@RHINO: "Hard Habit to Break" is a song written by Steve Kipner and John Lewis Parker, produced and arranged by David Foster and recorded by the group Chicago for their 1984 album Chicago 17, with Bill Champlin and Peter Cetera sharing lead vocals. This is an epic ballad when you consider the scope of it: a lot of chord changes with sus chords (very David Foster), sevenths and ninths; a wall of sound with a lot of instruments including strings and of course horns; an extra-powerful bridge that goes beyond just a solo but has pretty-well everyone on deck doing something special; and a modified third chorus with that the punctuated "I don't want to!". And then there's the outro, which is totally different from the chorus and adds more strings, large horn movements, rhythm guitar, and overlapping vocals. They spared no effort or expense when it came to this production. The guitar solo isn't even a major part of the song, but they still brought in Michael Landau AND Paul Jackson Jr to play guitars. I still marvel at it.

Nov 2021.... and still addicted to this song!!
I'm Arthur Bhutic! I saw 👀 this in Late 1984 when I was 9 living of the North Carolina Border in North Chestnut Springs, South Carolina! More than a few years after I moved to Houston! Though in Summer '84, I temporarily lived in Houston!
Chicago’s ballads were some of the greatest songs of the 80s
Oh my God bring back the 80s please!
Now being without you , takes a lot of getting easier it’s the hardest thing to take, addicted to you baby you’re such a hard habit to break.. 💔💔💔💔🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Man, 80's was hard on teenage love but oh the music helped you to deal with heartache!
@@douglasworsley6742 And your friends. In the 80s you could rely on someone to always have your six.
God this song takes me away. The harmonies are just incredible. I was 14 when this song came out and I’m 52 now. What a time it was.

80s music hit different
This song bring back memories. Sad ones too but we all carry on day day life. You can't bring them back but keep them close too your ❤️ heart that's all. After time heals all that what I say. Hard habit to break. Awesome tune and band. We just carried on.
My favorite Chicago song! 💙🎶
Bill Champlin interviews about his time with Chicago are enlightening. Laid back and direct about his tenure and unexpected firing.
I've been in the 80's since the 80's
Such a great song! And Steve Lukather and the lead guitar killin it as always
