I really enjoy your videos. I'm 64 years old and live in the USA, but you remind me so much of my younger self: greenhouse, plants, flowers, landscaping, DIY, budget friendly makeovers, love of animals, nature, etc. So relaxing to watch. ❤️

I think your kitchen looks absolutely lovely. I know you want to change the splashback but the design looks fab and really stands out with the gold hardware.

I'm a renter and I'm not really allowed to paint. I decided to use peel and stick wallpaper on my main living room wall. It's a beautiful deep navy blue. It was super easy (as long as you take your time) and it looks amazing! It cost $75. I get so many compliments...including from my landlord!! Love your videos!!! Happy crafting everyone!😊

I painted my cupboard doors, very like yours, good quality cabinets, just old and a terrible 1970's green! Cost me £50 for paint, the best thing I've done. That was 3/4 years ago, still looking good. Well worth the time and effort.

I know whatever decorative backsplash you choose will be lovely but I must say, this one is lovely also and I especially like the way the metallic sheen catches the light and really stands out when you glance into the kitchen. Perhaps a more gold tone metallic floral would be lovely with the gold hardware you already have?

It's so good to see the things that didn't work as well as those that do! Such a shame that those stickers didn't last in the laundry nook..but at least it's in a hidden corner 😄 I can't afford a new kitchen (they're biiig budget dreams 😄) but I really want to create a pantry area. I have a little corner that just feels like wasted space, so would be really interested to see what you make for your little niche xx

I think her name is Shay from Studio McGee 🤔 Her home is beautiful, as is yours. Your kitchen is so lovely and fresh. Some applicances you can change the door to open on the opposite side so maybe could work with your fridge?

Peel and Stick - try re-attaching with dots hot glue or even a good smear of Pritt Stick .... I’ve used both in the past and both work quite well and are durable.
And ..... controversially, I love the way that Cricut vinyl catches the light as you enter the kitchen (quite like the traditional, Greek-style shape too 😄)

Peel and stick over a washer and dryer might not work because of the slight damp or steam.
      Try stencil.

Even though I love the sage color, the kitchen does look brighter and airy. As far as the tile behind the stove, maybe a scenic design rather than an individual design on each tile.....just an idea. I'm sure whatever you decide it'll look great! 😊

Yours is one of the prettiest kitchens I've seen! I love EVERYTHING you've done including the gold stencils on the backsplash- real Wow-factor there! I love the floor in mine, but every time i think, oh i could paint the cabinets, replace the bench tops, but then i think it would be a waste of money. What i really need is a new set of cabinets, these have been bodged together by a bloke who knew only a bit more about carpentry than i do (zero).

I love the light and brightness of your kitchen and the countertops make the space seem larger. If I could redo our kitchen remodel from a few years ago, I would have had new cabinets and drawers installed. We opted for new appliances instead. I have learned to make it work, but it would have been nice to get more drawers atleast.

I put up vinyl tiles up as a splashback and it’s now a year on and I love it. They were bought in the bargain basement section of ikea and can be wall or floor tiles and was easy to install. HUGE impact to a old tired kitchen.

  • @daymonv3736
    @daymonv3736 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I used peel and stick tiles. You have to prep the wall first. If your paint was a semi-gloss, you needed to get a degreaser or delaminator that would take the shine off of it and give it a better stick. I think that may have been why they didn't stay there. Another possibility is that it might get too humid in there when the washer and dryer are going. Also, my two cents on the vinyl that you have on your backsplash. When you first put it up I didn't really like it, but I've come to fall in love with it over the past few months of seeing it. I think it looks really good juxtaposed to the gold picture frames across the room.

I love the idea of open plan (regarding future plans to maybe open up your kitchen and living room) but it does increase your energy costs as the space is increased. Australian homes are notoriously far from airtight, they are difficult to keep warm during winter unless you have ducted throughout or your home is designed in such a way that heating transfers down the corridors without difficulty. We spent most of our winter just past in one room with doors firmly closed, dog, cats and people. Otherwise it’s thick socks, jumpers, dressing gowns everywhere else 🥶

We bought a 1965 stone house that had a very large kitchen but only a few cabinets on one side. We didn't want to spend a lot because we had just retired and I bought a whole trailer full of oak cabinets for $400 that had been taken out of a house. I painted them and now I have a full kitchen full on both sides and I have 11 drawers!

Failure in my kitchen: using water-based polyurethane on cabinets leaves water streaks, so I used the regular polyurethane on upper cabinets with a stain of golden oak on red oak wood which has held up wonderfully. I too love Thieves however I found a more affordable dupe with same ingredients called Revive, Immunity Boost.

I’m actually in the middle of redoing my kitchen. I am painting all my cabinets white, painting my walls a lighter grey and thinking of about painting my countertops too, I’m just nervous about the countertops. Thank you for all your inspiration! ❤️Ana

Check out Benjamin Moore Edgecomb Gray. I find it stays warm in all lighting

I love your kitchen, it is very bright and so pretty. We did a kitchen reno just last February and I love all of my choices except for the fridge enclosure. It has huge double shelves above it and it doesn't really go with the rest of my vintage looking kitchen. One day I may be able to make a change, perhaps. Thanks for the video, I missed you last week.

Yey your back ☺️... I more like the design and color of your kitchen now than the original look of it before. I also love the pink one that you've painted, that's my favorite color too. ☺️

What a grand idea for a video to follow up on your diy. You do things well and thoroughly, thinking things out as you go. Are we coming round to yours for the party? Have a great week Catherine.😀😀😀

Great video Catherine. I think your kitchen always looks good ☺️. I have a faux brick wall in mine that was done many many years ago, and I still love it 😊.

I was thinking something floral for the tiles too. Some geometrics can be cute but any time I've tried them they seem to clash with my favorite more traditional/botanical styles. Love the warm -white- beige in the right lighting haha

Hi Catherine thanks for the update. I like the color of your cabinets. Your kitchen looks lovely and bright. We have 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, the kitchen and livingroom are one big room. It took us 6 years to remodel our house. 1 room a year because of money. 👍👍💚❤
