it probably helps if you have a drum loop idea in mind.. or even beat boxing one just to get a feel of how it Should sound, rather then just guessing where to place your kicks and rolls lol..

Double left click on the snare, uncheck use loop points, right click the snare and select cut itself. That should work :)
