I can see both sides of the story. On the one hand, some are driven to reproduce and/or admire a photographic like rendering, and yes it takes a lot of talent and practice to do that. Centuries ago, that was the only way of getting a close likeness and I think that's where the mindset stemmed from. But with the development of photography, it has become pointless, and you might just as well take a photograph if an accurate rendering is what you want. Having said that, I'm still hooked on trying to render something that looks like the thing I'm seeing. I don't know why - maybe I've convinced myself that the more I strive, the more I will improve, instead of relaxing and enjoying the process. I keep telling myself to produce art, not photographs, but I still keep trying to produce the photograph, even though I know I'll never be that good.

I agree. I think when you are copying a photograph it's a bit easier to see which bits need to improve to look more like the reference, however with abstract and abstract realism, it's more tricky trying to figure out which parts aren't working. I can see why us artists evolve and move through the different styles. I think it's a balance between pushing yourself and pushing too hard that it just becomes so frustrating. Enjoying the process is so imporant, but sometimes it's easier sad than done! Keep going 🥰

My heart goes out to you with your current health issues. Sending prayers and lots of love your way. Stay strong.✨🙏✨🪶🪶🪶
I really love that you've decided to follow your heart and go in whatever direction you want with your art. I just found your channel and saw your colored pencil owl, so I had to come and see what else you had out in your videos. I absolutely am in love with your Harmony piece. All the others you shared are beautiful too.
Ive always worked with regular pencil and ink pens, so mostly black and white and gradients. Not schooled in art, but I do so love it. I took on pyrography, and soft soldering for jewelry, and in the last couple of years took up power wood carving and chainsaw carving. Lol, 😅 I want to try so many things! I love them all though. Most recently I am teaching myself to paint using acrylics, watercolor, and also UV/LED nail gel polish. Totally different mediums, but again, I love learning them. I've never really worked with color, so I'm looking to learn more. Thank you for sharing. I love seeing other artists processes and learning from them. Your art is beautiful.

I love that you are trying lots of different things, as artists and creatives we evolve so much, but I'm glad that you are also following your passions and you aren't afriad to give it a go. I love the idea of pyrography, it looks very satisfying! I'm so glad you are enjoying all aspects of your art, that's so important. Thank you for your kind words about my art an for watching. Is there anything you would like more info on that I can make a video out of? Your support means alot x

@SamanthaCliftArt oh, just anything you like to share. I get so much inspiration from watching others processes when they create. Like I said most of my art has been black and white, so I'm just trying to learn how to work with colors and get good textures with paints. Totally different mediums from what I'm used to.
