    Suspension and brakes will not void warranty....
    Cat back exhaust will not void warranty....
    Anything from the Cat forward (Downpipe/j-pipe, CAI, TGV, EGR, TMIC, FMIC, etc) will void warranty...
    As soon as you flash the computer(access port/protune) , void warranty....
    I have not seen us (Subaru dealership) void warranties for AOS or cooling mod yet.

      Pretty much spot on, but really varies dealer to dealer. I’ve seen dealer deny warranty claims from a simple axle back before.

      My point exactly. It really depends on what kind of mood they are in and the rep of the dealer. There are loopholes around it for sure, but just need to do your homework if one is worried about voiding it.

      That’s not entirely true. The warranty itself will not be voided even if you flash your car. Subaru must prove that the modification caused the failure of the part in question. Modifying opens the door to a claim being denied. It’s all written on the SOA website. But it really boils down to the actual dealer.

      Which is my point exactly. It comes down to the dealer and how they deal with certain claims. As mentioned in the video, if you stroll into a dealer with a motor issue and you have a fully built block, it's going to be denied every single time. Obviously an extreme case, but a good example as to what is meant by "voiding."

      This is true, but the dealer can see when the car was last "flash". So if you go into the dealer and they see the car was recently flashed (whether it be from a dead battery or an actual tune), it will throw a red flag that something is up.

    I daily mine. 2018 and FBO. Great paying job and I couldn’t agree more. Makes 410/390. If you’re worried about warranty... just keep it stock 😂

    Great idea for a video. I had a 2012 STI, did the Nvidia Q300 catback on it, traded it in (no questions asked about the exhaust) for my now daily driver 2016 STI. Now I have my 2016, Stage 1, COBB intake and COBB catback. Lots of maintenance at the dealer in the past for a few years. No one said anything to me. They actually loved my car.

    Ringlands went on my 2020 and Subaru would only cover the engine - no labour - due to having a cat-back exhaust fitted. I didn't want to wait 2 months for a new engine so I had a decent engine build done with forged pistons etc. Best few $k I've spent and now love the car more than ever

    I don’t trust my dealer to service my sti, I can’t have apprentices work on my car for 5 years. Plus couldn’t get a straight answer on what oil goes in my car, parts dept said one oil and service dept said another, so i will staying clear of the dealer. Nice vid man

    No mod Voids your Warranty!
    But a claim can get Denied but NOT VOID!

    • @Autofreakgarage
      @Autofreakgarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This was explained a bit more in detail in the comments. But yes, nothing completely voids the entire warranty. It can be denied, but my point was if a problem with your car comes into play and that part has been modified, they most likely won’t touch it and deny the warranty claim. “Void” is a loose term here, but that is what most people are familiar with. My video was simply to explain that if you are worried about it, stay stock. If not, find a mod friendly dealer and do it right.

    If i connect Cobb access port, can I get readings ? Or I need to marry it with ECm to get just the readings ? Is that will count as the ECm was modified ? Or it counts only when I will load a map file in to ECm ?

    • @Autofreakgarage
      @Autofreakgarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      You do not need to load a tune to monitor data.
