I agree with you on the cinematography! Even the direction. The screenplay and the acting, however, are dreadful … and is why this film is forgettable. Blame the casting agency and the writer? 🤷🏻♂️
Set in post-war Japan, the film revolves around a tough detective named Earl McGraw (Robert Stack) who is assigned to investigate a series of robberies and murders connected to a gang of American criminals who have infiltrated Japan's criminal underworld. As McGraw becomes more involved, he uncovers the complex relationships within the gang and their leader, Cameron (Robert Ryan). The film explores themes of betrayal, loyalty, and the clash between American and Japanese cultures in a post-war context.
Robert Stack is an example of how anyone with no acting talent whatsoever could make it in Hollywood. Robert Ryan was an example of someone who could. Stack had a few roles that suited him, but he was a dreadful actor.
Pretty looking B level movie. Stack & Ryan are watchable along with Miss Yamaguchi. Bones McCoy also shows up in Tokyo before his Enterprise gig. This video posted on December 7. I saw what you did there. Very clever. The traitor F. D. Roosevelt would be amused.
We sometimes forget about the nationwide insurgency in Occupied Japan and the many lethal attacks on American military operations, Communists waged war on the United States in Korea and Japan simultaneously. We fought back only in Korea.
How does one get a passport after a stretch in prison? And was that Bones McCoy helping Robert Ryan run that pachinko parlor? Not a great movie, but a very interesting time capsule...
Drab. Watched for views of Japan that were free from today's skyscrapers, not many views. Movie stiff and boring.

Amazing that Stack could spend his whole life in the profession without an iota of acting talent. I presume he must have been something else on the casting couch.
What a movie! I'm so lucky I discovered it. Wonderful performances and the cinematography and direction was amazing. Thank you for the upload.

Eliot Ness very distinctive voice .
Good movie

So true
I particularly liked the scene where he went to bed in his clothes and got up in pyjamas 😂😂😂
Good old film with Stack and Ryan. The latter as nearly always plays the heavy. While Stack, "the untouchable," tailor made for the hero.

I was in Japan at about this time........
Did you meet them?
😁
Japan sure looks different than it did in the 50s
Even Then Japan looked Great! 😊
Brad Dexter, one of the "Magnificent Seven".
Americans who yell louder thinking the Japanese will understand English more when yelled at.
Sam Fuller noir in color. Nuff said!!
I seem to have watched it

Looks like a good movie but can't hear anything
That happens occasionally to me, just close the video and reload it. The sound is fine on the movie.
IS this a silent movie?
Lol

Yes, that was Bones. Looks out of place anywhere but Star Trek.
volume to scant
A bore of a movie--Robert Stack was never more glum
Sound too low
Acting and dialogue is so stiff. The cinematography is great historically
I got through 26 minutes. There are too many commercials. I will not be subscribing or watching the rest of this movie.
You didn't miss anything, movie is a bore
God bless you Mr Smith and God bless the man on Floor 17 in Yeshuas name I pray..
