I want to do a bunch of Re-reads next year. I’ve only read the first book in The History of Dragons and I want to read more! Same with Name of the Wind!
That one Dresden a day was extremely exceptional, no worries, lol. I definitely can't dedicate that much time reading these days, though I can still spend maybe 5, 6 hours on a typical day.
Oh I agree with a lot of these, especially: First Law, Malazan and ASOIAF. First Law - I prefer Age of Madness as a story but I prefer the original trilogy and most of the standalones. The standalones and Age of Madness have the better female characters in my opinion. Thats so cool that you were a waiter for the series. My Mum read them not long after they came out and i only read them almost 5 years ago. Dresden Files - Same. Top 3 Ongoing series easily. So bingeable. I'm torn between doing a re-read or read Codex Alera while we're waiting for 12 Months. Malazan - I need to restart my own re-read 😅 Locke Lamora - Adore those books. LotR - I was enjoying them as I was reading them but i think they're more books I respect and appreciate more than I actually like, and really really enjoyed them but I'd sooner read Memory, Sorrow & Thorn again than I would LotR. ASOIAF - I kept putting off my re-read because I wanted to read Memory, Sorrow & Thorn now I just need to finish Realm of the Elderlings (2 books left) and then I'll do my re-read 😅
- First Law: I actually restarted it already, I got too excited and bumped it up, lol. I'm on Before They Are Hanged. It's absolutely living up so far. - Dresden: Codex Alera is worth looking at if you're into classic fantasy, its okay the first two books but really gets fun from the 3rd. I plan to re-read Dresden whenever we have a date for Twelve Months! - LoTR: I'm in the same place, when I read them I appreciated a lot about them but I didn't really enjoy them per se. I want to revisit it mainly to see if that's changed or not.
I am envious that you have time to reread stuff and all of these are long series. Good luck with the reread. Hope you enjoy these as much as your first time.
Thank you! I have no idea how soon I'll be re-reading any of these beyond the few I mentioned I want to read in the near future. I'll also definitely do Dresden again before the next book, but for the rest, whenever the mood strikes!
Yea, the way I read them the first time's not what I'd call well-adjusted behaviour, lol. Your pace is probably how my re-read's going to go in the best case scenario, whenever I get around to it.
Im also not the biggest fan of Lord of The Rings probably for the same reason as you. It is a series I think I should read again just because its so important to fantasy. I also think going into with a different mind set may help.
That's one consensus I've never agreed with. Erikson gives you more than enough to understand what's going on at the time, and like the Cosmere there's plenty to enjoy on a re-read. It's absolutely worth the read.
@OnlyTheBestFantasyNovels You are the first person to say that. Most people say it's hard, you need to take notes, nothing makes sense until multiple books. That all sounds exhausting
@@Already-Overbooked Damn, it's not a text book, lol. Give it a shot, I think you'll find it's rep is overblown. It's definitely a book you want to take your time with, but it's not like trying to read something in another language or something.
I’m gonna do my lord of the rings re read in December, or at least plan too lol. Congratulations on 300 subscribers!!
@@PoorPersonsBookReviewer thanks! Let's see if it manages to stay above 300 😂

Most of this list is my list of series I want to read again 🤯
Wow, I keep being amazed at your reading stamina! One Dresden-book a day! Most of those series I still have to read for a first time!

A natural history of dragons sounds really good 😊😊 I have to try Joe Abercrombie one day too 😊
It is, one of my all time favorite series and a highly underrated one at that!

I binged Dresden also, but it took 2 months rather than 2 weeks.

Yea, the mindset will definitely matter. It's worth at least taking another crack at.
I haven't read Malazan yet but I really want to but it seems intimidating

@@OnlyTheBestFantasyNovels 🤣 😂 Good to know I have book 1 on my shelf and I will definitely read it in 2025.
I wish I could read fast. It takes me days, weeks to finish a book.
I'm actually a slow reader too! I just spend an ungodly amount of time reading on a daily basis so it adds up, ha.
