Love how you talk about your recommendations. So casual yet very attentive to the details and how they resonate with you. You really sold me on American Bulk, that’ll definitely be a 2025 read. Glad your channel got recommended, cant wait for future recommendations/reviews!
first video ive seen of yours, you definitely convinced me to read beautyland! and ive already had my eye on I who have never known men and this is just another push for me to pick it up. I loved that Saunders quote as well. I read a lot of his work for a university course this year and I am excited to reads more by him now without the pressure of school, I tend to enjoy books more outside of academia. I also love this format of reading quotes to give the watcher the gist of the book, definitely going to take inspiration from this for my own top books of the year wrap up. new subscriber!
I’m so glad this recap was recommended to me!! I love your taste & vibe so it was an instant subscribe and I’m excited to come along for future videos xxx
I love Deborah Levy’s books, the Neapolitan quartet one of my favorites and enjoyed Saunders a few years ago and would like to re read! Great video, you inspired me to read a few I didn’t think would interest me. Thanks 📚
agree! realizing now i rarely crack open / read any books at the bookstore before i purchase? weird to admit... time to change this. would have saved me a few DNFs this year
@ReadWriteReese I always read the first sentence and sometimes the first page if it's a book I'm picking up on a whim - not that this hasn't led me astray, but it's been useful often enough. unfortunately, harder to do for online shopping sprees... when in doubt, I have to dig in storygraph/online reviews
The ending of the essay about fat camp in American Bulk really got me too. And Beautyland is one of my favorite books of the year as well (it also has an amazing last line). I’m excited to discover your channel-it seems like we have similar taste in books!
The cost of living! I'll get this book! I have been wondering for a very long time if I should read it or not 😅 I tried to read the first Napolitano book by Elena F, but I felt so confused with so many characters. I ended up putting it down, but I think I will try it again. Lovely video 😊
yes! definitely read the cost of living and give my brilliant friend another try. i'd recommend a physical version if you can, my book had a reference in the beginning of all the families/characters and it was very helpful to flip back to while reading :)
i read the story of a new name this year and loved it! i am going (extremely) slowly through the series and wasn't blown away by my brilliant friend but sooooo glad i kept going.
Great idea... to convince others; and well done. Some intriguing books - none of which I have read, but ones I think I shall. Thanks, Reese, and Merry Season to you!
