Thanks for the breakdown. Very well put together video. One thing i noticed with freezing bosses is that after the initial freeze, there is a time when i have very little freeze build-up. Then, after that, i get regular build up.
If I have over 75% cold exposure in build does using a skill like hypothermia that does -33% to target resistance still reduce further for more damage?
In the development tree you can use "icebreaker" which gives 100% energy shield as an additional freezing threshold, I wonder if this applies to opponents or if it makes my character immune to freezing, can you tell me how it works?
Does anyone know if a cold crit gets around the freeze time gate the devil just implemented about a week ago now? Not sure if I should eventually try speccing into crit or not
Hey, this is nice. I was trying to research whether ailment magnitute (jewel modifier) affects freeze in any way. Like in terms of build-up or duration, especially.
Thanks for the video. I tried infusing cold damage into my fragmentation shot, but it only applies chill, the freeze icon buildup does not appear. Am i doing something wrong?
Yes. If you read the skill description, it says cannot freeze. So even if you use cold infusion, freeze wont build up. Probably should have mentioned this in the video that some skills cannot freeze at all. These exceptions are mentioned in skill description
I'm using the ring that lets you shatter chilled enemies. Sometimes I am building freeze to enemies without them getting chilled. Whats up with that? It must be some kind of chance to chill
Heres my big question - Freeze is based on damage delt. Do "X% more Freeze buildup" effects happen before or AFTER "%increased damage" nodes, since the damage you deal would directly contribute to your freeze buildup?
Hello! I play as a mercenary, I have a crossbow with additional cold damage, but for some reason I only apply freeze, without chilling. What needs to be done to get me to apply chilling? I know that some people use cooling in conjunction with the Polcirkeln Sapphire Ring and Herald of Ice, i want the same
The reason attacks wont generate chill is because it has low chill magnitude. Basically you will need to bump up cold damage, which increases chill magnitude, and you will be able to see chill on enemies
so " 26% increased Freeze Threshold" does that mean i am making it harder for myself to freeze something? it reads like the opposite of what i want to accomplish
@@koawhkaine if it applies to you, means monsters will take more time to freeze you. Have to check how the text is actually written. Because later in game some monsters can do lot of cold damage and freeze you
I came here looking for a different type of info, I'm familiar with freeze buildup from last epoch ,but there is one thing I'm not 100% sure about it in poe2. do you actually need more than 100% freeze buildup?
Freeze buildup happens by a fixed rate. It can be increased using modifiers like "100% faster freeze buildup". This 100% is not additive, its multiplicative. Meaning, it will only double the speed of freeze rate. So 200% faster freeze buildup is triple the speed of freeze buildup. So yeah, we can utilize more than 100% freeze buildup
Perfect video, thank you!

Thanks a lot. I noticed the same. Right after a freeze, the buildup is very slow for few seconds.
It's so you can't just stunlock a boss to death.

Great Guide

Thanks for the video. However it did not answer my question coming here. How does crit damage relate to freeze buildup if at all?
crit is more damage which is more freeze

26% increased Freeze Threshold" does that mean i am making it harder for myself to freeze something? it reads like the opposite of what i want to accomplish

@@siddgang came here to find out if it was useful to have more than 100% "increase Freeze Buildup" specced. Thanks!
Does freeze buildup scales with damage per hit like cold does? Or is freeze applied at a flat rate, depending on skill +modifiers?
Thankfully it does not. No concept of freeze magnitude. It can scale with freeze buildup multipliers.
