Hi @Loebieful, I don’t administer PRP alone for hair loss because it has a limited effect on hair, usually just short-term hair growth. Also, the number of sessions needed does vary, and the longevity of results is unpredictable. TrichoStem Hair Regeneration is a PRP combination treatment where PRP is the activator of the main ingredient extracellular matrix by ACell. TrichoStem™ Hair Regeneration is a one-time treatment for most patients, and can last up to 5 years and beyond, depending on the aggressiveness of the hair loss pattern. You don't need repeat injections periodically, and many older TrichoStem™ Hair Regeneration patients don’t use maintenance drugs like finasteride, but finasteride is a must for our younger male patients with very early and aggressive hair loss due to high DHT-sensitivity as TrichoStem™ Hair Regeneration™ is not a DHT-blocker. PRP injections for hair loss are needed indefinitely. Some TrichoStem Hair Regeneration patients with advanced hair loss get a second treatment 15-24 months after the first which we call the booster, but this is already included in the cost of the treatment plan, so you don’t pay extra for it. TrichoStem™ Hair Regeneration patients can stop using minoxidil completely, or be weaned off it to prevent a sudden hair shed. ok so sorry i know you usually don’t reply to replies but please i just need ur knowledge, cause ur one of the most informed doctors i asked my derm, this is what he says . During te there is a spike in acid lactic and squalene which is determined to disrupt the inner outer root sheath due to sebum , the hair then falls out, in that same composition on the sebum (acid lactic squalene)we have dht the dht normally tells the follicle when to fall out even in normal scalps, but to people who are sensitive , miniaturization happens so that was his explanation on why te could aggravate aga. Due to the mechanism which i just said. Even if te was for 3 months or less some people have multiple resheddings , and some people have shedding of more than 50% of the hair on their scalp so basically to sum it up what he is trying to say is that the transition from anagen to telogen or the shedding of hairs normally happens due to spike in sebum due to stress (squalene anc lactic acid) which carries dht which then signals the hair follicle even in normal scalps to shed , so that transition doesn’t happen unless there is a distrubtion in sebum and te causes that spike , which leads to the contact of dht with the hair follicle , which is a problem if you already have androgenetic alopecia because you made the hairfollicles come in contact with dht earlier than they would have if they continued their normal growth cycle before triggering a shed ,so basically you wasted 2-7 years worth of a growth cycle before that should normally happen and accelerated the miniaturization process because dht doesn’t have an influence in the hair follicle if the hair follicle is still in the anagen phase Not exactly. Every TE is different, but they all share a similar mechanism in which the composition of sebum is altered and the anchor system (the root sheath) is compromised, thus causing the shedding. But when the amount of sebum increases more DHT is pumped. Idk is this scientific or just speculations from my dermatologist also when i search on google about if te accelerating aga the answer is always yes like here “TE often unmasks male pattern hair loss or accelerates its progression as the hair that regrows after TE is thinner than it was before,”idk man.
Hi @CristensenY, Telogen effluvium can occur at the same time as genetic pattern hair loss, but it is a temporary condition, and it does not accelerate genetic pattern hair loss. Younger men with higher DHT-sensitivity, and earlier onset of pattern hair loss usually have a more aggressive thinning rate. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi @wholesome_J, Over 99% of TrichoStem Hair Regeneration patients see a visible increase in hair thickness, and scalp coverage. For younger men with high DHT-sensitivity and an aggressive thinning pattern, it is important to take a DHT-blocker like finasteride for best results, and to sustain results longer. After over a decade of performing the treatment, very few people don't respond, and the majority of those who are unsatisfied with their results are younger men who refuse to take finasteride after the treatment. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi, TrichoStem Hair Regeneration is a pioneer treatment using the ACell+PRP protocol since 2011, and I had prior experience using ACell before I used it to treat hair loss. It isn't "basically" PRP with ACell because ACell is the main ingredient, and no other ACell+PRP treatment requires only 1-2 treatment sessions, with benefits lasting 3-5 years, or longer. So TrichoStem Hair Regeneration is not basic ACell+PRP, it's the benchmark of ACell+PRP. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi@@TD07_, We treat patients from India quite regularly as many patients only need one treatment session, but the second treatment session when needed is done 18-24 months later. Since it's not surgery, a long stay in the US is not needed, and some even get back on the plane home the same day. The cost of the TrichoStem Hair Regeneration treatment varies with the extent of treatment needed. Cost of the treatment plan also includes the second booster treatment, if needed in advanced hair loss cases, as well regular follow ups to monitor your progress, either in our offices or through Skype, FaceTime or email. I would assume that Peptides that have been used to help with regrowing hair could be used after doing this procedure for even better results. Also, could a derma roller be used after treatments? Or do you feel it wouldn't be necessary.
