Wow! Just the other day, I found another series Delta was in called “women of the house”. I love Delta and I’m so glad to have found this, yet another, short lived show. Thanks for posting!
Ms. Delta, You are a beautiful woman, please, please, please, continue in your field. Some women as they age wouldn't be able to pull it off but you can. You are another Betty White, not that old, of course.
They treated her so badly-I stopped watching DW after Delta was no longer on the show. And Beth Grant is one of the funniest character actresses ever-vastly underrated.
I’m from Nashville. We don’t dress like Lavonne here. We aren’t Hillbillies - no offense to any Hillbillies out there. 😉 Also, there’s never been a Blue Moon or such street as East Grand or Graham…or whatever they said. 😂 Come on y’all…accuracy here!
I loved this show! I never missed it and I quote it all the time. I never enjoyed Designing Women like I enjoyed Delta. I don’t understand why this wasn’t better received.
I like Delta Burke but this series was just not a good fit for her. Delta B. cannot sing well. So to have a series where she's trying to make it big in Nashville as a singer was just not working. They tried several things to make the ratings go up. I guess they thought people weren't watching because Delta Burke was blonde so they had her color her hair back to black. Then they changed the emphasis on the series by having Delta Bishop decide she was going to be a songwriter in Nashville rather than a singer. But unfortunately the changes came too late and only true fans were still watching.
Delta was very miscast. In this episode both songs she sings sound bad. They should have selected someone who could sing...like Crystal Bernard or Lisa Hartman. It sounds as if they used Reba to sing the opening song...that tells you how bad Delta's voice is. The actress/singer should have been able to sing the themsong. I don't know why Delta took this role. Delta is great as a comedic actress..but she's not a singer at all.
Yes I just saw this for the first time and I agree. They could keep working with her. She does have the stage presence and she is just so appealing! I'm sorry this show (which I can't believe had Bob Engvall in it - he is such a great comedian) or Women of the House didn't get more of a chance! I have always loved her!

My sense was that they threw this series together for her not long after she was let go from Designing Women.
I wish she had kept at singing, there was definitely something there ! With proper coaching she could have released some hits
