    I'm literally new to the Audio community and 20-30 TH-cam review videos in, I was almost gonna buy the Crinacle tuned Truthear Zero (which I basically found out that he's like a big buy in the audio community and collaborated with a big brand to make it)
    I was kinda sold on the already supposedly good quality and the back story but seeing your review blew my mind.
    I'm glad I typed in the exact keywords of the products I was comparing and found your video. Thanks! I hope I won't regret this lol

      My pleasure. Also please consider that Tanchjim ZERO is a $14 IEM, so as with many other cheap IEMs, there's potential risk of getting bad variants (but so far I have been lucky). Cheers.

    I must say, a wonderful review, Andi!
    I'm so excited when watching this video from start to finish ngl.. as much as how enthusiast you're explaining this to us.
    This video really show us on why we should trust our ears more than just looking at the price and think "the pricier, the better it will be". I remember in your previous video, you admited that EA500 were, ofcourse, much better in term of driver and other aspect than Tanchjim Zero, but there's something special in it that makes you enjoying Tanchjim Z more personally, the sweet spot, that's it! I will not say or think that your Tanchjim Zero rating are bias at all. It's your own preference, based on what you hear and what it gives you and to your music, and to be able to find it in a very cheap IEM is truly gold and absolutely satisfying.
    Tanchjim zero, with such a very lovely anime character, the one that imo, the most beautiful and elegant looking character of all IEM that i've seen, deserve a new better build + detachable cable, they must do it. And offcourse, Andi also really deserve much more subscibers!
    God bless!

    • @donglemadness
      @donglemadness  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Ivn, yes to many EA500 would appear more appealing for the common traits. But to me, it is about finding the sweet spot that works for you. The same reasons many loved BLON BL-03, the "specials" that these type of IEMs offer which is unique to them. For my own usage, Tanchjim ZERO fits like a glove. Cheers

    Andy! Finally finally I got the Tanchjim zero after yet another fan of yours (Polky74) was talking about you and the zero on headfi'. I had tried getting it few times before but it wasn't available and I later forgot about it. (Had got One, Tanya etc from Tanchjim). Paired with fc6, the bass is also tighter and enough for me,(and oh it scales with power!), the zero feels so so good! Balanced, coherent, transient speed,and that awesome spaciousness.. Can't believe it's so cheap.. Love it! I am now alternating between sivga nightingale's velvety veil and Tanchjim zer's crispness for Metal. Rock on Andy!

    • @donglemadness
      @donglemadness  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Lol. Now wait until after 150 hours or so, Zero has thicker DD diaphragm than most, hence why it scales like a planar instead of a DD, but it also mean it takes more time to bed in the drivers. Enjoy!

    hey im new to the channel and got to say i like your review better because of the straight forward and honest review i might say. Based on chart youve shown seems like tanchjim zero very promising for gaming as it scored high on bass, soundstage, imaging and details. From your opinion, it is worth it for gaming especially fps games like cs2, warzone, apex? :)

    • @donglemadness
      @donglemadness  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks. For a bit more of precision and strong holographic imaging which is crucial to FPS gaming, I would always recommend something like BQEYZ Winter or TRN VX Pro, they are the best. So does AFUL P5 and the upcoming Hidizs MS5. These are hybrid multiple drivers IEMs and thus offer superior binaural sort of imaging. But they also cost a lot more than Tanchjim ZERO. Having said that, I still use my Tanchjim ZERO DSP for PUBG and Dead Space and I cannot find fault with the way Zero handles directional sound, so yes it is suitable for gaming

    • @donglemadness

      And that roll-off of the treble extension just at the right place is what I love about Tanchjim ZERO. I already have tons of IEMs that resolve very deep with extensions, but that depth can also be detriment to certain music and in my case, Tanchjim ZERO lack of deep extensions without appearing outright rolled-off is a rarity, especially when used on highly energetic music

    I just got another Zero in my collection.. the Tanchjim Zero. My other Zero is the 7Hz Salnotes Zero. BOth of them are very nice sounding IEMs, and the Tanchjim Zero have better overall sound, especially the mid bass and mids, thus the Tanchjim Zero have 'meatier' mids than the Salnotes Zero. I like slightly brighter sound, but both Zeros with natural and neutral sound are pleasant too.

