When he broke his arm I will be honest he looked uncomfortable when they told him to break his arm. Then when he broke it I saw real regret in his eyes. Then I loved when Miguel said Kreese got in his head. Then he saved Demetri from Cobra Kai. That was amazing scene and he looked at Cobra Kai. When he saw Demetri helpless and they fought Cobra Kai together.
Eli truly hatred what he had done the moment he did it. In the house fight, it finally became clear to him when he saw he was helping the very pricks that bullied him hurt his own binary brother. Thankfully, he stepped away from that path and became a total badass.

Perhaps Demetri accidentally went overboard and didn't leave enough room for Eli to express himself, but his intention was obviously coming from a place of love. Ultimately, Demetri didn't want Eli to get hurt doing karate, or hurt other people. And it's clear from Eli's body language that he didn't mind, and even felt pleased and relieved about it at the time (see how Eli smiles at Demetri at 0:08, happy to let Demetri chat to Miguel for both of them). Throughout the show, Eli always looks eagerly to Demetri for a response after he speaks, too, in both the earliest and the last seasons, so it's obvious Eli wants and values Demetri's input.
