Hey Sam - Thanks for all your help over the years. You've been extremely generous in sharing knowledge without asking for anything in return. Best wishes.
You are the undisputed god of hidden features! I’ve been using C4D since 1997 and that’s the first time ever I’ve seen that feature. Thank you…and is there more?
Subbed immediately. I like your clear style. I was hoping to uncover why all my objects keep coming in so small. I don't want them one inch big! I'm sure there was some way to alter all that that in preferences. Now I will look at your other videos.
@@DIGITALMEAT Not really. When I begin a new scene, if I bring in, say, a sphere, and it’s set to millimetres, it’s size is about 10! Even the slightest increase in size (.01) or doing anything is enormous! I can’t think what I’ve done. This happens in all splines, and objects. Something in Preferences?
So I tried it once more on my home machine and it didn't work but it works at the machine at my office, at home, the spline doesn't change color even when CTRL click and hover on it
Is there a way to make these cuts but have them be selectable splines? Say you're making a cutaway for a product demonstration. You won't be cutting from a simple cube. So is there a way so that the cut area can be hot selected for further manipulation?
Of course! You can obviously do clean up afterwards, or make your cuts on a more divided surface and shift / weld points after. I didn't really want to get into that as this video is a "Quick Tip"
The man is back!!!

That's great to hear! In regards to your issue, I'm guessing your not talking about opening .c4d files, but importing an .fbx or .obj?

@@jean_mollycutpurse_winchester - When you say "Bring in", do you mean create? Are your scene units set to the default cm?
@@DIGITALMEAT basically I can't reset the project scale. When I click on a cube or anything like that, it comes in very very very small.
@@jean_mollycutpurse_winchester - Look in Edit > Preferences > Units, right click "Display" and select "Reset to default"
Best tip
yes this was super helpful cause I created a mountain and want a road in the middle but couldn't figure out how to get that done
So I tried it once more on my home machine and it didn't work but it works at the machine at my office, at home, the spline doesn't change color even when CTRL click and hover on it
that's very useful! thanks
thanks dude! super useful!
is it possible to add edges at the intersection of two objects?
that's my question too. like making cut of the wall for window object. this method doesn't work there
Thank u
Super ! Thx

Didn't know this! Is it recent or was already in Cinema 4d?
Excelente!!

Yes, select the polygons of the cut area, you can probably do this with the "fill select"
IM REALLY LOOKING FOR THIS! THANK YOU FOR SHARING! SUBBED "D
Thanks
same as shape builder tool in illustrator .ty
excelente
💎 tricks
…genius!
Cool
how about a more complicated object
like cylinder
Same story.
If "ctrl" is not working, make your object editable (select it and press "C").
This workflow works more like CAD, now can you explain how to make the splines?
The dropdown Icon at the top, it looks like a pen nib.
don't you hate when you see a cool trick for the first time ever and then realize you already liked it...
...IDK why c4d still bothers having a boole tool at this point
Im sure even the developers of Maxon didnt know this -_-
😅😅
It's not so hidden, is described in the help.
Only problem with this kind of method is the topology. If you want to unwrap is is gonna be a mess.
r21 in 2021...why?
Was about to upgrade to R25, but unfortunately had to spend a bunch of cash on a ridiculously priced GPU, and water blocks 😐
Too bad you didn't have "Show nGons" turned on so we could see the horrible non-quad geometry this process creates!
