Love your golf videos, Andy, and love your attitude about golf. That Bob Rotella book is great - I recommend it to people all the time! One thing I’d say about Andy’s comment “don’t get frustrated” at the end: if you’re someone who does frequently get frustrated (in golf or in life!), telling yourself to simply not do it will probably be as effective as telling yourself “don’t three putt.” Two key concepts that stuck with me from Joseph Parent’s “Zen Golf” (highly recommend) are 1) fire your “evil caddie” (try to stop negative self-talk by replacing it with positive self-talk, as you’d expect from a great caddie or a friend), and 2) practice non-judgmental awareness (observe when you get frustrated or lost your temper and make note of it, but don’t beat yourself up about it - simply being aware of it and having a goal to limit or stop it can do wonders). If a single person reads this comment and benefits from those ideas like I did, it will have been worth the effort. 😂
Great work Andy. You’ve inspired me to change my approach this year to practice. I’ve been a 7-10 marker for a while now and just not improving. One goal for me is to shoot one par round for 2025. Hopefully with your tips I can grind my way to success!
Im xurrently reading golf is not a game of perfect. So many amazing tips for the mental side of the game. Keep up the good content and let's all get better at golf
Great video Andy, really like your content! I’d like to see a video about the science behind learning and muscle memory as mentioned at the end of the video… I too find stuff like that interesting 😂🤦♂️
I think a good practice round would be the challenge to land above the green every hole. If you are short or pin high, you must play another ball. This would teach a lot about carry distances. But it would also destroy many egos haha.
Really enjoying following your progress from the solid month of training/practice and onwards. Around 2 years ago when I was an 18 handicap I had a serious shoulder injury and had to take a year off. Back playing this year and was around 25 when I came back. Decided to invest in some lessons and spent a couple of months with a coach working mainly on tee play and iron striking. The iron play got better but my driver got much worse, to the point where I couldn’t keep it in play at all off the tee. I decided to stop the lessons and slowly have dropped back into old ways, with some more consistent driving, albeit not as long or consistent as I would like. Curious if you had any frustrations or regressions during your month of lessons, or any lessons following that?
Yeah you 100% go backwards to go forwards That’s what I meant as well with progress not being linear At one point I couldn’t not top the ball 😂 was because I was so used to losing height and falling towards the ball, when I stopped doing that I was suddenly 3 inches further from the ball and couldn’t hit it 😅
I’m a 7 handicap golfer and on my home course there is 2 par 4s I struggle to reach in 2 . One them is just to long and the other is a 210 yard 2nd shot with a burn just short of the green so usually lay up short of it
Takes a lot of discipline. Go to a range and don’t hit a ball over 60% power for the whole sesh. You’ll see the ball still travels just as far when you have the right tempo. But until you see the results you won’t want to do it haha
Swing your irons at a solid 70% speed your bad shots will be much better the great shots are maybe 5 yards further. You can try to say ernie during your upswing and els during the downswing thats the right Tempo. And yeah just watch Ernie Els Highlights...
Swing the club, dot try to HIT the ball. There is a difference. Swing the club let it collect the ball and send it out there. Most bad shots come through people trying to do something they can't physically do.
Sorry Andy but being confident is not better than being good. You could be a 24 handicap and have all the confidence in the world but mess your shot up. Being good gives you more confidence

Any tips for players that are just to strong and try and kill the ball to much?
Remember the ball has feelings too

Rhythm & Timing.
I’m still learning to play golf, want to teach me for a video idea 😂. High handicap to a par or something
If it's straight it's pure

How do I make a golf youtube chanel any tips would be amazing, im 15
From my experience I’d say:
Get about 1.7 million subs on an FUT channel
Then pivot all of your knowledge, experience and editors into golf
Just kidding, just have fun making videos mate
@@AndyCastellGolf thanks man, just need to find a way to record and add s shot tracer and all that stuff
And im like a 14.5 handicap so I might not be very good
This is equivalent of that guy at your club trying to give you tips on your swing
nah, he makes some really good points and the content is enjoyable...... cannot say the same about most of the "guys at the club"
