I like all opals. They're one of the most beautiful minerals on the planet.
That's a new one, very objective test too.
You have to keep in mind that some Ethiopian opals are not hydrophane and do not react with water.
But they would react with oils?
@@staceyl8255 Oils work, but give a yellow tint and doesn't dry out.
I'm a little high right now but I'm wondering why he keeps calling the letters numbers? Number A number B lol
hmmm confused maybe. Now that I watch it again I can't stop laughing
Hahaha, can't stop laughing at this!
Lol
simple, direct and informative! Thank you!
Aahh, of course, it is easier if you can test in water😄
We were going only from the sight...😆
Thank you for this great video and explanation👍
Great tips, but there are Brazilian opals as well!!! Thanks for sharing!!!!!!💯💯💯💖❤💜🧡💛💚💙
é muito lindo, Deus abençoe vc meu amigo beautilful'god bless you my friend like
How come if you cut ethiopian opal it cracks when ya done?
OK I slightly new to the difference. Is it possible to fix the stone, IE if you use 50,000 grit diamond compound in Final polish would it tend to fill the porous surface of the hydroplane stone?
Also, Ethiopian opal won't crack like Australian opal. Hard to fake hydrophane.
Lol HUH???!!!!
Wow that's so cool 😊
I have thousands of opals how can sell them with u guys
I like how he showed the problem with Ethiopian opal without disrespecting it. It is nice opal, but it also has its drawbacks
You could say there is a problem with the Australian opals as well. Ask how much to buy and all of a sudden the Australian has a problem when it comes to cost. I agree though I liked how he didn't disrespect a beautiful opal.
After take out opal from water, how long Ethiopian opal will turn back in normal condition.
A, E, F: Australian
B,C, D: Ethiopian?🤔
I haven't watch the whole video before my comment, so I hope there is an answer in it😁
A is fire opal of white opal ?
Some people selling it as fire opal from Australia
hahaha! i got two! ethiopian opals has higher hydrophane content meaning color movement is stronger.
Hydrophane is not a constituant, it is a quality, it is the ability to absorb water. Leave a hydrophane opal in water and it becomes clear. Let it dry out and the colors return. It has nothing to do with "color movement", whatever you mean by that.
I guessed 4 right, the 2 smallest ones i wasn't sure of.
Can Ethiopian opals be soaked in resin or polymer to create a permanently clear stone?
Not that I am aware of. That would be a cool test to do though
Brilliant!!! Iv just bought my first semi black opal from lightening ridge.
I got it from America on eBay it's not arrived yet but when it does it going straight in the water and if it's not right it's going straight back to America.
To be fair they are a reputable company, but we will see ha'ha.
Thanks mate from Liverpool England!!!
Ps can you tell me a good company in oz I can deal with !!!
Could be the seller, not the country (if there's a problem).
Do you have fire opal ?
I thought I'd get it all wrong being a newbie, but I got two right yay. F and A were obvious but the cloudy one and C's tint really threw me off. Looks like I have some ways to go to be able to tell by sight. :p
