Despite this very strong negative opinion on the subject matter, I still watch and enjoy all of your videos about these games that aren't a livestream. You have a great talent!
I know that the devs shortened the range that Sparx can collect gems on and also removed his ability to collect gems while Spyro is on the air. I wonder if they did that just for people to be able to try this.
@@irabbit_ Spyro hasn't been patched in a few months or whenever it came out on the Switch was the last time it was patched. At this point why patch the game it's not hurting anyone for people wanting to exploit a game for a WR or just speedrunning.

Although I know next to nothing about the Spyro games, I have to admit your commentary is really enjoyable and I'm thinking of playing the original PS games now.
10:36 since you're on a timer; I imagine physically the world of level storage is full of toxic gas, and even dragons will run out of breath and die here.
There've been plenty of games where I've just casually fallen through the floor, or brute forced my way out of bounds by bonking walls incessantly (I swear that has to be some reflex you just get from old 3D platformers). Actually, I don't really remember playing any games I couldn't wiggle out of bounds in some weirdly intuitive way, at least in the "3D walkaround" genres. I just think the people who set up Autumn Plains' collision deserve a box of good donuts.
Technically, you can't do that in Super Mario 64, but that's because "out of bounds" is actually a defined area, and it both has the property of stopping Mario if he tries to move into it, and if Mario finds a a glitch that lets him bypass that (there's one in Bob-omb battlefield, for example), a second safeguard activates at the start of the frame, and instantly kills Mario. Everything in SM64 is "skybox", not out of bounds.
Long time no see! Currently working on a glitch video for this game, that loading zone pause glitch is included but I don'tttt think I'm going to be adding anything as in depth as this to the script haha! Another great video, your channel is definitely one of the ones that should peak everyone in gaming's interest, man! Keep it up!
I am genuinely amazed by some of the ways the speedrunning community gets past what developers have in place to avoid breaking their games, I respect the ability you have to see into the game in ways the developers probably didn't expect. Here is an idea, a list of easter eggs found during speedruns/because of a speedrun. There has got to be at least once instance where someone clipped through a wall or bad texture and found something odd.
Me when I heard about Reignited Trilogy: "Huh I bet Spyro 2 will be harder to speedrun without the Double Jump" Me after watching this: "Dear GOD I was wrong"
Hell yes. Keep the vids coming. I love your content more than anything else on TH-cam. Your merch is the only merch I’ve ever purchased and I put about an average of 6hrs a day on TH-cam between about 40 creators (if I had to guess). Thanks for the incredible content. Typing this during ads so I can run the full time on them! Woohoo! Lol. Okay bye!!
This is the construct. It's our loading program. We can load anything from Autumn Plains objects to Gulp boss fights, death planes and invisible walls.
DUDE! I just picked up Spyro 2 again because I felt like playing some old games during quarantine. A few things: 1) I was unaware of how intense speed runs could be. 2) It just never occurred to me to make use of glitches productively. Remember when you were a kid and you played a game and suddenly clipped through the floor? And how frustrating that was if you didn't get to save your progress first? THAT being put to any purposeful use is mind-blowing to me, I had no idea it could be done until just now. 3) Finding a way to make a power-up a permanent ability?! I first saw it on a speedrun video for the original for PS1, actually right before watching this video, and if that wasn't enough, to then come here and see him use a separate game file to do it on Reignited in a really clever way... JFC. 4) That weird Speedway from hell! Floating speedway objects and shit! I actually saw that speedrun video for PS1 and thought, "wow, would be cool if you could do the whole thing with no gems..." and wouldn't you know it? Here it is. Lastly, I just want to say, you guys doing this stuff are like warlocks. Freaking bending reality and breaking height barriers and finding death planes (fucking cool shit) and just... warping space and time. Fuck, man. I'm totally blown away. If I weren't such a spaz with a controller I'd like to try this stuff myself, but alas I will just sit back and enjoy watching these true geniuses work.
You can use superflame to skip Glimmer's 100 gem bridge -- First, make sure that you kill ten enemies to activate the superflight gates. (I think it's ten..) Then, just light the torches inside. You'll need to aim get em, but its not very hard. After you light the torches, the cutscene will play and you will spawn with the guy that gives you the orb for this. You can then just take the superflight and fly across.
This is awesome :O Very interested in doing that run myself, what would be the best method to learn the entire route and glitches (I got no experience in routing/running the game)? Also, is every physical release of the game v1.1? Only got it digitally so I would have to buy a physical copy ._.

As this is the reignited version... I suppose the glitch popping you out the speedway gate makes some sense because of the flight animation between worlds. I noticed that unlike the original game all the flight controls kinda work during loading. Including the air roll and flame.breath as well as pitching. So I assume glitches to do with what world you should be in pair with that flight animation state being active... which if you were in any level it would only make sense to a speedway.
Next video: is it possible to beat spyro 1 without collecting gems and dragons? and is it possible to beat spyro 3 without collecting gems and dragon eggs?
You may find this strange, but for Spyro 1 you only need 10 dragons to beat the game and no gems. As for Spyro 3 - sadly you can't. Even if you pick up level storage - there is no way to bypass even at least 100 eggs cause there's no skip to Sorceress door. But level storage greatly speed up the game so it's better than nothing :)
3:11 You already collected gems in the other save files, thus rendering your challenge failed. If we can use other save files then just load one up right before the final boss.
@@Drianikaben No, the entire point of the run is to get through the game without collecting gems, orbs, or talismans, which he immediately fails in Glimmer, by collecting the Glimmer talisman.
I'm willing to bet that each level is assigned a value, say 0 to 255 and Spyro has a set state he exists in that has a number corresponding to which level he's in at the time. Because you can only enter a level from a specific point on the map, it's easy to make it so that in Zone A your value is one, and to go to Levels 1-4 you would enter through the arches. Each level would increment your counter by a set number for its value, so level one would be +1, level two would be +2, etc. Leaving the level would just increment your counter down however much it was incremented up to send you there, so -1 for level one and -2 for level two, etc. I'm willing to bet that when you pause and the game thinks you're in the level, it hasn't incremented your level counter up yet, because when you unpause you're still entering it. But when you hit exit level, it increments your counter -2 or -5 or whatever, without actually incrementing it up at all. That's why it sends you to a seemingly random location, because you incremented the counter backwards.
How about trying to do something similar in Spyro 3 Reignited Trilogy, with the Infinite Flight glitch carried over from Spyro 2 into a new game of Spyro 3. I doubt that it's going to be both gemless and eggless though, It's a completely different game from the classic PS1 version of Spyro 3, as they removed the duplicate invisible portal entrances in the remaster.
So this went from "you can skip paying for the bridge with this simple trick" to "let's do this glitch that requires a save file with the game halfway completed, control the speedway timers and many invisible walls and bugs". That's quite something.
*sees title* Wait, CAN you?!??! I mean, I wanna screw over Moneybags as much as anyone, but it’s basically almost impossible to beat the game without him!
I'd presume the speedways were the last things built, they're not relevant to story, they're just side missions, presumably giving them the last sequential number before the boss fight (e.g. Ocean Speedway is 7, Crush is 8), possibly just a programming oversight.
