The funny thing about dragon eggs is that, originally, according to the manual, the idea was that dragons are an all male race and the eggs are created magically in the homeland of the fairies, who bring the eggs to the dragonlands during the "Year of the Dragon" (once every 15 years), according to the Spyro 3 manual. But aside from that being retconned in the Spyro games where Cynder was a thing, it also doesn't make sense in Spyro 3, because a) you find female hatchlings in that very game, and b) the whole reason Spyro is sent to retrieve the eggs is because Zoe and her fellow fairies can't lift the eggs.
"A Hero's Tail" and "Shadow Legacy" also had female dragons. Hero's Tail also had a dragon elder that was probably gay, the one that teaches Spyro "pole spinning".
Honestly, if I encountered the Firework Factory music while playing laser tag, I would probably be so hyped that I would never stop playing and go super saiyan mode.
I think "Every copy of Spyro 3 is personalized" might actually be a cheeky reference to Spyro 3's dynamic difficulty system. Because the game was quietly adjusting its difficulty settings depending on your ability as a player it would be possible to go over to a friend's house who was playing much better or much worse than you and actually have the game behave differently.

Adult Spyro reminds me of that tidbit of development information for Skylanders Spyro’s Adventures, where it was originally called Spyro’s Kingdom, and Spyro was to be an NPC all grown up that would give you missions.
I dont know if anyone else has mentioned it, but the "Spyro problem" was actually going to be the plot of Enter the Dragonfly, but due to the extremely heavy crunch put on the developers by Universal, Gnasty was cut from the game and only Ripto was present, i guess since he's a more iconic character than Gnasty. I dont remember where i originally heard about it, but searching around you can find proof of this on IMDB and old product listings for the game stating that "Gnasty and Ripto have teamed up". Im sort of surprised not to see a single comment on this, but i guess i cant blame people for not knowing that little tid bit of information since EtD is fucking awful lmfao.

I doubt it. This is likely a case of integer overflow, similar to "parallel universes" in Super Mario 64. The more obvious way to display a world without mobs is to just not load them.

I doubt it was ever considered seriously at any point until they grew attached.
Love to see someone do an iceberg video on the Legend of Spyro trilogy. There's a bunch of unused stuff as revealed by the concept artist Jarred Pullen, for instance there was originally gonna be a mechanic where we would find pieces of Ignitus' old war armor and for every piece we find, he would open up more to Spyro, giving us more about his backstory.

The personalized copies of Spyro 3 must be the ones that the game itself recognize as "not legal copies" through an effective anti-pirate system. I have experienced this one myself and it prevented me from actually beating this game for years. While there should be another way around this system by now, I was left with no choice but getting an original disc of this game. Players that just discovered Spyro with the Reignited Trilogy might never know what this felt like

I've long been of the personal belief that the two dragons behind Spyro in the first game's initial ending were his parents. That and Zikomo from Dream Weavers was the sole female dragon in-game.
In the original manual of Spyro 1, it is said that Spyro and Sparks came to the dragon world as eggs and ended up in the peacekeepers' world. This seems to hint that Spyro comes from a far-off place.

Fun fact about Distorted Reality from a weeb: Yuki Kajiura, known for her various compositions for anime as well as composing the songs for Kalafina (which in turn are also used in various anime series), has also used Distorted Reality samples in her songs. If you've listened to Kalafina, FictionJunction and other songs by Kajiura or watched anime like Garden of Sinners/Kara no Kyoukai, Fate, .hack etc you've def heard them. Open Your Heart, used in .hack//Sign, is probably the best example, as you'll clearly hear samples in it which Copeland used in Idol Springs. Fairytale by Kalafina is also another good example as in the beginning you'll hear a sample which was also used in the cutscene in the original version of Spyro 3 where Bianca brings a dragon egg to the Sorceress (although that one is compressed bc hardware limitations, but it's clearly the same sample).

I’m working on a huge project that’s a mixture between a documentary, retrospective, and iceberg, and this has reminded me of a few things I’ve missed in my script so far, especially the Fireworks Factory laser tag bit. I vividly remember thinking that was the coolest thing ever as I played it years and years ago.
To add to the Year of the Dragon part of the iceberg, the platinum trophy you earn for collecting all the trophies in the Reignited Trilogy version of Spyro: Year of the Dragon is called Party Like It's 2024; and, 2024 is the next Year of the Dragon.

