able to as that also cuts into the time.

It’s relatively easy. Just annoying if you can’t get home dude to die in the right spot.
I know, so many times I made it out but then have to haul the entire thing to somewhere nearby. I dont tend to have player homes in that area as such.

Why go through the trouble to take all the gold tho?
Probably for the smell reason as collecting so many other things and just storing them and never using them - because it's a collectable and it's nice to be able to say that 'I did'.
On next-gen consoles they’ve patched this so you have to take the long way round to exit the vault.
Oh really, I don't own a console so I can't check for myself but it is still something that can be done on PC. I actually did thus recently on PC, about a month ago I think.
@@TrappedInFallout Yes they’ve blocked the early exit with an invisible wall even if you drop all the bars you have no way of getting to the elevator quickly.

Couldn’t do it 😂lol f*** I think Bethesda patched it up on Xbox, I did everything you said and rushed for the exit but I still can’t carry all 37 it slows me down too much and all of a sudden the beeping gets quicker and kills me. It goes slow if I don’t so I just said to hell with it and ditched the gold bars, spent too much time on that boring DLC.
That's fair enough. It does give a rush for sure and it's fun when you do pull it off. Sadly I don't own a XBox so I can't confirm myself. That said give it another few tries. You may yet still do it and this is not likely to be patched on one platform and not on others.
@@TrappedInFallout hey I retried it and got the bars lol I had to use a stealthboy and turbo and snuck past Elijah and got through the doors before he shielded them.

This is basically down to timing and it's certainly hard to do. It may take a few tries sadly. Best of luck.

They are nasty for sure, I tend to ignore them as best I can.
If you have 100% stealth you can easily hide and leave with the money through that door.
That's true but you do miss out on Elijahs robes and his weapon if you decide to sneak past him.

I can totally understand why you say that, I actually did not like it at first. It was probably on my 3rd or 4th playthrough of this DLC that I realised just how good it was, the story behind it, how it ties to the Brotherhood - and it's raw and claustrophobic/horro nature. Including myself and many others, some would say this is one of the best DLC's around across all Fallout games. Why don't you like it (if you don't mind me asking)?
@@TrappedInFallout I thought lonesome road and the Joshua graham dlc had better stories and the map was a giant maze that sucked with a story I don’t care for and retarted dialogue and I could get past all that if it wasn’t for the radios u gotta destroy like let’s make this the most anoying thing and hide the radios so that I had to die 50 times to get past one area I got to the point I was searching the whole map for grenades to just randomly throw in areas so that I may progress took me forever to get through the scrambler room and like an hour to do the gold bar run which you don’t have to do cuz there are a number of infinite cap glitches in this game 0/10 would never run through this dlc again
@friskeyinkey9024 These are fair points, it's not an easy one and it's also not for everyone. I felt the same way but in the end I started to really like it. I find it somewhat horror inspired and I don't like playing horror based games but the story and creepy vibes did pull me in in the end.