Hi @quantumfx2677, Men with high DHT-sensitivity can maximize their results with a DHT-blocker like finasteride since the TrichoStem Hair Regeneration treatment does not block DHT-formation. Peptides, dermarolling, and minoxidil are unnecessary after our treatment. I hope this clarifies things for you.
What can be done for out patients. I am in India and also sent a message to you on instagram but didnt get any reply form you. If your treament vials can be sent to Infia then I am ready for purchase provided you have a video to explain the doc here how to follow the steps if differs from GFC or PRP.
Hi @pj6299, Sorry, but it isn't possible to send the treatment. The treatment is customized for each individual patient, and the patient's own blood is used in the formulation. The treatment would have to be done in one of our offices in the US. Since it is a non-surgical treatment with little to no recovery time, and in many cases no additional treatment, you don't need an extended stay in the US. Many patients actually get back on the plane home the same day as treatment (again, under normal travel circumstances), but I don't recommend this for everyone as it is dependent on general health condition and age. Some patients with advanced hair loss may get a second treatment 15-24 months after the first, and results for international patients are monitored through Skype, FaceTime, or email follow up.
Hi Dr, if someone had androgenetic alopecia, how does prp help them, since they take blood from the patient and that blood has dht in it so wouldn’t that make the hairloss worse?
Hi @Tatyanarodrigo, First I need to clarify that TrichoStem Hair Regeneration uses PRP but it's not the main ingredient. The main ingredient in our treatment is extracellular matrix by ACell, so our treatment only requires 1-2 treatment sessions, with better results than PRP alone, with benefits lasting 3-5 years, or longer. PRP is proven to stimulate hair growth in people with androgenetic alopecia, but it requires treatment sessions every 1-3 months, and results are difficult to sustain even with ongoing treatments. Many of our patients tried PRP injections, and they didn't notice results, or were unhappy with the constant treatments required. Scalp DHT-sensitivity is significant factor of pattern hair loss in men, but it doesn't appear to be a significant factor in female pattern hair loss as women have low DHT levels. DHT is not the only factor in male pattern hair loss as we can stimulate thickening of thinning hair with our treatment, even if it's not a DHT-blocker, our treatment thickens hair much more consistently and drastically than DHT-blockers like finasteride. You can refer to these videos about the limits of DHT-blockers, and how our treatment differs from PRP alone: th-cam.com/video/4YowPNRsv6I/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/vZAGaAssewY/w-d-xo.html
Would you perform this treatment on a woman in her early 20’s that has female pattern hair loss? Also, if I perform this treatment, would I have to use Minoxidil or anti-androgenic pills (like birth control) to maintain the results? The reason I’m asking is because I want to have children soon and I would have to terminate all hair loss medication. So I need a solution that frees me from the need to use Minoxidil or anti androgenic pills.
Hi @user-jp4io9bq4u, TrichoStem Hair Regeneration is a treatment for female pattern hair loss, but a diagnosis for female pattern hair loss needs to be confirmed. You can refer to these videos on how we diagnose, and treat female pattern hair loss; why our female patients don't need to use minoxidil or spironolactone after our treatment; and why I generally don't prescribe finasteride to women: th-cam.com/video/2WhELyekG4A/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/lbngJ1a5GIw/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/xF_e36Z6QLg/w-d-xo.html
How well does this work for someone in their 50s? I don't think that PRP therapy works as well as someone in their 20s so younger blood would be much better. I'm 55 I don't have where I'm bald but have thining hair on top. I believe you are very few and far between in doing real high quality work which is hard to find and I'll be willing to look at what's been done by you and those that got results!
