    I didn't want to completely stop the bridge from being able to move so I used cork from a bottle of wine, cut it in half and put it in front and back, this allows tuning as you would a fixed bridge but still able to use tremolo bar for playing. Actually worked better than I thought it would

    I have a Tremol-no on my BC Rich and I love it. I'm not a huge fan of Floyd Rose's. The guitar is killer, plays and sounds amazing, but I don't get into the whole 80's dive bomb thing. I threw the Tremol-no on there along with some stiffer springs and locking tuners. I just finger tighten the screws at the nut so it keeps the aesthetic, but they're loose enough I can still use my tuners. Occasionally I'll loosen the one screw on the back so I can press down on the bar, which makes it operate more like a Strat.
    Biggest game changer on here though is changing strings.

    I just got one of these. Have wanted one for years, as we do a lot of songs that move between standard and drop D. Im hoping that my fine tuner will allow for moving from standard to D. For years I just used wood to block and it ws fine until I started playing out. I noticed that that block of wood would swell in the humidity and knock me out of tune anyway. So I installed the tremol-no . So far so good. It is an easy install. I used tape to mark my original spot but I still had to crank the screws up about 12 more turns from that spot. I guess it is a good marker point to do so.

    I have a floating trem system but I bend a lot and use the 'dive-only-mode'.
    Unfortunately, all I've seen is either to :
    (1) block the trem completely, which you CANT use the trem as a whole (can bend without strings go out of tune//flat)
    (2) block the trem only at the back, so only dive mode (which i really want with no.1)
    (3) use tream as it is (cant bend or strings will go flat)
    is there a way to get the best solution for getting (1) + (2)?

      How do you like it?

    • @MrAustinMusic
      @MrAustinMusic ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@grandwazoo1696 it is okay. It doesn’t hold stable for string changes so I still block it off when doing that. With bass heavy notes/riffs it tends to rattle where the claw connects to the metal bar. Which can be annoying but not completely intolerable. It holds great while playing, or drop tuning. Whatever the guitar is setup for is the only time you can use the trem for because obviously when you unlock it if it is no longer in that tuning it will go out of tune. I’d recommend it but it has certain things that need to be learned to live with.

    • @IllusionaryFuneral
      @IllusionaryFuneral 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I read a lot of reviews that say there is clanking noises, but I’m sure that if you put some foam in between the springs and the guitar body, that would solve the problem. That’s something that any Floyd user should be doing anyway because the springs can rattle around in the cavity and be picked up by the pickups.

    • @2112Relayer
      @2112Relayer 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I bought a tremol-no, installed it, then removed it a couple months later. There is definitely "clank" noise not related to the springs when in "dive only" mode. I also ran into issues where the screws that were supposed to lock the system would loosen on their own (and I mean within minutes of them being tightened to begin with). It was worth a shot, but ultimately I did not like the tremol-no and will not consider re-installing it.

    Does anyone else have trouble with their Tremol-No? I recently installed mine and the screws don't seem to lock the bar from moving. When I lock before dropping each string down a half step (E to Eb), it goes out of whack because the bar doesn't actually lock into place. I can still move it with very little ease by either pushing or pulling on the Floyd Rose from the front. I reached out to All Parts, but they won't respond to my emails or answer my calls (and their voicemail isn't set up). Any advice? I already tried rotating which thumbscrews are used where, but they all seem to suck at actually locking the Tremol-No in place.

    Kool vid man really interested in the discussion of this topic, being poor for a lot of my life Ive tried lots of things and varietys of wood in both sides on the tremolo block and aim to find ones that don't inhibit the actual guitar tone as much as possible or add any undesired overtones, and generally I would always go with wood.
    SIDE TIP - I've found tortex picks to work great to fill just a little space if your broke and needed since they dont actually really "sound" like anything or add anything tonaly speaking and don't have the usual plastic sound of regular picks ;).

    • @ThomannsGuitarsBasses
      @ThomannsGuitarsBasses  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Since the strings are not always pushed tight into the nut unless it's locked, I recommend still locking it. That's a big difference between a locking nut and a regular one: only the later one needs a correct string angle behind the nut to work properly without a buzz. This is of course different on every guitar, if the strings are pushed down into the nut slot enough without it being locked, then you're good and should just ignore everything that I wrote, haha. :) //Kris

    Would it be possible to use a Tremol-no and EVH D-Tuna together? I know the D-Tuna is only for dive only Floyd setups, would it cause problems if you went back to floating with it installed? Or could you just ignore it while in floating mode and still use it in decked mode?
    If you have a better way to go between drop D and standard on a Floyd I would really love to hear it!

    • @ThomannsGuitarsBasses
      @ThomannsGuitarsBasses  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Sam, yeah sure you can mix those two. Just ignore the D Tuna when in floating mode and only use it when the trem is blocked. Here's a tip though: try something like the Guitar-Guard Hardtailer with the D Tuna instead. That thing is rock solid and even faster to block / unblock. th-cam.com/video/GF2H6SyRn8g/w-d-xo.html

    • @ThomannsGuitarsBasses

      Hey, there are limitations to what tension change a small screw can handle (small screw being the one you tighten on the Tremol-No for dive only mode). I haven't tried to tune all the strings that low but I could imagine it being too much. It's not an issue to drop tune the 6th string of course. Cheers //Kris

    • @kaoe145

      yes because this only works due to the fact that it wont allow it to go back when lowering the low e string thus keeping the remaining strings from going out of tune wish it could thou i'm going to look at a hybrid method of maybe using the tremol no and a backstop or maybe the tremmory together to see if that would possible work

    • @ThomannsGuitarsBasses
      @ThomannsGuitarsBasses  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Mark, the Ibanez Edge tremolo on the JS2450 (and the Lo-Pro Edge on many other Ibanez guitars) look maybe a little different but you set them up and use them the same way as Floyd Rose or Schaller tremolos.
      This means if you want a Tremol-No for the JS you'll most probably need the one with the small clamp. That's the same as what I was using in this video.

    I installed a Tremol-No on my LTD KH602, because string change with a floating Floyd Rose is a pain in the a**. Just be cautious with the locking screws on the claw. I managed to ruin the spring claw screws, because the locking screws there still too tight. BTW the way the Tremol-No claw was a bit higher than the original claw and the tremolo cover won`t fit anymore.The reason for this is: the guys in the WMI factory slanted the original screws too much and I am stuck with these predrilled holes. Is there a tech tip to fix this easily?

    • @ThomannsGuitarsBasses
      @ThomannsGuitarsBasses  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm. Too bad with the mounting claw screws. The only proper way of fixing that is closing the holes with hard wood and redialling them. It's a little tricky though and you will need a special drill bit so I recommend visiting a luthier.

    • @ThomannsGuitarsBasses
      @ThomannsGuitarsBasses  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are a few versions of the Tremol-No: one for thin trem blocks (small clamp) one for thick blocks (large clamp) and there's even one with a pin for the block, instead of a clamp. So yes, it pretty much fits all common floating trems.

    Wenn man das Tremolo mit dem Gadget blockiert kann man ja "ganz normal" umstimmen (das wäre mein Hauptgrund dafür), anders als mit nem freien System. Wie problematisch ist es, wenn man meinetwegen von Standard auf C-Tuning stimmt während das Tremolo blockiert ist und es dann mittels der Feststellschrauben wieder freigibt? Können da Schäden entstehen oder geht dann einfach nur die Stimmstabilität verloren?
