Tati Nickel is based in Francistown, and has been sold. Selibe Phikwe site is a different mine.

Botswana has just shot itself in the foot. A landlocked country that relies heavily on mining for its economic survival and then chooses to sell a national asset like a mine effectively forfeits both control and potential future benefits.

I think they know what they are doing, the mine is old and they need heavy investments to mine further underground, the government however owns the majority shares if the big diamond mines, where the profit margins are much higher.

That's the beautiful side of promises, their destination happens to be ugly when unfulfilled as always

That mall in Selebi Phikwe speaks volumes, Woolies and PnP 😂 But let us be honest, Diamond sales are dwindling, and Cobalt won't get us far free from the mineral curse that hangs over the country. I want to hear DIVERSIFICATION from the mineral lead economy. Botswana's GDP shrank 1.8% quarter-on-quarter in the first quarter of 2024, following a 0.9% contraction in the previous period.