Hi @quantumfx2677, PRP is not the main ingredient in TrichoStem Hair Regeneration, rather it's extracellular matrix by ACell that is the main ingredient, with PRP as just the activator.. The TrichoStem Hair Regeneration treatment actually works better for men with later onset of genetic pattern hair loss because their rate of hair thinning is not as aggressive. Men in their 20s with genetic pattern hair loss have an aggressive rate of hair thinning, and higher DHT-sensitivity, so managing hair loss is actually more challenging in younger in men. You can refer to this videos on the differences of TrichoStem Hair Regeneration from PRP alone, and the factors of pattern hair loss in men: th-cam.com/video/vZAGaAssewY/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/d0tddJt6OME/w-d-xo.html
Hello sir, Hope you are well, I am a 17 y/o male with medium thinning along my scalp, well dispersed. My hairline is very slightly receded, and I have thinning in my crown. Please advise me if I should look into prp or stem cell treatment. Please sir
Hi @HimmyNeutron979, Sorry to hear about your problem. I hope you understand that I generally don't recommend treatment until I diagnose the cause. You are a little young for genetic male pattern hair loss, and are too young to be prescribed finasteride as the minimum age is 18. If you do have male pattern hair loss, a prescription for finasteride is important when you are at least 18 because of acute scalp DHT-sensitivity. You can refer to this videos on how we diagnose, and treat male pattern hair loss; and why finasteride is important especially for young men with early onset of genetic pattern hair loss: th-cam.com/video/BmwyXS0D5tg/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/fLSB-tE0gco/w-d-xo.html
Hii my hair is really thin and you can see my that my hair line is a bit big and it goes till the back of my head. Growing up i had really thick and long hair but since i turned 17 it started thinning. The thing is that my mom my sister and my brother we all have really thin hair. I’ve been trying hair oiling for a while but I don’t see a big difference. What could be the problem? Is it only genetics? And if so what do you think is the best solution for my hair?
Hi @yarasily8900, Sorry to hear about your problem. The cause of your thinning needs a proper diagnosis, especially since you are very young, and it's not clear if you are male or female. You can refer to this video about the different potential causes of hair thinning - th-cam.com/video/rGCPm2tR9bc/w-d-xo.html
@@AmiyaPrasadMDthank you dr for your reply. I’m a girl and im turning 21 soon. I’m losing my hair a lot in the shower and i can definitely see a lot of my scalp in the middle of my head
Hi@@yarasily8900, Hair falling out in the shower is not hair loss as shed hair grows back. Hair growing back thinner is the problem, which is why a proper diagnosis of the cause of hair thinning is important. There are several potential causes of hair thinning featured in the video I sent you, so you need to see an experienced doctor to diagnose which of those causes applies to your case. I hope this clarifies things for you.
I am 28 years female suffering from pcos since I was 16 .Could you please tell me whether hair thinning due to female pattern hairloss occurs rapidly as I have heard that hair thinning due to female pattern hairloss is not rapid it takes decades to worsen... I am experiencing severe hairfall+ hair thinning from last 4 months I feel I am being misdiagnosed(female pattern hairloss) Because my reports are normal except vit D3 for which I am taking supplement from last 3 months... Still hairfall is there and hair thinning is very rapid... Dr please help me I am just devastated
Hi @nidamir7353, Sorry to hear about your problem. Thinning due to female pattern hair loss is slow, but thinning due PCOS can appear similar, and having both conditions can accelerate hair thinning. It is also possible to have concurrent hair shedding. Female pattern hair loss can be difficult to diagnose as it appears like PCOS-related hair thinning, so sometimes scalp biopsies are needed to confirm it. Female pattern hair loss is genetic, and PCOS is hormonal, and none of them have to do with nutrient deficiencies. You can refer to these videos on how we diagnose, and treat female pattern hair loss; and other causes of hair thinning in women: th-cam.com/video/2WhELyekG4A/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/rGCPm2tR9bc/w-d-xo.html
@@AmiyaPrasadMDGreetings... Hi@@nidamir7353, As detailed in the video, our treatment protocol is different, with only 1-2 treatment sessions lasting 3-5 years, and no need for minoxidil. The decision to go for further treatment with your current protocol is between you and your doctor. I can only speak of the longevity, and results of our treatment. The longevity, and benefit of your current treatment can be described by your doctor. I hope this helps you.
