Owen Kahn Same, I hit my snobby phase then. I was 11ish when it was starting and thought, I am tooooo much of an adult for that kiddy stuff, I can say "fuck" now. No need for that Star Wars. Now I am a man child that loves star Wars and other childhood properties I didn't appreciate then

In 2011 I was the biggest Star Wars nerd in my school. I annoyed all of my classmates with all of the special edition changes, wouldn’t shut up about Star Wars ships, read Star Wars comics constantly, and pissed everyone off for getting 110s in history on all of my tests and quizzes when history was the only class where we were graded on a curve. Didn’t have many friends beside Star Wars in high school.

I think the tone of your early videos was more immature and childish but not in a bad way. It was used for comedic effect, and that’s one aspect I liked about your older videos. I like that tone every once in awhile, but I’m glad you’ve changed to a more relaxed and mature tone in your videos. Keep up the great work.
In the book "From a Certain Point of View" which takes place during A New Hope, there are 5 stories involving Greedo and he didn't shoot first. So it's official, Han DID shot first.
Also, I love that the book fleshes out some of the side characters in A New Hope. After I read the book, I watched the movie again from a different point of view lol

In 2011, it was ok. So many fun things, but my life changed when I discovered your channel. I LOVE your honesty in all your videos. Your opinions are not too loving or too hated. It’s the perfect balance. You helped me learn that my opinions matter and no one should change them based on their view. Your first video is probably your most iconic video. I is my favorite one of your videos. I do really like the inside Star Wars as well. I find it kind of funny the way I like these things. I don’t necessarily prefer or like the old Greedo more, but there just is something nostalgic and iconic I love about him. The same is actually the case for Star Wars. I do really like the sequel trilogy, but I seem to prefer the original trilogy. I can’t really explain why, but it is probably the same as with your old videos, something nostalgic.
Thank you for being one of the most mature and levelheaded voices in this fandom. It’s people like you that prove that not all of us are whining fanboys.
I was in Korea, getting ready to move to Thailand, and about to get married. Now, am in graduate school, planning on possibly going back to Korea to teach (for the third time).
SUGGESTION: Why don’t you recreate this video, but with your new way of phrasing your ideas. I’d totally watch that!

In 2011 I had quit 10 years of being a Theatrical Sound Engineer, moved to NYC and got a hosting job at a restaurant in Times Square...I loved every moment of it. I met people who I consider to be my best friends nowadays (just got back from a wedding between two of em), learned new passions, and started living a life that I never got to in my old, all time consuming, career. I now work in Museum Services as a Staff Supervisor and have time to be with friends and am working on a podcast series.
It was a totally different me back then.

Since you asked, 7 years ago EVERYTHING was different in my life (and in my brain). I was still a new transplant to Chicago, still figuring out my place in a new situation. I still hadn't met 2 of the most formative friends in my life. I'm grateful for all that I've experienced and learned in the last 7 years... and I hope everyone had such beneficial lessons in their near-history... and will have in their near-future. ✹ May the Force be with us all!

I saw the original in the theatres in 1978 - I will never forget the experience. The audience gave it a standing ovation from the moment the credits began to roll and did not stop until they were done. I wish you younger fans could have experienced it.

I can't believe I've been watching you since 2011. I remember thinking it was such a nice little SW channel when the scene had quietened down, and then seeing it blow up as you became the main source of Star Wars news... man it's been great.

7 years ago, I was an overweight recent college grad and chain smoker who still lived in my college town as a restaurant manager who was single and went to the bars on my nights off. I’m now happily married, I have a great administration job and help my wife out with her business. I’m also 60 pounds lighter and 2 1/2 years smoke free

Man, back when I didn’t have a TH-cam account, I stumbled on this video and loved it. I remember it being the only video on your channel. And since I couldn’t subscribe, I just checked from time to time if you made a new video. I remember your Special Edition Changes Video as being the best thing on TH-cam for me. I sat down, grabbed some Chips and just had marathons of your changes videos.

Ah, 2011. A year where my old man died, I was in a shitty secondary school comparable to a military camp and living with constant suicidal thoughts...7 years later; now I'm an up and coming filmmaker with a Bachelor of Science degree and new Star Wars films. Life can sure be strange sometimes. But great in the end.
And Greedo, your videos were a great source of humour and comfort during those dark times so I thank you for that. Star Wars is one of those things that has taught me to always live through the hard times and persevere.

I was 11 years old and just finished 5th grade and went to a nice CGI Summer Camp in Tarzana California. Played a lot of Lego Star Wars the Complete Saga and with Lego star wars sets, right before I went to middle school, what a great Summer
7 years ago I watched Star Wars for the first time and I’ve been a fan for half my life
In 2011, I was 11. My mom abandoned me and I went to live with my dad who worked as a technician and we didn't have a lot of money. Now I'm taking my final exams at the end of the year and my dad works as a project manager for my city's main railway company and I have enough money saved up to get a used car for when I leave school. Next year, I'm going to the country's best film school. Life is a little harder now than in 2011, but I'm happier.
I remember when I first watched that video. It was the summer between 5th and 6th grade 6 years ago. Me and my familiy were living in a friend's house in San Francisco and they had the Star Wars trivia book. I was so obsessed with star wars and I had my ipod touch with youtube so that's how I found you. I can't believe it's been 6 years...
7 years ago (at the time of the video's upload) I was 16, had started my first year of college (studying Level 2 Media), and was happy but still carrying baggage from school, but otherwise better off in a different surrounding with brand new friends. I think I'm happier now since ending my tenure there after 5 years since I became burnt out. Star Wars and you HelloGreedo have stayed with me during that time and now. Some things never change and sometimes that's a beautiful thing. Might start watching your videos from the beginning soon after seeing this.

