Are you satisfied with the reliability of your Durango? Sounds like it’s got full power still going!

Hey there friend. Had this truck for almost 4 years but it got hit and that was it unfortunately. During that time I barely ever had issues. If I did have issues they weren't that costly. That being said, the gen 2 Durango's suffer a fatal flaw involving water intrusion causing rod fatigue over time and ultimately catastrophic engine failure. This is the only major issue on the Durangos and occurs only in MY 2004-2005. It can be fixed with an updated windshield cowl before it's too late. Failure typically occurs around 130,000mi and will occur more frequently on a Durango that's been around water more. Transmissions are pretty solid. Electrical is pretty solid. Driveline components seemed awesome even when it died at 165,000. Only ever had to do control arms, EGR valve and of course an engine replacement. But she's never left me stranded besides that uh.. little issue. Thankfully though, I had a warranty and the engine failure wasn't the end of me. Got the engine replaced and the truck was again very capable. Super fun off road and great on road performance especially for a 15+yr old SUV. I'd buy it again! Haha thanks for viewing and hope you find my mini-review helpful. Have a good one.

@4tracc if it's an 04 or an 05 maybe check to see if the windshield cowl was ever updated because that's a steal. That mileage on a limited would sell for around 4-6k where I live.

@@uncannytranny you can eliminate the problem by getting new intake gaskets and using permatex in conjunction with the new new gaskets. It does two things, first it'll help seal when the o ring style gaskets contract in the cold, secondly it seals off the slit used for the intake gasket relief where water can get sucked in. Fear hydro lock no more!.

Ik this is an old video but my car which is 2017 has a bad engine so I picked one of these up for 2400 with 135000 miles can’t wait for the snow but how do ik if the cowel has been done and check engine light just came on what are some reasons for this that may be typical of this vehicle if anyone knows thanks

Look toward the base of the windshield. If there's a gap between the plastic panel at the bottom (the cowl) then it probably hasn't been completed. You can also open the hood and trickle some water onto the top center of the windshield. Watch the water, if it goes through and ends up landing on the engine, you still have a cowl problem.

My ‘04 Limited seems louder and I am running a flowmaster super 10 series with duals. Still have the cats but installed stainless headers when the manifolds were leaking.

@@mikebarbee2217 No worries brother to each their own! I'd be lying if I didn't at least admit it shares some Caravan DNA 😉Fun fact I actually chose this over a 2003 at the time of purchase, which was my next closest option and would've been a Gen 1. Miss this truck!!

@@uncannytranny yours is a Bad-ass for sure...don't get me wrong. I think it's the front end on the older models that makes em look mean. Only thing I don't like about mine is it EATS gas! But I love it otherwise!! Peace Brother!!!