Hey dr amiya , if sebum is an antioxidant doesn’t daily shampooing cause hairloss on the long run due removing the antioxidant which is sebum? Wouldn’t that expose oxidants , and oxidants are proven to damage cells and dna , wouldn’t that be a cause of hairloss for some people , lack of sebum due to dryness ? What happens on the long run for daily shampooing , cause there aren’t enough studies on that subject on the very long run .
Hi @Msh3el52, Daily shampooing does not cause hair loss. Hundreds of millions of people around the world shampoo daily, and they don't have hair loss. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hey dr amiya, can dandruff itself cause hairfall or hairloss? Cause i have read that dandruff can clog the hair follicles, the problem is iam using minoxodil and it causes alot of dandruff as you know and residue that even with shampoo cannot be removed completely so my question is , if minoxodil causes dandruff and if dandruff causes hairloss then could minoxodil dandruff damage my hair follicles overtime?
Hi @Tuber72, Dandruff does not cause hair loss. Pattern hair loss is still a genetic condition where hair follicles miniaturize, and hair grows progressively thinner. It is common for minoxidil to leave a residue on the scalp that appears like dandruff when it dries, and it can also add to concurrent dandruff, which is caused by dry scalp skin. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hey Dr Amiya , can minoxodil really cause aging if i use it for my beard? Or is minoxodil collagen relation is just speculations ? Is minoxodil really proved to drop collagen levels? Alot of studies show that minoxodil causes a decrease in collagen levels
Hi @Cendeyu, There are some studies that say minoxidil affects newly synthesized collagen, and others say they are inconclusive. The specifics about minoxidil side effects are not as relevant in my practice as I generally don't treat beard hair growth as I specialize in treating genetic pattern hair loss, and our TrichoStem Hair Regeneration patients can stop using minoxidil after our injection treatment. You can discuss with doctors who recommend minoxidil for beard growth. I hope this helps you.
Hi sir ,I hope you are doing Great Sir I was prescribed with 1mg finastride daily Now 1 month complete with finastride but my hair loss is not stopping, should I change prescription? what should I do sir I was diagnosed with retrograde alopecia,is it a cure of retrograde alopecia, is it all because of genetics in retrograde alopecia
Hi, Finasteride is meant to slow hair thinning progression in men by blocking DHT, but it does need to be used continually, not just for one month, and it doesn't stop hair thinning completely even with continued use. DHT-sensitivity is an important factor in male pattern hair loss, but it's not the only factor, which is why a DHT-blocker like finasteride cannot stop hair loss completely. You can refer to these videos about the importance of finasteride in treating male pattern hair loss, the limits of finasteride alone as a hair loss treatment, and how we can go beyond just finasteride alone in thickening thinning hair, and stimulating hair growth from dormant hair follicles: th-cam.com/video/fLSB-tE0gco/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/4YowPNRsv6I/w-d-xo.html
Hi, Finasteride is meant to be taken continually to slow hair thinning, which should have been explained by your prescribing doctor. There is no cure for genetic pattern hair loss as it's a genetic condition hardwired into the DNA, but it can be managed to maximize hair thickness, and scalp coverage. You can refer to this video about it - th-cam.com/video/B035EcHqllY/w-d-xo.html
Hi, Rates of hair thinning, and response to the drug vary among men. You can ask your prescribing doctor who knows your hair loss condition, as I haven't assessed your case. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hello dr, both my daughters are having hair loss, they are 10 and 12 and dr is saying its female pattern baldness. Can this be treated with your treatment? Also is it possible it could be something else and not Female pattern baldness? Pls suggest. Thanks
Sorry to hear about your daughters' problem, @user-wh5ro6xb9c. Female pattern hair loss generally doesn't manifest at that age range, and it should be the peak of hair growth and thickness. There are other causes of hair thinning, or severe hair shedding that need to be ruled out with an examination and testing by a doctor experienced with different types of hair loss, usually a dermatologist. Hormonal causes, or autoimmune causes should be diagnosed or ruled out as soon as possible. You can refer to these videos about other causes of hair loss, and hair thinning: th-cam.com/video/rGCPm2tR9bc/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/17pXuj82eQA/w-d-xo.html
Yes Dr, that's what I am concerned about whether it's FPHL or something else. Got all the tests done and only vitamin D deficiency came out. Could that be the reason ?