      The Tanchjim Zero's mids is beautiful, more accurate and presence. Even though I like brighter sound signature, but due to my age, I know I have limitation to hear upper treble region, ie 15 kHz and above. TOday, I just enjoying listening to audio, even from lo-fi audio source such as, AM radio broadcast. I already enjoyed listening to good headphones such as Sony MDR CD-3000 and 4 BAs Unique Melody custom IEMs. These cheap IEMs are gems for audio lovers.
      Tanchjim Zero have a fitting issues such as its hurt my ears a bit for several days. Today, I do not feel any pain anymore. Other than that, its are well sounded IEMs. Thank you.

    1)quantity of bass compared to tangzu waner? Less, more or same level. Mid bass, sub bass levels?
    2)treble: in the fr graphs thr seems too much treble but also seems too much bass so they maybe balancing each other in the overall.
    Does the treble sound in quantity more than WANER ( or tanchjim zero your love the non dsp one😊)?
    3) are the MIDS recessed in between compared to WANER ( or tanchjim zero )?
    I ve WANER so if you compare over it it will be more understanble for me
    I m thinking of buying it(dsp) to my wife: she like much bass and much treble. She needs a type c iem.
    I prefer neutral ( maybe more chu type than zero type like you but after i buy zero my thoughts may change who knows😊)
    By the way Andy the more i watch your videos the more respect and appreciation i have for u. U r great; really great❤
    Thank you man.

      Thanks Erhan, you are so kind. First the strength of Wan'Er SG is the tuning of being natural and organic similar to Sennheiser HD580, while Tanchjim ZEROs are more like AKG K series. Which also means Wan'Er SG is warmer sounding compared to Tanchjim ZEROs. Wan'Er SG Midbass is not as pronounced as ZERO Midbass especially when compared to DSP version, but ZERO Midbass is one of the reasons I love it so much, it has just the right amount of boosting and normally I stay away from Bass heavy IEMs, but Tanchjim ZERO seems to offer the sort of bass that managed to appeal to my senses just nice. Treble is also cleaner and more resolved with Tanchjim ZEROs which is why I compared it against Etymotic ER2XR, which also means it is "brighter" than the warm sounding Wan'Er SG. So if your wife love solid Treble and Bass, definitely I would suggest ZERO DSP. Hope this helps

    How is the fit comparison of Tanchjim Zero and Etymotics?. Having Etymotic HF5 for decade, also my favorite. But everytime I insert coming from days not using it because of the stupidly convenient TWS, I still fell the Etymotic for few minutes. Then back to okay.

    • @donglemadness
      @donglemadness  ปีที่แล้ว

      The fit can be a bit tricky because Tanchjim ZERO is large barreled angled bullet. So you need to play with tips with different sizes and construction to see which one will work with your ear cavity and also producing proper sonic responses. We are talking about dirt cheap IEM here so the ergonomics is not one of its best attributes

      I got the Tanchjim Zero. Now I'm a believer of your take for audio. Driving with Avani and Cayin N5ii. The soundstage score is spot on. Basically your score is my score compared to my etymotic.
      I gotta say, when it comes to symbals, other types of symbal, clapping of hands and especially voccal etymotic sound like the real thing. But only by 1 point for me.
      As to fit I can wear this with no problem, very very light IEM.. It is way better than etymotic, though i hear the surroundings a bit.

In my case with most of my DAC/Anps, I always tune the loudness to 1/3 of and regulate manually depending on how sensitive the IEMs are and how heavy are their impedance rating, there's no fixed rule to volume loudness

    • @donglemadness
      @donglemadness  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Soundstage is in fact the widest among all IEMs I have tested so far and only Final Audio A5000 has wider staging. Tanchjim ZERO even sounds more open and spacious over $3250 Campfire Trifecta or $3500 Shure KSE1500. You are the first one I hear reporting back Zero has no soundstage and in fact the legion of Zero users has found that it is indeed a very open sounding IEM. So I assume either you have a bad unit or the tips you use are not working well with your Zero. It is a $14 IEM after all and may have QC issues which more expensive IEMs can be subjected too

    • @donglemadness
      @donglemadness  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's correct. Tanchjim ZERO has just enough amount of bass to not veer away from being neutral. In fact to many who prefer neutral and Diffused Field tuning, we would prefer the bass to be even less in mass and if I have my way I would tune the Midbass of Zero another 1dB and that would have been perfect. If you are familiar with the likes of AKG K701 or Etymotic ER4S, which is the reference for neutral sound for 32 years, you would notice that there's almost "NO BASS" to be heard hahaha, but that's how neutral and uncolored sound is. What we have nowadays is an army of highly colored IEMs which seems to be the trend that people love, completely understandable
