I watched this with my 6 year old son in the UK - and he was fascinated. Thank you. He did however, have one question - how did the trucks get to the lower level after the deployment of explosives?
Well, underground mining. From what I learned, it is called stoping. These trucks designed for underground mining pass through shafts, adits and tunnels. These terms have different meanings in mining though they seemed to be similar.

Magma from the core reaches the crust and cools forming solids which are rocks. Magma is mix of many metals but the earths core is mainly iron I believe.
this is a very good and informative video. i know a lot more on how mining works. yet i have one question if you find any other minerals what do you do with them. do leave them or do you take it and do something with it.
No offence, but that's nothing compared to what the Springhill coal mine was in the 1950's. It's slope was 14,200 feet long, with a vertical depth of 4,000 feet. At the time, it was the deepest coal mine in North America. Unfortunately, it was closed down due to some major disasters.
+Aidan Jackson-Kelso I mean, when you're a mining engineer the things you argue about are pretty thin. ";YO, you hear the Arlingon miners only have a 12 foot diameter tunnel? SO 1980's..."
Yes! I’m so glad people like you don’t use phones or wear clothes or drive a car or eat food or do anything else to stick it to those evil miners who make your meaningless pathetic life possible!
What damage? Michigan passed some strictest sulfide mining law's aimed at Eagle Mine. Those sulfide mining law's are being followed to the letter and then some!!! My son works there tells me all the procedures they have to follow. I'm willing to bet you are one Those people who enjoy all the modern conveniences life has to offer. You fell so strong about the environment then unplug and go off grid then.
Very informative and visually appealing overall, but unfortunately the thing I'll never forget is the dinosaur from 1 billion years ago. Maybe in a sequel, Raquel Welch could be riding it? (Sorry, I couldn't help my snarky self.)
You fuckin idiots ruined a pristine wilderness for a dollar and everyone reading this doesn't even know that a foreign entity owns this company and they won't tell you that sulfide mining is dangerous ....makes me wanna puke
Why do trucks have to drive 67 miles one way from Eagle to the Humboldt grinding plant? Oh yeah the eco freaks killed county road 595, cutting the trip to 21 miles ONE WAY. Gee that's lot of extra diesel fuel and exhaust, way to go!!! Let's not forget the extra highway traffic.
Something so intrinsic to human history. Mining and I know nothing about thanks for the vid.
how long each step needed from boring till nickel ready to sell?
I'm an expert at mining. I found a tonne of diamond the other day within like 20 minutes.

the blasted rock would be mucked out, and then the ground is sloped, and the whole process repeats again

So you don't throw buckets full of water in a cave, jump into it and throw torches everywhere?
Can i assume that this is exactly how other minerals are also processed?
Nope.

The smelting and further processing is done in Canada.
Canadian National Railroad transports ore from Ishpeming Mi to Sualt Saint Marie Ontario.
before they even mine it,, How, and why, is the copper particles mixed in with the nickel particles? How did it form within the Earth crust?
Magma from the core reaches the crust and cools forming solids which are rocks. Magma is mix of many metals but the earths core is mainly iron I believe.
H bro whats animation soft?
We use drones with sensors these days to find minerals.
you fail to mention the toxic chemicals used in your magical air bubble tanks...
Well what kind of chemicals??? The state of Michigan has very strict mining laws.