Hi@@SwatiBajpai-b4d, Vitamin D is important for hair health, but a deficiency should not cause hair loss. Vitamin D is easily obtained by direct sun exposure on the skin, or with vitamin D supplements. A proper diagnosis is still needed to rule out causes mentioned in the videos I sent you. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hey dr Amiya , i know this might sound like a very stupid question but, alot of diseases could be caused by a nocebo effect, can someone get mpb if they keep thinking about it and acting upon it
Hi @Msh3el52, The nocebo effect is primarily for feeling symptoms when you don't actually have the condition. However, male pattern baldness can be physically seen with actively thinning hair, and it's caused by genetics, not by a disease you can possibly contract. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hey Dr amiya , does showering or washing hair daily cause hairloss? Cause i have found out that chlorine is an oxidative stress factor , and oxidative stress could lead to hairloss and cell death or damage, so can daily showering cause hairloss due to chlorine
Hi @Grigg61, Chlorine in tap water, and elevated chlorine levels in swimming pools do not cause hair loss. Washing your hair daily does not cause hair loss. 95% of hair loss cases are causes by pattern hair loss, which is genetic. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hey Kevin, I really want your help Been using minoxodil for a while now Like over two years (Been on fin that time too) Now i have been using topical solution form since its a lot cheaper , through all that usage time i did experience some mild inflammation every now and then (not commonly tho) I have read that minoxodil on the long term could cause inflammatory reaction (due to scalp ph levels) So can this be a cause of scarring since scarring could happen due to inflammation (inflammation isn’t severe but have happened quite a bit of times ) I have noticed thinning in these areas too.
Hi @Blosomawesome, Liquid minoxidil contains propylene glycol to break down the skin barrier for better absorption, but it can also be a skin irritant in many users. Minoxidil doesn't actually thicken thinning hair, but rather delays the natural hair shedding cycle so the scalp looks more full, but if you stop using you are likely to have a sudden and severe hair shed, and lose your gains. You can refer to these videos about the limitations of minoxidil, while finasteride is a better treatment for men, and why our TrichoStem Hair Regeneration patients don't need to use minoxidil after our injection treatment: th-cam.com/video/sv82XSpQfnI/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/cpBqm03zFVg/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/T5iPdCfZ2Ng/w-d-xo.html

TrichoStem Hair Regeneration is a pioneer treatment using the ACell+PRP protocol since 2011, and I had prior experience using ACell before I used it to treat hair loss.
@@AmiyaPrasadMDHi, I'm from India , how feasible it for me to get myself treated at your clinic, how many sessions? How much is the cost ?
Hi@@TD07_,
We treat patients from India quite regularly as many patients only need one treatment session, but the second treatment session when needed is done 18-24 months later.
At its full cost, TrichoStem Hair Regeneration is priced at about half of a single FUT hair transplant, or about a third of an FUE transplant performed in the US. You can contact our offices or our websites for a price range.
Our offices are located in the US in Manhattan, New York City which you can call at (212) 265-8877; Garden City, Long Island at (516) 742-4636; or Vienna, Virginia at (703) 356-1336. You can also reach us through www.prasadcosmeticsurgery.com, www.nyhairloss.com, or www.trichostem.com by filling out a contact form, and we will get back to you. I hope to hear from you soon.
