I disagree, I reckon they are plagued with problems that make it over rated. They cant even make over 500HP without some SERIOUS engine rebuilding and heaps of money. And i reckon they sound like a 4cyl when you take one of the spark plugs out and run it on 3. the only subbi engine i think sounds good is the ej20
@@rtorbs I agree. I have always thought to have fun on a twisty B road, you don’t need anymore than 200bhp per tonne. To add to this, the lighter the car the more fun it is (down to around 500kgs). My GF has a C1 with a rotrex kit and it’s amazing!
Not in Switzerland. Subarus and BMWs are the most overrated cars here. Cheapest WRX in the country is 15'000 pounds with 160'000 miles and questionable modifications.
@@atom608 the car has uneven headers that give it the unique sound. Even with equal length (some guys like them for performance) the engine still has a unique note, but sounds more like a Honda.

I built one of these 5 years ago that made just over 600bhp on pump fuel. The current STI platform is really good and a lot more refined than previous generations. They handled pretty good out of the box but with a few upgrades to brakes and handling they deal with 600bhp well and it is a very fun and rewarding drive. I know why that owner has such a smile on his face.

Completely underrated cars!! I had a Subaru WRX STI 330s about 2 years about, it was completely stock and it used to just eat up the majority of cars on the road and the handling... was incredible. This makes me miss is so much... can someone give me a hug please? 😂

Always loved a subi with unequal lenght headers.I know these fa engines are not that popular yet.Most parts available are for the older ej engines but nice to see the fa set up like this,it did cost alot of money but it's obviously worth every penny.Nice one and lovely owner, also love the fact that his misses is involved. I've got a 2013 Subaru WRX STI saloon and they're absolutely heroic cars. You have to work to get anything out of them and while you may not be going as fast as the other guy you're having way much more fun.
The car I will always miss the most was my version 8 wrx sti 430bhp. Smiles from that boxer engine with the td04 20g tubro 😁 plus the famous scooby wave to all other scooby drivers.
Owner comes across as a brilliant bloke. Loves his car, and dedicated his earnings to making some serious mods. I did expect it to be faster, but in the wet I guess traction is the limiting factor, and I'd expect it to be 4 seconds dead in the dry.
