So as someone who literally thinks the p38 is the absolute worst plane in the US tech tree unless everything goes right for you specifically. Don't use the "air brake" its not an air brake its a dive recovery flap helps against compression which is why it helps so much in the turn fight. Use it to retain your maneuverability in a dive rather than as something to "slow down"
