Opportunities perceives as malfunctions of reality and the resulting disequilibrium must be seized regardless of costs or consequences (carpe diem).
Lack of impulse control, disinhibition, attentional narrowing.
Rise of narcissism in modern civilization renders other people a burden or even dangerous.
Narcissists and psychopaths are over-represented in mission critical professions.
Narcissists and psychopaths in the family and among friends, on dating and in the workplace makes self-sufficient atomization and solitude the only survival strategy if one abjures narcissism.
Schizoid men saw the business opportunity in such social trends and developed technologies that are asocial, mislabeling them as social.

Remember Dr. Vaknin is a Clinically diagnosed sociopath himself ...he sees in black & white. There is an in-between. It is ALL a Spectrum that depends on where you are in life, in other words it fluctuates.

I am a medical doctor (MD) from India.Sometimes i find it extremely difficult to hold back my emotions when i see something very corrupt to the core happening in the medical field and people just ignoring basic patient care.
Many a times i am and was very vocal about malpractices and lack of ethics which people in the practice should follow as being a caregiver and not even properly communicating with the ailing ones ,i find it so disturbing that it actually sometimes torments me from within.
I had tried the stoic way of dealing things but again i can't stand when a genuine fault and utter ignorance to someones health is there.
I dont know man whether this aggression of mine is good or i am just over exaggerating my emotions sometimes when something bad is happening.
Your anger is based on a natural instinct due to a perception of injustice. As a professional you are concerned about malpractice. At the same time you need to be professional & objective & follow the proper procedures. If patient care is inadequate the staff need proper training. If they don't follow protocol then they will need to be sanctioned or removed from their post.
Thank you for your insightful analysis of the reason behind the societal downfall and systemic failure we are witnessing.

I've been affected by both types. My initial response was to isolate. However, I seem to have some live and kindness left to give. Hopefully I can keep my eyes and ears open before I become entrapped by more.
The one I had experience with called these fantasy portals - potential opportunities and forks in the road. He called one “same old shit road” and the other one “crazy new shit road” Would veer off down the fork in the road, then when things got hot, return to the boring main pedestrian road. He also used the word pedestrian to describe it. Always restlessly bored when not forking off the road.

Are there any strategies to rejoin society and retake the reins in a healthy and proactive way for someone who entered the state of self isolation as a coping mechanism? Or is therapy the only option left? If the schizoid state inhibits growth and the pursuit of independence, then the „cure” is worse than the disease.

I resonate with a lot of what I’ve heard you say about narcissists, but most of the time I’m extremely inhibited by social anxiety. I was definitely destructively impulsive as a teenager, but as I’ve gotten older, I’m more cautious. Can narcissists become better at controlling impulses? Can morality become part of a false self? If I decide I don't want to be the sort of person that behaves in a way that it's a threat to my idea of myself, can that be a way to become less harmful for narcissists?

around 1-3% are diagnosed with NPD and 1% are diagnosed with AsPD. But many more are narcissistic or psychopathic (have a subclinical narcissistic or psychopathic style and/or dark personality).

Could this be a brain development during the early stages of life, I forget the drs name but he’s a theorist who came up with the theory of the first 1000 days of life and it’s connection to attachment disorder

consider my narcissism as a form of post-traumatic stress disorder, if you feel that people did things to you maliciously, heartlessly, you consider them evil or irredeemable. Need for control against a world that you perceived as essentially hateful and unfair and therefore you would prefer fear and that is why you are not abused or taken advantage of.

What you're describing isn't really narcissism though, it's a defensive mindset to perceived hostility that may or may not be there.