There is a secret teleportation gate in 2 level on spyro3. - One when you fly swim (water glitch) in the level Dino Mines, there is a secret gate to an "test minigame" behind the montains. - Behind a montain in the level Crystal Islands (i ve see in a video there is 10-12 years ago.
I actually like Enter The Dragonfly, too. It's a game with ALOT of potential that Universal screwed up badly. Story's unsavageable, but the gameplay itself is indicative that ETDF could've been Spyro 4, at one point in time. I remember playing it alot as a kid alongside the original(GOATED AS FUCK) Spyro the Dragon. Lol.
A bit of a personal theory, but I think in spyro 2 Money Bags is unfairly treated and might be the good guy. If you 100% the game and get every single gem, you effectively end up wiping out the entire currency of this alternate world and abscond with it to dragon shores. Money Bags is the only character from the Spyro 2 worlds that gets gems back from Spyro, only to be forced to give them back to Spyro in the ending cutscene, relinquishing the last of the Avolar treasury.
The whole "where do dragon eggs come from" thing is actually addressed in the Spyro 3 manual, which mentions that the fairies bring them. I guess maybe some of them function as the storks of the Spyro universe. Something that I never see anyone point out: in the PSX version of Spyro 1, the balloonists look nearly identical to the enemies in the Gnorc Cove level, perhaps meaning that the balloonists were friendly gnorcs.
Don't know if it was meant as a direct reference, but in the message rhe sorceress leaves spyro at agent 9's level in fireworks factory before he's unlocked, she calls him "Spiro" possibly referencing Spiro Agnew
I have a headcanon that once upon a time, a lonely and bored dragon used a spell to turn some gems into a new friend - a gnorc friend! Sadly, he was bullied a lot because he was "ugly" and not like other beings in the dragon realms, so over time he and his dragon friend grew apart and this gnorc went down a bad path, thus becoming gnasty gnorc. :(

yeah Crash 2 and Warped did a similar thing where it would create new checkpoints or make certain obstacles easier if you were having a hard time

Fun fact about Distorted Reality from a weeb: Yuki Kajiura, known for her various compositions for anime as well as composing the songs for Kalafina (which in turn are also used in various anime series), has also used Distorted Reality samples in her songs. If you've listened to Kalafina, FictionJunction and other songs by Kajiura or watched anime like Garden of Sinners/Kara no Kyoukai, Fate, .hack etc you've def heard them. Open Your Heart, used in .hack//Sign, is probably the best example, as you'll clearly hear samples in it which Copeland used in Idol Springs. Fairytale by Kalafina is also another good example as in the beginning you'll hear a sample which was also used in the cutscene in the original version of Spyro 3 where Bianca brings a dragon egg to the Sorceress (although that one is compressed bc hardware limitations, but it's clearly the same sample).

I’m working on a huge project that’s a mixture between a documentary, retrospective, and iceberg, and this has reminded me of a few things I’ve missed in my script so far, especially the Fireworks Factory laser tag bit. I vividly remember thinking that was the coolest thing ever as I played it years and years ago.
To add to the Year of the Dragon part of the iceberg, the platinum trophy you earn for collecting all the trophies in the Reignited Trilogy version of Spyro: Year of the Dragon is called Party Like It's 2024; and, 2024 is the next Year of the Dragon.
I've got an iceberg in my downloads file that nobody's covered yet... I think this has inspired me to make a video of it. :P

I might be remembering wrong, but I’m pretty sure one former employee recalling an incident where a dev and the manager got in a fight in the office and the manager tried to push the dev out a window.
That Fireworks Factory section reminded me of a comment I saw about a laster tag arena using the main menu music from the video game tie-in for Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 1. I remember it's located in Scotland but I forgot its name.

On "Gnasty Gnorc was made from gems" - If the pots found in Cliff Town that the fat ladies would stir had gems in them, and the Gnorcs were also made of gems, wouldn't this imply that the stew was made from Gnorcs therefore making them cannibals?

There is a secret teleportation gate in 2 level on spyro3.
- One when you fly swim (water glitch) in the level Dino Mines, there is a secret gate to an "test minigame" behind the montains.
- Behind a montain in the level Crystal Islands (i ve see in a video there is 10-12 years ago.
I actually like Enter The Dragonfly, too. It's a game with ALOT of potential that Universal screwed up badly. Story's unsavageable, but the gameplay itself is indicative that ETDF could've been Spyro 4, at one point in time. I remember playing it alot as a kid alongside the original(GOATED AS FUCK) Spyro the Dragon. Lol.
A bit of a personal theory, but I think in spyro 2 Money Bags is unfairly treated and might be the good guy. If you 100% the game and get every single gem, you effectively end up wiping out the entire currency of this alternate world and abscond with it to dragon shores. Money Bags is the only character from the Spyro 2 worlds that gets gems back from Spyro, only to be forced to give them back to Spyro in the ending cutscene, relinquishing the last of the Avolar treasury.
No need to go more than the top of the iceberg to know horns and swords has blood on it, I noticed it by myself during my childhood.
The whole "where do dragon eggs come from" thing is actually addressed in the Spyro 3 manual, which mentions that the fairies bring them. I guess maybe some of them function as the storks of the Spyro universe.
Something that I never see anyone point out: in the PSX version of Spyro 1, the balloonists look nearly identical to the enemies in the Gnorc Cove level, perhaps meaning that the balloonists were friendly gnorcs.
I mean, there were friendly gnorcs in Dragon Shores...

I have a headcanon that once upon a time, a lonely and bored dragon used a spell to turn some gems into a new friend - a gnorc friend!
Sadly, he was bullied a lot because he was "ugly" and not like other beings in the dragon realms, so over time he and his dragon friend grew apart and this gnorc went down a bad path, thus becoming gnasty gnorc. :(

Spyro 3 was me and my sisters first and we always assumed he was Spyro's dad, as he's also purple.... then I found out that he was green in the first game and Spyro was ALSO originally going to be green........