I could take some notes from you when it comes to public speech and presentation 😅
Thank you for your kind words, @pjfour126. Much appreciated! And thanks for watching!
I would assume that Peptides that have been used to help with regrowing hair could be used after doing this procedure for even better results. Also, could a derma roller be used after treatments? Or do you feel it wouldn't be necessary.
Hi @quantumfx2677,
Men with high DHT-sensitivity can maximize their results with a DHT-blocker like finasteride since the TrichoStem Hair Regeneration treatment does not block DHT-formation.
Hi @pj6299,
Sorry, but it isn't possible to send the treatment.
Hi @Tatyanarodrigo,
First I need to clarify that TrichoStem Hair Regeneration uses PRP but it's not the main ingredient.
You can refer to these videos about the limits of DHT-blockers, and how our treatment differs from PRP alone:
th-cam.com/video/4YowPNRsv6I/w-d-xo.html
th-cam.com/video/vZAGaAssewY/w-d-xo.html
@@AmiyaPrasadMD so at the end does the dht in that is in the blood of the sample taken removed from the blood? And then injected?
Would you perform this treatment on a woman in her early 20’s that has female pattern hair loss?
Also, if I perform this treatment, would I have to use Minoxidil or anti-androgenic pills (like birth control) to maintain the results?
The reason I’m asking is because I want to have children soon and I would have to terminate all hair loss medication. So I need a solution that frees me from the need to use Minoxidil or anti androgenic pills.
Hi @user-jp4io9bq4u,
TrichoStem Hair Regeneration is a treatment for female pattern hair loss, but a diagnosis for female pattern hair loss needs to be confirmed. You can refer to these videos on how we diagnose, and treat female pattern hair loss; why our female patients don't need to use minoxidil or spironolactone after our treatment; and why I generally don't prescribe finasteride to women:

How well does this work for someone in their 50s? I don't think that PRP therapy works as well as someone in their 20s so younger blood would be much better. I'm 55 I don't have where I'm bald but have thining hair on top. I believe you are very few and far between in doing real high quality work which is hard to find and I'll be willing to look at what's been done by you and those that got results!
Hi @quantumfx2677,
PRP is not the main ingredient in TrichoStem Hair Regeneration, rather it's extracellular matrix by ACell that is the main ingredient, with PRP as just the activator..
You can refer to this videos on the differences of TrichoStem Hair Regeneration from PRP alone, and the factors of pattern hair loss in men:

Hello sir,
Hope you are well, I am a 17 y/o male with medium thinning along my scalp, well dispersed. My hairline is very slightly receded, and I have thinning in my crown. Please advise me if I should look into prp or stem cell treatment. Please sir
Hi @HimmyNeutron979,
Sorry to hear about your problem. You can refer to this videos on how we diagnose, and treat male pattern hair loss; and why finasteride is important especially for young men with early onset of genetic pattern hair loss:

Hii my hair is really thin and you can see my that my hair line is a bit big and it goes till the back of my head. Growing up i had really thick and long hair but since i turned 17 it started thinning. The thing is that my mom my sister and my brother we all have really thin hair. I’ve been trying hair oiling for a while but I don’t see a big difference. What could be the problem? Is it only genetics? And if so what do you think is the best solution for my hair?
Hi @yarasily8900,
Sorry to hear about your problem.
Hi@@yarasily8900,
Hair falling out in the shower is not hair loss as shed hair grows back.
I am experiencing severe hairfall+ hair thinning from last 4 months
I feel I am being misdiagnosed(female pattern hairloss)
Because my reports are normal except vit D3 for which I am taking supplement from last 3 months... Still hairfall is there and hair thinning is very rapid... Dr please help me I am just devastated
Hi @nidamir7353,
Sorry to hear about your problem. You can refer to these videos on how we diagnose, and treat female pattern hair loss; and other causes of hair thinning in women:

Hi@@nidamir7353,
As detailed in the video, our treatment protocol is different, with only 1-2 treatment sessions lasting 3-5 years, and no need for minoxidil.
Hi @Msh3el52,
Daily shampooing does not cause hair loss.
Hi @Tuber72,
Dandruff does not cause hair loss.
