When you were working on the combine to set up everything, I was reminded of something from my early childhood that my Grandparents used to do with several other neighbor farms every fall.
Each farm had similar crops every year, but each of them alone did not have all of the tools or hands to get all the equipment ready for harvest efficiently.
So for several days early fall, each day everyone from all the farms would show up at one farm to work together to set up each farm for the harvest as a team.
Each farmer would bring what tools they had to each farm as appropriate and they would all work together to get things fixed/aligned/lubed/inspected as needed.
Instead of one or two people working on equipment at a farm, it would be 8-10 people for a day or two.
Once one farm was ready, everyone moved on to the next farm that needed to be made ready.
I'm not sure how the pecking order was set, but if I recall they tried to work from smallest to largest farms.
Bonus benefit from that activity was shared familiarity with each others equipment so that sometimes they could borrow equipment from each other when something broke.
Additional bonus: Some farms had more to harvest than others, so everyone would come help if they got done before the others.
Additional bonus: My favorite thing about all of this was the excellent food served during and after each prep day as all farms would bring food too!!
To my young eyes, it was like a harvest celebration every day... and the harvest had yet to fully start!!
Over the years, those families left farming... including my own.
    Things change.
I sincerely miss those days. Best childhood I could ever think of having.
Thank you for sharing your farming life with us Zach. Much appreciated every year.

The sad thing is, as the older generations "retired", the younger generations stopped helping each other in this form. I know many farmers in my area but, none help each other. Growing up, I to remember the days when farmers DID exactly that, help each other. Rather is was grain crop, hay crop, even with livestock, it didn't matter. Farmers did help each other. Just shows you how times have changed and not for the better.

Jason sure was grinnin wide after the Razor ride. I thought he was going to tear his face. Made me envious. These machines are getting so complicated it is overwhelming. IF they are all adjusted and working well, they are fantastic. BUTT, there is so much that can go wrong and make them high priced rocks!! Hope they all work well for you.

Mike Michell had 6 of those Honey Bees 50’ headers good headers but built very light duty. He was always breaking that little aluminum sensor rod on the bottom. Flex very well with ground but long term not sure how long they’ll last.

6:58 Don't change the rethresher setting for corn or beans, always leave in corn or "large grain". The lower setting is small grains only and can cause it to plug up.

Pretty much the hole entire Fire DP. showed up. Even the tanker truck came, and we thought it wouldn't make it up the hill the combine was on. But ya it was a crazy night. Also we had corn to do.

Zach, you and your dad always make me laugh, because you are much more talkative, and he doesn't say a lot. Your dad speaks with his eye's, and facial expressions, mostly. I always think of the video where you talked about how it's part of being Scandinavian, apologize if i got the ancestry wrong, and that you take the subtle hint. Your affect changes around your dad as well, like you're telepathically talking with him as well, i love it. My dad died when i was only 23, and I'm 51, you are lucky to have him around, maybe someday you could tell a few stories. I liked the video when you were talking about your family history, because he talked a lot more. I just know you have some good stories from growing up. Nice rig to go bean combining in, that thing looked huge. G-d bless your family, and furry critters.

Thanks for an interesting and enjoyable video. Great video Zach.
Thanks for letting us see all the items to be done to get the honey bee header ready to go. Takes a bit to get it set and ready to work in the field. Lots of technology involved in the header. Like the trailer setup. No big trailer to move around. Neat.

We have had a 245 honeybee for a few years now, id recommend, just getting a 45ft header trailer, the self transport is a hassle if you have to hook and unhook a lot. Especially trying to line up the under carriage in soft soil by yourself.

It never ceases to amaze me how most people think farming consists of throwing some seed in the ground and do nothing for a few months then harvest and do nothing until the next spring and you just get to lay around most of the time.

Zach.... This thing almost needs a check list like a pilot uses for an aircraft. Just to make sure you don't forget something and damage the header or the combine.