In 2011, I was 7 years old, loved reading, was preparing for a sebatical to England, loved playing with plastic lightsabers, and had two really close and fun friends. :)

Wow. Always super eye-opening to look back on your life just seven years ago! I was going into my junior year of high school and I was significantly more shy back then. Now I'm a recent college grad, starting full time work, and moving out soon. Dealing with shyness a lot better too. Crazy how much life can change in such a relatively short time.

And hey, as for your older stuff vs. your newer stuff, I personally prefer your newer stuff. You're a lot more... chill, I guess is the right word. You're super level-headed while still not being afraid to speak your mind on the movies, the fandom, or anything at all. IMHO you've only gotten better and I always look forward to what you do next. (I just had one other thought -- I didn't know your channel back when you did your "In JJ We Trust" campaign, so if you're planning on doing something similar again for IX, I'm pumped!)
I actually like the new style better than it was before. It’s much more relaxing and almost a breath of fresh air from the rest of TH-cam, whereas your old videos kind of fit the TH-cam mold.

I was the stereotypical science fiction geek/ science enthusiast/ comic book reader in Junior Highschool ... meaning that I got picked on a lot because I was such a stereotypical nerd.
This channel was actually a source of comfort over the years and Greedos Astronomy videos kept my science enthusiasm alife (at least partially) ...which is awesome because I will start studying physics in October (hopefully I‘ll get a degree).

I was 6 and started to LOVE star wars! And I descovered TH-cam, and your channel! Yeah, I have watched your channel for 7 years! Wow, that's insane!
If anything, this channel hasn't become boring at all, but more insightful. I know you may have been kinda joking when you said "boring", but over the years, I feel like you've become much easier to listen to. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the hell out of your early videos and still do, but your videos now tend to get people thinking critically and I definitely leave each one having learned a lot more. Props to you sir!!

Your content has definitely evolved but I still find that the inner child in you very much alive, in Star Wars at least and it has taught me not to let go of that throughout some rough times man. So thank you for your videos 🙏🏼 and yea I mean if you ever felt like remastering these just for the heck of it I’d definitely give it a watch. Plenty of those on the internet.
7 years ago, I was in college. I just suffered through a rough breakup. My uncle just died. I was also angry about the Star Wars special edition changes because I have been a Star Wars fan my entire life. And a friend just got me into the clone wars tv show.
Also, I discovered your channel in the year 2014.
I was in middle school, lived off mini pizzas, absolutely loved Green Lantern (2011), and wore plaid shorts every day.
Wow this was so interesting! Also made me think back to what I was doing 7 years ago. We are almost the same age (I turn 32 in a few days) and have gone through similar life stages, buying a house, getting married, but no kids for me so far. I am pretty sure I watched the first video close to when it was first uploaded and thought, man, this guy is saying what I am thinking! From that moment I imagine I hit the subscribe button and have been following ever since. Keep it up HG, love the evolution and direction of the channel.

I was eleven and I was just in my room all day doing nothing and had no friends, and seven years later nothing has changed.
Seven years ago I was eagerly awaiting my fourteenth birthday and was cautiously optimistic about entering into highschool. I remember when we had the tour of the highschool over the summer, I had taken the last of my pain pills after my surgery as a preventative measure to make sure I didn't suddenly double over. Turns out I didn't need them and just ended up getting high. That was a very enjoyable evening.
Life was easy, a young 13 year old with no worries or problems just star wars and assassins creed at the time, aaaaaaaaah i miss them days 😔

I'm just watching this video now and it's been nine years. Now things were already very different in 2019 compared to 2012. In 2012 I was a miserable, lonely, depressed high school student who had a small amount of friends and was also not as independent as I am now. Plus I was still loving with my folks and sisters.
Fast forwards to 2021: I now have my own apartment, holding down a job, I'm a full out metalhead, I love with my cat, I can travel ALL around Dundee on foot! And overall I'm much more confident and expressive. ;)
In 2011, I was entering high school. Life was easier, happier. I remember my friend showing me one of your videos in 2012 . I started watching you consistently after the force awakens came out. My love for Star Wars was reborn. A love, that I had forgotten existed. Now I can escape here on your channel into a world where I remember that love. Makes me happy.

2011, had first kid, driving my old Altima, still had my dad and grand mothers, started working full time as a mechanic. Now, had 2nd kid, driving a high preformance Caravan 'cause I'm a beast mechanic.

I like your videos then and now, HG! They are, of course, VERY different. I love the hilariously brutal honesty of the old videos, but I also love the calmer, more mature newer videos. You come across as a much happier person now, and I cannot fault you for that :)

7 years ago my priorities were going out and partying with friends every day, and going to punk shows. I didn't even really watch movies. I certainly didn't care about Star Wars, because I hated the prequels, and just accepted that that's what Star Wars had become. Never expected to get new movies with the OG cast that are as good as episodes 7 & 8... Now I hardly ever party, I work a full-time job, and watch TONS of movies. Sounds lame, but I'm totally cool with it.
This was cool to see how much you've grown. I love your videos, and appreciate how you take a more positive, while still funny approach to the content. Keep it up!
