@edgar mulamula, hey mate do you know about the WHO pandemic treaty? Last year many African countries didn't vote yes to it, which literally saved the world from tyranny. But they are proposing it again. No, this isn't a scam, look it up. I'm trying to think of ways you can all sign a petition to tell each African countries leader, not to sign the pandemic treaty again. Anyone that can needs to stand up, now is the time. Thanks

In 1965-66 Wilt was playing for the Philadelphia warriors. He was top scorer of the league with 33.5 ppg, he was the most efficient shooter of the league with 54% fg pct. He also was 7th in assists with 5.2 apg. They lost to the Boston Celtics in 5 games. Wilt had an elimination game 5 where he scored 46 with 34 rebounds.
After that game the coach told him that he was selfish and that he should change the way he was playing in order for them to win… Wilt did exactly that and he became the leader of a team that won 69 games the next year. He scored 24.2 ppg with 68.3 % fg pct he added 24 rpg and 7.8 assists and now he was playing ferocious defence.
How the fuck did he accepted to alter his game when he was the most efficient guy in the league and 7th in assists? That s maybe his greatest accomplishment

Barkley was great, but I did not like him, back in the day. You have to understand that Bird played with great players as well, in Robert Parish, Kevin McHale, Dennis Johnson and Cedric Maxwell. They made Bird's job a lot easier.
To me, the engine of that Celtic team was Dennis Johnson. He came up with clutch shots after shots, could play point guard, off guard, defend the other team's best guards and small forwards.

Bird played with 2 or 3 all-stars. If Michael Jordan had 3 all-stars from the beginning of his career in Chicago, he would have won 10 championships.
One player that had ever won the NBA championship without any all-star on his team was Hakeem Olajuwon in 1994...he played with a bunch of role players.
Bird wouldn't have won any championship without McHale, DJ, Parish and Ainge. Most were all-stars.

Before Bird came to Celtics they were 29-53. They added Bird (only) and they went to 62-20. He won (3) MVP’s and were in the playoffs every season he played. If you add his points, assists, and rebounds there are very few players who have more. Bird was as skilled a passer as the league has ever seen and a dominant scorer. Barkley has a thing for Bird. You tell me there are 10 players better than Bird. He’s the best I’ve seen at the total game (when healthy). Magic wasn’t a scorer and couldn’t create his own shot. He was a liability on defense. Bird was a great team defensive player and was 2nd team ALL defense twice.

Bird (pre injuries) was the best well rounded basketball player anyone had ever seen. He was better than the Great Magic Johson, (better defender, Scorer, Shooter and near as good passer). He and Magic literally upgraded the whole sport thru their popularity, rivalry and creating a new generation wanting to emulate them. As well as raising the pay level for all so that more of the better athletes would be attracted.
Barkely was a Great player, one of the greats. But was a nodge or 3 bellow bird on everything but rebounding. At times he has shown his resentment and jealousy of Bird(other times he doesn't) Which is one of the fun and unnerving parts of The Round Mouth of Flabber.
Bird was still one of the best post those serious injuries, but he was the best when it was most pivotal for the League. He and Magic are 1 and 1A in that regard.

Sure he didn’t average as many assists as much but Magic had the ball in his hands a lot more regularly. Go back and watch any highlight clip of Bird passing and it’s literally otherworldly and astonishing! He saw and anticipated open teammates that no one could see. Asking top 5 with the idea that they have to work as a team changes a lot of things which a lot of people here were doing. Trying to build a traditional roster. So like KD, you can do a positionless all time top 5 or you can do a huge twin tower top 5. You wanna roll out Shaq and Wilt on the same team or you wanna roll out MJ and Kobe on the same team. It's all up to you and it can constantly change. Can you put Hakeem, KG with PIP, MJ and GP for an all timer defensive unit? Will they have enough shooting to compete with a small ball lineup of Duncan/Bird/KD/Kobe/Curry for example? What about giving a traditional PG like Magic a shooter like Curry at the 2, with floor runners like LeBron and Karl Malone and a Kareem for half court sets? The possibilities are endless and it's beautiful.
All i know is i want to pair Jordan with Hakeem any time i make my list, it adapts to building around them. Bird or Dirk at the 4 to stretch the floor, or KG or Giannis for more size and versatility? If i had a LeBron at the 3, do i really need a Magic at the 1? Or do i want a floor general like Magic at the 1 and just need a 2 way unselfish star at the 3 like Pippen or Kawhi? Is Jordan/PIP on the perimeter and Hakeem in the interior enough D that i can sacrifice some and put Curry at the 1 and use Joker as my 4/5 to run the offense? What if i sacrifice even more and put Bird at the 3 and let both he and Joker take turns running the offense with Jordan and Curry constantly moving off ball and Hakeem setting screens/able to pick and pop or 4 out and let Bird or Joker hit Hakeem or MJ taking ISO turns in the post? Would Joker and Bird and Curry on the same team be a defensive liability even MJ and Hakeem?

