Try making something like souidire
i think it wud be cool if u remake this song th-cam.com/video/ZSK-tOOfB2s/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=CrowderVEVO
Ummmm… Ed, I’m a southern boi who talks fast with a county accent on top of it. With that being said, I don’t need the subtext ☺️😎🥃🥃
Producing Phonk is just so entertaining to me, i never take it fully seriously and i think that is a muchly apprecciated switch up!
I would love to talk to you about your phonk production if you’re interested.
Muchly
even more fun if you lean into the experimental side of things and really throw it all out the window, you can make some crazy shyt

I’ve been a phonk fan for ages, but I never knew the history. Thanks for helping me figure out my favourite music types history 😊
Since when?
@@CSWdenji69 well i aint him but ive been a fan since 2021
i recently got into phonk (since 2022), and my favorite song is Bonkers by staplegun.
I am Russian and I can say that I like the phonk for its energy. It energizes, gives courage.
Like using the word "blyat/d"/bljad?
[Edit: Energy-mismanagement is the root of all evil, that's why I confront concepts of energy-management. Thank me later. 666]

@@vinegar6676 why
@@vinegar6676 maybe you don't get it
at least i dont like swearing
I’d imagine Russia embraced it bc it fits with their musical tastes in general. Similar to Northern Europe they’re brilliant at hard, underground electronic music, their trap is next level. Kind of reflective of their harsh environment.
Yeah
Or maybe because Russian kids back in the day were all on soundcloud 😂 don't know why they were on there
As Russian i feel like we are just hot-tempted (Not sure if it's the right word) and drift phonk is a pefect fuel for that trait.
Russians love street drifting and are gooood at it, drift phonk is like a performance enhancing drug when drifting, only makes sense.
@@gamerdrive5565 I listen to it while playing old rally games
I need more of this, the world needs more EdTalenti's Phonk! 👾
I’ve been wanting to learn more about music history and types of genres in finding my own production style and this video is awesome.
also a tip on the vocals: you can try adding an eq with a telephone effect. just makes it more dirty.
You can also try downgrading the quality of the master using for e.g origin from cymatics
Yeah, phonk beats are basically hard af lo fi beats :))) regarding the sound quality ofc
@@brainderp808 i feel like 120bpm is too low maybe 180 bpm
i personally use Krush (20% mix level) and Degrade (20% mix level) and the mix becomes so dirty
@@prod.bexerk8997 in my opinion 150-200bpm range is for drift phonk, 150-100 for chill phonk
oh my god i always use cymatics origin, it just does the right job
About Russia and phonk:
As far as I know, I’m pretty sure a Russian or Russians had just been listening to phonk, and they began to like that style of music. This lead to some phonk being created in Russia, which caused the genre to spread like wildfire.
To explain a little more, I’m pretty sure some people had found out about it online. The music being online helped a lot to spread phonk.
I think it stems from car mod culture, that originates from the cowbell heavy produced tokyo drift. Russians love their modded cars and tiktok was big on associating car mods with phonk (and cowbells) so the russians got it from there
@@settebello_asr I think the relationship begun before TikTok, at least in Europe. Definitely because of online influence though.
@@user-lt2rw5nr9s way before tiktok indeed, i've been listening for years
As Russian,I agree with you
To me Phonk is to hip hop what Hardbass is to electro. It's grimey, blurry, fast and it blows speakers.
Just a theory, but it kinda makes sense imo
I love your energy. Puts smiles on my face every time.
This was the first video I watched of you and the reason I discovered phonk, thank you so much and thanks for continuing to make awesome videos.
there is actually WHOLE other section to phonk. what you made was memphis/drift styled phonk. people like soudiere, aseri or kloudbug are super talented too
Soudiere and Aseri are the default. People assuming that this stuff is what phonk is tilts me
@@prodfauxes couldnt have said it any better
2:50 do anyone know what this song is called?
@@prodfauxes why do you get tilted, this will happen to music no matter what, people be thinking carti is good music, when like 10 years ago it would have been complete dogshit. Not just rap, but this genre as well.
@@setz7260 because people for years have put their heart and soul into producing Phonk. Met some of my closest friends through the genre and to see it get fucked up like this makes me sad. No matter how much effort you put into it some tiktok moron gonna comment "its not phonk it don't got cowbells."

Honestly loved this man. Could you make some more phonk but ad a different twist on it. That twist is completely up to you. Cant wait if you end up making this
Its always impressive how you play these hihats on your keys man I want this skill so bad xD
Those triplets were stupid fast lmao

Ed Talenti IS a drummer so yeah lol
If anyone's wondering, the song at 2:50 is Pull Up by 6IXMANE

thank you sir

Thank you so much dude. I struggled so f*ckin hard with Shazam cause it was too short all the time...
THAAANKS
Phonk is perfect for gaming. Seeing someone produce it is cool. You definitely have me subscribed❤
Hey Ed, I like the vocals you made. I think it goes well with the music if you add them. But over all, this is really awesome!
Not music related, but this video is on another lever compared to your others. You wen't above and beyond not just learning the music sounds to emulate it, but to teach us some history as well! Thank you thank you thank you!
* Also hat tip to your editor. Bravo!
he actually edit his own videos lmao
Phonk seems somewhat easy if you understand music theory and you can read music and know what flats and naturals and sharps sound like. Also knowing how to count music too. So basically a high school level orchestra or band member could make insane phonky beats.
This is the case with pretty much every genre. the only challenging thing for someone who knows the fundamentals of music is the sound design
You don’t need any music theory to produce phonk, just know how to be in the right key and scale and know how to produce trap beats well etc
@@shanechenmusic1804, being in the right key and scale and knowing what best and measure to put the note in is all a part of music theory.
@@rickylafleur9601 yeah but it’s the most basic stuff ever, you need MORE music theory to produce most other music, phonk is one of the genres that need the least music theory
@@Xenro66 Symphonic Classical or Metal is NOT EASY

