    Coming from an absolute newbie sewer, you sold me on this pattern. (It was already in my shopping cart but I wasn't sure I should get it.) I will start out with t-shirts but as soon as I build up some experience I'll move on to these. Your comment of "I actually think if you've never made a pair of trousers before these could be a good place to start..." was just the encouragement I needed. I really enjoyed your review and the pants look great on you!

    Really cute pants and, as you say, very flattering. They will be wonderful in linen for summer. I look forward to seeing future iterations. Thanks, as always, for the admission of difficulties with fit. I'm totally impressed with what you already did! I'm finding this the most intimidating thing about sewing. Your courage at forging on ahead is inspiring and the results very encouraging.

    I bought the pattern when it first came out and made the full length pair. I measured the crotch depth on the pattern as these were the first tailored trousers I have made but didn't meed to make any changes except to use the inch side seams to make them fit tighter. I absolutely love them and felt they were easy to make. I actually like the buttoned fly as well. I have seen a lot of the cropped version so will be making that one next and I want to make the shorts version too. I love my Landers!!

    Thank you for your Lander Pattern review! You inspired me to give the pattern a go :) I finished my shorts muslin. Now, I'm waiting on my fabric to arrive. My plan is to make 2 pairs of shorts and 1 pair of view b. Thank you again for the info. and inspiration!

    Thanks for the review, I've been looking at this pattern for a while, but wasn't sure how it would fit on a pear shaped body. It certainly looks great on you and you've given me the information needed to go ahead and make a purchase , I see shorts for the summer as well xx

    • @CraftWerk
      @CraftWerk  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm pear shaped and I love them. I personally always prefer a high waist on my body shape and these feel like they sort of skim over the hips which flatters without over accentuating them. I wasn't planning to make the shorts because I just avoid anything above the knee, even in the summer, but I think I'll definitely give the Lander shorts a go! Thanks for watching ☺️❤️

    these look great on you Ruthie and I agree I think you could defiinitely go down a size, regarding the black black denim, I have found you need to go for a black canvas twill fabric rather than a denim to get a true black (I used to be a goth lol) love your pattern reviews keep them coming, I'm planning to make these myself later this year, Rach x

    Thanks for the review. Love these. Classic cut. 😊 I've just watched Boz at Fabric Magpie who showed us, what she said is a very black denim which is now available at her online store.

      Occured to me that if you really want denim you could look for 'overdyed' denim or dye black denim to make the weft black too!

    Hi Ruthie, I love love love these trousers and think that they may end up being my first trouser make👍. They look amazing on you and I love the exposed button fly.... I think it's that detail that makes the pattern stylish and different. I always love it if I know there is a good sew along on line😁. Thanks so much for sharing and good luck with your next plans👍😘

    I really love the high waist on these!!, could you please do a video on all the indie pattern houses you have tried and tested before? (pros and cons) as I have only just started my sewing journey but found that i really do prefer the styles of indie designers. At the top of my head, I only know about a handful of them. BTW the lander pants looks really adorable with your kalle shirt/blouse!

      Melissa Domacassee thank you! I never quite know how long things take me as I tend to do little bits here and there rather than do it all in one big session... but I reckon about 6-8 hours in total, including cutting out? It’s definitely not a super long make 👍

    Forgot to ask in my last comment: is the dark blue top self-drafted or made from a purchased pattern? Turning 60 today so cropped top not going to happen but I love the boxy shape of this and the neckline - looks fantastic with the trousers and so modern. Advice for how to recreate welcome!

    • @CraftWerk
      @CraftWerk  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kelley Spoerl thank you! It’s self-drafted from a bit of scrap fabric, and I did it aaaages ago but it would have been similar to this th-cam.com/video/Kzq1b7Ipr3Y/w-d-xo.html. However the armholes are wider and then therefore so are the sleeves. I hope that helps a bit? I might do a video with all the variations that I’ve done on that particular drop shoulder jumper...

      Watched this during a snow day yesterday and found it fascinating and maybe doable for a newbie? It actually made me regret that we have only one month of winter left in New Hampshire. But I can always get ahead on sewing for next fall and winter, right? Will definitely give this a go - once I get Tilly's new book, digest it, and make my first forays into sewing with knits (haven't tried yet). Do not have an overlocker, but am thinking of trying to buy one secondhand. Might need it for the Kielo dress, and yes, a sewalong or pattern review from you on this will be very welcome because Ruthie ALWAYS tells the truth. And yes, a pattern review on the SewOverIt jacket that I saw on your Instagram this morning would be wonderful too. Thanks for the birthday greetings too - hopefully my enthusiasm shows that you can find new things to be excited about even when you get older, especially if you have great sources of inspiration on social media!

    Really, really interested in making these pants but in the process of losing a significant amount of weight. In your experience making these pants, how difficult do you believe it would be to eventually alter them down 2-3 sizes while retaining a flattering fit and not making design features such as the back pockets look oversized?

    • @CraftWerk
      @CraftWerk  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know the feeling. I had to take them in quite a lot at the side seams anyway and that was absolutely fine. It really depends on how your body changes though so it's hard to say. If you make them in a lighter weight fabric (although still 'bottom weight' like a linen) I think they'll still look ok a little bit looser though? Maybe give them a go in a fabric that isn't too expensive and then when your body changes you can try taking them in or make another pair? The back pocket only comes in 3 sizes anyway with them grouped in kind of a small, medium or large and honestly there isn't a huge amount of difference. That would be a very easy aspect to change as well, just unpick, resize and resew- they're just patch pockets anyway. I hope that helps and good luck!

    Hi Ruthie! I'm so glad you didn't wait to review this pattern. I just love it and will definitely be giving it a try. I have no bum and no waist to speak of so we'll see how good they look on someone with a very different figure than yours. They look GREAT on you so I'm hoping for the best.
    Regarding fabric...you might try searching for "black twill fabric" instead of "black denim". You'll get a fabric with less white thread incorporated and thus, a blacker look. I found this one, although it's a US site, but you'll get the idea if you zoom in.
