It's almost two different songs, the album version is much more "violent" in a way, while this one is more hypnotic, it's using a lot more effects (feedback, sustain..).. But I can understand you

when ppl say they suck live, i hope they mean in their stage persona not with the quality of the music that they play because they nail everything they play. my theory for explaining why they dont throw themselves around is maybe they are nervous to in case they stuff up. they have always said its about the music for them....

@Dampyy just because they're not jumping around thumping the guitar and singing in an exaggerated yorkshire accent, that doesnt mean its bad. Why do people only like fast music these days? This is fucking rock and roll genius.
They could have made out a MUCH better live performance outta this amazing song.
Unfortunately their live performances I always noticed since '05 Alex especially, in performances is rather dull energy wise and almost lacks enthusiasm for what he's doing. Although he does perform rather well. I don't know if its the love of RHCP (or my personality as a performer) .But this was weird and a titch disappointing but still love their music.

@@constantinneghina9833 He's developed nicely but their sound is no longer for me. And Ironically they're a certified household name now. Others highlight Alex's early lyrics about not taking one's self too serious. Seems he does now? I don't know it's ironic nonetheless.

@Tedaus5 Lol. I love Humbug, I just dont see the point in playing it if they're going to do their humbug-thingy on it. I say, keep their new music as it is, and keep the old ones like they are. Dont try to do something in between like this, it only makes it painfull to see.

What the guy it's trying to say, and i agree, it's only that THIS SONG (and some others too) would be better if they didnt change it that much. They've tried to 'Humbug It' and it felt way too different. I really like Humbug songs but i wish they could play their old songs in a way, NOT IDENTICAL, but similar to what it was before. I KNOW THAT THEY DO WHAT THEY WANT BECAUSE THE SONGS ARE THEIRS. But it's just an opinion.

I was totally there. Traveled from Wales just to see them. Awesome gig but not as good live as they are now. That horrible low sounding instrument in the background gets irritating too here.
