  • @colubrinedeucecreative
    @colubrinedeucecreative 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hey. great. and helpful video! I worry though; had you considered wearing gloves when you sand the edges of the glass? That thing is spinning at what, 8k rpm? I could imagine you hit that frequency of the glass that makes it shatter, and possibly going into your fingers? I still have tons to learn about all this, this being the third video on the subject. I look forward to seeing the Sri Yantra dream catcher! Super amazing idea!

    • @StainedGlassDIY
      @StainedGlassDIY  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Christopher Harper I’m actually more afraid the gloves would catch and get spun inside but you don’t push hard at all on it and it seems pretty safe. Now drilling a hole in glass is a whole different level 😱

  • @asilsesom3680

    I have always wanted to do stained glass, but it is very intimidating to me. Cutting the glass seems fairly easy, but the soldering May as well be something from another planet to me. What advice can you give a lover and want to be creator of stained glass art. Thanx

    • @StainedGlassDIY
      @StainedGlassDIY  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      So glad you want to get into stained glass but don't worry it's not that hard! The best thing is to start with bigger pieces like 4inch plus. Do a simple square cut and solder that to get a feel. 90 degree joints (like a T) will help you gain confidence on soldering junctions. I would avoid doing tiny pieces at first b/c they will be a pain to work with from cutting, grinding, and soldering work. Hope that helps and go for it! :)

      Look up and see if there are any stained glass businesses in your area. Small businesses that make church installations or windows for clients tend to have lots of cast offs left over after a project. Doesn’t hurt to ask if they have any already cut pieces their willing to sell just to get it out of their hair, I got over 200 pieces of beautiful glass for $100 with this method.

    • @StainedGlassDIY
      @StainedGlassDIY  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The silver and black backing can show thru the glass so best to match patina color to the foil color. E.g silver back if no patina to leave everything silver. Black back for black patina. It's very minor details but sometimes with clear glass it shows and you want to keep it in mind.