Hi @Cendeyu,
There are some studies that say minoxidil affects newly synthesized collagen, and others say they are inconclusive.
Hi sir ,I hope you are doing Great
Sir I was prescribed with 1mg finastride daily
Now 1 month complete with finastride but my hair loss is not stopping, should I change prescription? what should I do sir I was diagnosed with retrograde alopecia,is it a cure of retrograde alopecia, is it all because of genetics in retrograde alopecia
Hi,
Finasteride is meant to slow hair thinning progression in men by blocking DHT, but it does need to be used continually, not just for one month, and it doesn't stop hair thinning completely even with continued use. DHT-sensitivity is an important factor in male pattern hair loss, but it's not the only factor, which is why a DHT-blocker like finasteride cannot stop hair loss completely. You can refer to these videos about the importance of finasteride in treating male pattern hair loss, the limits of finasteride alone as a hair loss treatment, and how we can go beyond just finasteride alone in thickening thinning hair, and stimulating hair growth from dormant hair follicles:

th-cam.com/video/4YowPNRsv6I/w-d-xo.html
@@AmiyaPrasadMD how much time it takes to slow down hair loss?
Hi,
Finasteride is meant to be taken continually to slow hair thinning, which should have been explained by your prescribing doctor. There is no cure for genetic pattern hair loss as it's a genetic condition hardwired into the DNA, but it can be managed to maximize hair thickness, and scalp coverage. You can refer to this video about it - th-cam.com/video/B035EcHqllY/w-d-xo.html
@@AmiyaPrasadMD but what time I feel slow down in hair loss
Hi,
Rates of hair thinning, and response to the drug vary among men.
You can refer to these videos about other causes of hair loss, and hair thinning:
th-cam.com/video/rGCPm2tR9bc/w-d-xo.html
th-cam.com/video/17pXuj82eQA/w-d-xo.html
Yes Dr, that's what I am concerned about whether it's FPHL or something else. Got all the tests done and only vitamin D deficiency came out. Could that be the reason ?
Hi@@SwatiBajpai-b4d,
Vitamin D is important for hair health, but a deficiency should not cause hair loss. Vitamin D is easily obtained by direct sun exposure on the skin, or with vitamin D supplements. A proper diagnosis is still needed to rule out causes mentioned in the videos I sent you. I hope this clarifies things for you.
@@AmiyaPrasadMD Thankyou so much Dr. What all tests do you suggest to rule out the main cause ?
Hi@@SwatiBajpai-b4d,
They are detailed in the videos you sent you.
Hey dr Amiya , i know this might sound like a very stupid question but, alot of diseases could be caused by a nocebo effect, can someone get mpb if they keep thinking about it and acting upon it
Hi @Msh3el52,
The nocebo effect is primarily for feeling symptoms when you don't actually have the condition.
Hi @Grigg61,
Chlorine in tap water, and elevated chlorine levels in swimming pools do not cause hair loss. Washing your hair daily does not cause hair loss. 95% of hair loss cases are causes by pattern hair loss, which is genetic. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hey Kevin,
I really want your help
Been using minoxodil for a while now
Like over two years
(Been on fin that time too)
Now i have been using topical solution form since its a lot cheaper , through all that usage time i did experience some mild inflammation every now and then (not commonly tho)
I have read that minoxodil on the long term could cause inflammatory reaction (due to scalp ph levels)
So can this be a cause of scarring since scarring could happen due to inflammation (inflammation isn’t severe but have happened quite a bit of times )
I have noticed thinning in these areas too.
Hi @Blosomawesome,
Liquid minoxidil contains propylene glycol to break down the skin barrier for better absorption, but it can also be a skin irritant in many users. Minoxidil doesn't actually thicken thinning hair, but rather delays the natural hair shedding cycle so the scalp looks more full, but if you stop using you are likely to have a sudden and severe hair shed, and lose your gains.
You can refer to these videos about the limitations of minoxidil, while finasteride is a better treatment for men, and why our TrichoStem Hair Regeneration patients don't need to use minoxidil after our injection treatment:
