So grateful for this...thank you! I bought an EVH Striped series used and for whatever reason it had a floating tremolo (looked unmodified...probably a defect from the factory) with a D-Tuna. Which of course is a recipe for complete disaster. I imagine that is why the previous owner ditched the guitar. Well EVH & GC were practically useless when I asked them for solutions which led me to your site. Thanks to this video I had the courage to do this modification myself. Result: My EVH Striped series is now totally badass and the D-Tuna now is no longer a smoking disaster. Thank you FU-Tone!
I never buy goods from anyone who talks like their jaw is perma-wired with the grins of a love child twixt a creepy meteorologist and a used ron jon sales engineer that may or may not enjoy playing with amperes
Think I'll get one of these for my soon to arrive Charvel pro mod DK22 with a gotoh 510, I tune to drop D often so having it for down only would be ideal for maximum stability and such.
It’s unfortunate that the Super-Vee Mag-Lok is no longer available on your site, but I suspect that’s not by your choice. I have one guitar set up with both a trem stopper AND a Mag-Lok and it is a great combination for a dive-only setup. Double stops stay in tune without needing nearly as much spring tension with the Mag-Lok, and the whole guitar stays in tune with the trem stopper. Best of both worlds for me.
I had a problem once with a D-tuna that I purchased. He was so kind and helpful. Honestly, I think it was my best customer service experience ever. I highly recommend him
Alright, I'm going to give this thing a try. Having played acoustic for a decade, I did the Insanity Wolf thing and bought a Floyd Rose type tremolo equipped guitar (Ibanez RG450DXB) as my 1st electric guitar....
I had one of these before but sold the guitar it was it, the f u tone stopper is better than the ones on ebay, the thumbscrew is nice and big and it's a nice piece of brass. I have one from ebay but it's a small stainless-steel one, with a small nut..makes it more of a pain to work with.
Yea, i bought one off ebay a while back, the thing was cheap and very small. You get what you pay for i suppose. I`m going to buy the Brass Trem Stopper of Fu-Tone this time...Unless FU-Tone hooks me up with one :P. My D Tuna is installed on my Kramer but i can`t even use the thing on Drop D.
Hey, does anyone know the size of the nut (diameter and thread)? I was thinking of getting another nut to put on the other side to remember the position, thanks!
@@FloydUpgrades Sorry to bug you about this again, but I've been wondering if anyone has used a less visual way to mark the position like maybe a thin rubber washer or bit of solder something?. Just curious because I'm going to use this only if a string breaks live (in dark and grimy bars, lol), so if I could feel when the grub screw gets to the right point that could be cool and it wouldn't have to be strong just strong enough to give some resistance. Any way great products and thanks for support!
You wouldn't happen to know what size screw that Black screw is, with respect to the threads and gage? I have a non-licensed floyd rose and the black screw does not make good contact with the tremolo, it only cathces a piece of the edge. I plan to buy a regular screw with a head on it. The head of the screw or bolt will make good contact. Thanks for the great video. Very helpful.
Noob question: Got a full thickness Squier SE. If I block the trem block, is it still worth it to upgrade the thin zinc block to a thicker brass (or steel) block? Any and all opinions would be appreciated. Cheers
I have this trem stopper but without the nut bolt and if I were to break a string the rest of the strings go sharp even though it’s being blocked by the screw. Will the nut bolt prevent this?
FU - TONE Even after putting on the nut the strings still go sharp if I loosen a string. This means it’ll definitely go sharp when I break one. I have it tightened as much as possible against each other so I don’t get why this is still happening. Thank you
Something is wrong. when the bridge is properly blocked and stable, you can de-tune or break a string and stay in tune. Let's take this conversation offline and I can help you direct. Send me a few photos of your bridge - front and back and we will do this via email - adam@fu-tone.com
Do you have to tighten the claw screws after changing? My goal is to use one of these to block and unblock to change tunings. (As changing spring tension would mess up my standard tuning setup.) Thanks
You could try one of two things....1) Make a small hardwood shim to take angle out of the equation. 2) Put stopper in a vice and bend to appropriate angle...carefully.
I've got a EVH Striped Series, I see the back where I I'm supposed to screw it in, but my pickup looks like it is directly on the other side. If I screw it in will it break the pick up? or even touch it at all?
Does having the springs set up asymmetrically cause any issues? While resting seems fine, but what about when you push down on the bar? Do you notice an imbalance, or is it not enough to worry about? I have one of these, but I haven't gotten it installed, yet. :-) These videos are really helpful.
FU - TONE Hey Adam! Great products you have. I have purchased some stuff from you in the past and have never been disappointed with the results. I purchased the brass Trem stop and installed it. It stops the block, But it seems to make a loud clunking noise when I realese the bar. Any suggestions? Thanks
Hey there! Sorry for the delay in response - this was hidden. Sometimes I like ot add a small square of gaff tape to the face of the block where the screw touches. It deadens the sound pretty well. It all depends on the players touch. You can always email me direct with questions. adam@fu-tone.com
Yep. It's a solid product though. There's another device out there called the trem-setter that basically adds another string that pushes the block against the direction of your trem springs, but will allow you to dive and pull up (link here: www.amazon.com/Homyl-Trem-setter-Guitar-Tremolo-Stabilizer/dp/B07G83YD98/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=trem+setter&qid=1564887638&s=gateway&sr=8-4) That said, if you're not someone who HAS to pull up, this device is better for two reasons - better stability (no spring/ no moving parts), and more solid contact with the body than the trem setter (no spring means no dampening). I use both on different guitars, because sometimes I do like pulling up, but if I'm not in the mood to do anything too wild, the trem stopper is better. There's also the Tremol-no (www.amazon.com/Allparts-Tremol-No-Tremolo-Locking-Device/dp/B004MNEKWK/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=trem+setter&qid=1564887638&s=gateway&sr=8-2), but it doesnt do much that these other devices don't do.

At the start it looks like you're sitting in this guys living room and he's rolling a refer. Well, he's high, that much is true.
Felt like I was in the room with him having a casual tech talk then I was disappointed when I finally saw his hands were empty.

Could you use this simply just for string changes if you're changing them all at once?
Yes! Highly suggested!
@@FloydUpgrades do you know if this works with an ibanez guitar that was the Zero Point System?

Hey, does anyone know the size of the nut (diameter and thread)? I was thinking of getting another nut to put on the other side to remember the position, thanks!
You can't add a nut on the back side as the 2 mounting screws would block it. You can mark the screw with a silver Sharpie for reference.