BROOOOO you're amazing !!!! Honestly I could watch you all day ! btw which version of the Freddie dread song were you listening too, the original one is slower :/
Anyway, please keep making videos, we need it ! 😎😎😎😎
I love that memphis rap is getting mentioned in the history of phonk
Damn, I would certainly hope so
That'd kinda be like not mentioning Enzo Ferrari when talking about the history of the supercar
@@AlphaJDM fits so well

Wow Ed, your editing skills are getting on insane level now! Great Job!!
I was just noticing the same thing, boy Talenti is improving on the video editing skills. Props 🙌👍
Does he edit or someone else does it for him?
th-cam.com/video/JTf9ZR0mco0/w-d-xo.html
i love learn about the story of things. Nice video
As a Memphian I appreciate how much the old music that I grew up on made it’s way across the globe. What’s even crazier is most of us here don’t even realize there is an entire culture influenced by Memphis Rap lol 🔥
I've been a fan of phonk since 2013. And the thing that disturbs me the most is that there are lots of other styles of phonk which might not be always that aggressive and people don't really know about them. Go listen to Sin, Subitsuji, Saudiere, Shelby. This kind of phonk is meant to be listened in a car but also relax and get the vibe from this deep bass sounds. Not every phonk beat has to be with this cowbell sound.
exactly what I think too. I hate gatekeeping or anything, but I think it’s kind of sad that phonk has become well known now but is being reduced to cowbell-drift bangers that you put in the background of some jdm tiktok.
I listened to Soudiere and Inteus for a long time and only noticed that this laid-back music I liked so much was called phonk, because Spotify Wrapped told me it was one of my top genres lol
Ya I like house phonk which is more like lofi
yeah man, people NEED to have more education on phonk music
Listened to the genre in a car. Can attest its greaat.
@@TheGodlike300 man i remember hearing inteus for the first time, cocaine on the table changed my life forever
Lxst century is what introduced me to Phonk. Their music is so good I'm actually surprised it wasn't mentioned by the person who introduced it to you. Although all of the 3 songs you tried were good as well. To those being new to Phonk I'd recommend Lxst century - Odium, Captive, UNITY, Inspector awaking, kyoto, Vicious circle and cybercity
In my case it was GhostFace Playa introduced me to phonk, but most of the phonk I have downloaded is from KSLV Noh lol
Thats Drift Phonk not normal Phonk
@@nordic24 these new fans will never know
@@TM-fx5le yup
@@nordic24 I prefer that type of phonk to be honest. It just gives me this push. Dunno how to really describe that.

At 7:16 I was so sure you said "next up,we need some drugs"

I *LOVE* watching you make anything. I'm so indecisive and slow and have to turn my beats up in post, but you just go at it full throttle without holding back 👌🏼
Good vibes, smiled through the entire vid :D

That was awsome!🔥

another type of phonk (vaportrap) is a combination of: jazz samples, trap drums with particular sound selection, chopped and screwed memphis rap vocals (huge credit on Dj Screw right here)
Don't forget ambient samples/pads

This sounds great, need a list of all your equipment 🙏🏻
I like yo energy bruh 💯
I love how excited you get as the beat is coming together lol. Thats always a wonderful feeling as a producer. You absolutely killed it bro 🔥❤
I always wonder how he can tap so fast when recording hi hats
15+ years of drumming will do that to you 😂

Wow you motivated me😮😮😮
Sick video! Which program are you wprking in btw?
Tbh the 2 songs that introduced me to phonk were Phonky Town and North Memphis, however in the end I went more in the direction of "Nightdrive phonk" (idk if that's a subgenre?) which is basically phonk but instead of the fast beats it has a more slow and chill vibe to it, I think my favourite songs to this day that represents very well what I mean is "Memphis Tape" by BLADEFEAR
Yes it is a subgenre
You might like "Thousands" by Gali & Puar
Funky Town from LiveLeak
same I really like memphis tape by BLADEFEAR but my fav type of "nightdrive phonk" is either 'GET AWAY II" by "MXRGX" and "NERONUS" or "ERROR" by "DCLXVI". I really like NightDrivePhonk becuase it has that vibe to it that makes it addicting, it goes perfect with night drives :)
what about Memory - BLADE FEAR? you know that?
Before watching this video, I'm going to assume the final product will be Drift Phonk and that is what he'll understand as Phonk music and not what it is at it's base.
bro wtf i was having my dinner , saw your video and freaked out like crazyyy, nice stuff dude !
you're amazing lovee youu

another tip on the vocals would be Bit Crushing them a little to give it that 'classic' phonk vibe, since its really not a too hard genre to make i actually learned it myself quite fast aswell!
Keep up the insane work, lots of love from germany my dude!
Any chance you would like to talk more about your production? I’ve been working on figuring it out myself, and I struggle the most with making the bass sound explosive and aggressive
@@Bittamin Sure thing! So basically what I do is i slightly distort my basses while having a short snappy kick. U couls also boost the lows in your EQ but only if you really have the space for that, its kind of a balancing act. Praxi Plays has an insanely great how to phonk tutorial which helped me out in every step :)
