    Another great video, your colours always look so vivid. Have you done any videos on your post production process for these videos? i've been doing a few with my dog harvey - still getting used to all the tech. I'm using a ten year old mac mini but think i'm going to splash out whenever the next mac book pro 13 inch comes out.

    • @StephenJReid
      @StephenJReid  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Bob, I love colour grading, essential part of the process for me but it takes a bit of time so its often overlooked. I have plans for videos on colour grading and other techniques I use coming this year, so keep an eye out! :-)

      @@StephenJReid great, i'll look forward to those. It is all the fine details that make the difference. Don't know where i'll find the hours in the day to spend more time on videos. I do enjoy the process though, anything to distract me from the fact that i haven't done my tax return yet. :)

    Great video, I too have just found your channel, also just got a GPH8 and am out and about practising as I got it to take it to Hawaii for the holiday of a lifetime! Couple of questions if that’s ok, how long did it take you to do that walk? Absolutely amazing views. And therefore how many batteries did you use or charge on the go? Loved the fact you used different techniques, slow-mo, time-lapse, in your vid too... thanks for sharing it.

    • @StephenJReid
      @StephenJReid  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Becca! Thanks for the comment, I love mixing different techniques and cameras, think it helps to show off a location better. I’d allow 4-6hrs for that walk, depends how often you stop and how hard you push it. I always bring two batteries for every camera I have with me on a hike. For the GoPro, I’ll typically use 1.5 batteries if it’s my main camera for the day. But I try to be careful with it and now overshoot. For a 10min video I try to shoot about 20mins of footage. When I started I would shoot 50mins plus and took ages to edit.

    How did you nail the gh5 focus? Was it autofocus or manual focus?

    • @StephenJReid
      @StephenJReid  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      For vlogging parts it's all autofocus. For Slow mo B-roll shots, it's manual focus. Autofocus on the GH5 is better than people think, there has been several updates since it was released.

      Stephen J Reid glad to hear it. Maybe next time you’d like to try 10bit dlog-m h.265 to see what it’s like, you’ll probably need to use a proxy though. Even my 6-core i7 PC slows down if I don’t use proxies with the 10bit h.265 format, although it only gets slow once I apply colour correction (or what’s it called lumetri 😉 can’t believe I confused it with resolve when we spoke doh!).
