    I'm a beekeeper with three hives of my own. As soon as I saw this project I just had to give it a go as a novice glass cutter. I'm delighted with the results - one finished in copper and the other in black patina. The bees haven't expressed an opinion of my work - they are too busy hitting all the early flowering plants at the moment. Keep the ideas and challenges flowing.

      Bee keeping seems super interesting and I would keep them if I had a place of my own. I'm happy you made your own honeycomb! Thanks and keep the bees busy 😁🐝

    Great informative videos. A tip when grinding glass or tile using a stone - place a thin sponge in a container slightly larger than the grinding stone with the stone sitting on the sponge, fill with water to just cover the stone. Dip the pieces of glass in the water before grinding. This will help to keep the glass or tile sand particles getting into your lungs.

      @@StainedGlassDIY I had a Victorian window I built many years ago which had a circle in the center. I cut out the circle and it was just wrong, so I cut a different circle and that didn't work, I finally cut a third and settled on it..but it still wasn't perfect. That was my hardest color match problem, But you're right, most of the time glass just looks great, which is what makes it such a good art form!

      @@GommStainedGlass Ah color matching to a restoration would probably be tough. But in my case, when I have a hard time deciding on colors, I try to remember that it's glass and it'll most likely look great in any color! Now I wanna go get more glass 😆🤣

    Great project thanks, being an amateur entomologist it was fitting to do. This was my first ever project (maybe a bit complicated for a first) so it didn't turn out perfect but it still looks great to me. I learnt many valuable lessons, how to cut a straight line, why you stick to the inside of the line, why you use the same sized glass( I added clear 2mm to my coloured 3-4mm and this made soldering very tricky). Love your videos and I bought a lot of my tools/equipment based on your videos. Thanks.

    Excellent videos! You inspired me to start making glass projects. I never even soldered before and I just completed my first 3 glass pieces, #1 was this honeycomb. I bought a bee bevel cluster from Delphi glass and soldered that to the honeycomb (because I'm a beginner and can't cut around the bee yet). I sent you pics on FB. I'm happy to say my projects came out surprisingly great for someone doing it for the very first time. Turns out I love soldering. Who knew?! Anyway, thanks for putting all this out there and helping people discover a new art form. Watching you do this made me think I could do it too and I'm glad I gave it a shot. Thanks a million.

    Nice! I cut glass but never tried to do any stains glad work, it's on my future. Regarding cuts, I noticed that you might not be keeping the cutting wheel pressure the same toward the end of the cut making some cuts require sanding to correct. It might help if you pull the cutting wheel toward you instead of push it away from you. The first impression on the glass typically stays more even when you pull, while pushing tendencies are lighter as the hand goes away from your body. Just a possibility that might work for many. It's all about the cut with glass crafting.... best wishes love the vid. Cant wait to get stained glass!

    Heads up, I think your hexagon is going to have one side a little bigger than the rest. A semicircle is 3.14 times the radius, so using this way you're going to fit 6 lines into 6.28 times your compass. I could be wrong though.

    • @ssofu9984
      @ssofu9984 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      When you fit your compass to radius you cıt into six equal pieces. Imagine you cut circle into six triangles from the center. Each will have 60 degrees angle at the center and 60 on each sides for their base. You do not measıre arc but lines correaponding to arcs, just to remind

    • @hankthetank7777
      @hankthetank7777 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ssofu9984 I totally agree, if you have 60 degree angles, you will divide the hexagon perfectly and equally. I'm just trying to warn that if you use the radius, you won't get 60 degree angles, they will be a tiny bit off.