Let me start by saying that I'm in my 60s, and I've been watching the NBA for 55 years. That said, here goes:
WIlt Chamberlain at center. (Actually much more dominant in his time than Shaq was in his. Sorry. They changed rules because of Wilt. There was only one man who could really guard him, and even that was later in his career...)
Tim Duncan at power forward. Definitely could be a lot of people, but his combination of defense and offense - and the total calm control he would give the team - make him indispensable. A heavy nod given to Kevin Garnett: we tend to under-value the superstars who toiled on fairly useless teams, with no talent around them. (I'll get back to that shortly.) He was buried on Minnesota all through his prime.
Larry Bird is going to be my small forward. He's versatile enough to cover tha, and I want his all-around game on the floor for me. One of those ice-in-the-vains-as I-spit-in-your-eye guys. Besides, his trash-talking is worth the price of admission. Should Kevin Durant be here? Charles Barkley? Yeah, probably, but I can only pick one dude...
Lebron James is going to be my point guard - and I'm kind of a "James hater" (never got over "The Decision"; such BS for profit... Way to take the marketing of the NBA to another level; one that most fans can't really touch. This is the beginning of the Ultra-Empowered Diva Superstar era, from which the Kyrie show is a logical progression. But I digress...). But facts is facts, and James carried some really shitty teams on his back to places they could never have dreamed of going. You could definitely say the same of AI - or Steve Nash, or Jason Kid, or Pistol Pete Maravich (just to name guards, right?), but I'd have to take Lebron over any of them, so Lebron it is.
MJ is my shooting guard. Again, facts speak for themselves. I'm not even going to talk about "historical" superstars (Jerry West or Reggie Miller - another superstar buried on a sub-par team - for example), but in a straight-up trade would you rather have MJ or Steph? I'd have to go with MJ. The only other person I might choose instead would be Kobe: another killer of the same ilk as MJ. But I can only choose ONE, so MJ it is...

The most under rated subject when evaluating 'The Greatest' is mental strength so players who couldn't hack sticking with the team they were drafted and build an empire around them is one of the things I rate the most. Players like Lebron and KD kept floating around trying to get there money and buying championships. Can you imagine if Hakeem and D. Robinson or Bird and Karl Malone decided to team up. That's why I do not have Lebron in my top 10. That being said my top 5 are Jordan, Bird, Magic, Kareem, Wilt; then Russell, Hakeem, Curry, Shaq, D. Robinson; then O. Robinson, Kobe, Duncan, I. Thomas, Karl Malone, Lebron (Lebron is the most over rated player ever, he cries at every touch foul, bales on teams when the going gets tough, and the era of players ahead of him would have had him in diapers sucking a pacifier

Considering that basket is a game played on both ends, and that what you do on the defensive side matters as much (although way less fancy) that how you run your offense..
I would definitely go with The Stock, His Airness, Larry Legend, The Big Fundamentals, The Dream. I love Magic but he's always been a liability on defence. Shaq was absolutely unstoppable but for a too limited amount of years (the 3peat years). You could switch LBJ with Larry or Timmy, or Wilt/Kareem with Hakeem and still would get a hell of a team. But that would be my paradise squad.
