  • In this video we are going to image transfer to many different surfaces like wood, metal, glass, mirror, paper, fabric and ceramic coffee cup. And we are going to use a blender pen to do it. At the end of this video I show you how to refill your pen and what else you can use to substitute the pen if you don’t have it.

Hi Nitsa, I've been working on a project for my stepdad for MONTHS. I do not have a circuit and really don't want to purchase one. I'm doing a 3d picture of his flag and multilayer with another background. Anyway I have a beautiful poem I've been wanting to put on the glass and I've been trying out so many methods that I almost gave that idea up until I found your video today. So, I will be going to the store today to get the supplies! I will update you and keeping my fingers crossed!

Would I be able to create a drawing with either a pencil or ink pen and then transfer it to sheet metal with a blender pen? Or does it have to be from a lazer printer? Also, will any printer work if I can't use a pen or pencil drawing? Thank you, I really love what you do!!!

Love this technique. Looks really easy to do. I tried the packing tape technique on a glass vase. I did not love it. I am looking for a photo transfer technique to use on glass mason jars for a wedding. I will transfer a color photo. My question is will the blender pen technique work easily on mason jars, and will the images be permanent? The bride wants to repurpose the mason jars as drinking glasses following the wedding. Thank you.

Hi, Nitsa. While it works, it is important to share how toxic those markers are. It's why they've fallen out if favor. I would treat them like an airbrushing chemical and wear a respirator or work outside with a good cross ventilation. The MSDS includes:
    Skin Corrosion - Category 1B
    Reproductive Toxiity - Category 2
Hazardous to the Aquatic Environment - Acute - Category 1
Hazardous to the Aquatic Environment - Chronic - Category 1
    Skin Irritation - Category 2
    Flammable Liquid 3
    Eye Irritation - Category 2

I wanted to ask which chemicle worked best ? I use acetone to clean my paint brushes and have it on hand. Although we should warn people not to use it on synthetic material .
      * I did my nails in a rush and further messed them up dressing for a party. while wearing a pretty dress made of acetate I attempted to fix my nails and well that was an extremely bad idea...the acetone spilled on my lap and it smoldered and burnt a hole the size of the huge spill...I never forgot that I was so upset haha to be 15 with the biggest worry was being late for a party. 🙄Any way knowledge doesn't become wisdom till we give it away. Acetone is not safe on synthetic material. Use 100%cotton.

@@NitsaCreativeStudio essential oils aren't 100% eco friendly, the amount of raw plant materials it takes to make the oil is pretty high so all of the water and energy it took to grow the plant is a byproduct of using the oils. Not trying to be a nay sayer. For children ingesting certain essential oils is more poisonous than ingesting acetone.

Yes, you can transfer from color but the images do tend to be a little faint. As far as transferring to fabric I didn't have much luck with anything else but cotton, but maybe there are ways to prepare the surface for other type of fabrics, I'm not sure.

Hi Nitsa, thanks for the tutorial. I intend to use it for my artwork (transfer to glass) and then paint on the top, I will know the result when I do but still if you know as I am wondering about the durability of the transfer. Does it fade with time (indoors).

    • @NitsaCreativeStudio

Sounds great! So far none of my artwork which is displayed indoors has faded. If you use paint you probably should seal it with a suitable clear finish.

You can seal it of course, it's always a good idea, but I find that it doesn't just wash off with water. In fact, it's hard to scrub it off and you probably need acetone to remove it.

No, it doesn't really bleed if you make sure to use just a little of the transfer medium. Honestly I'm not sure about the washes as I use my fabrics for making zipper bags (thats all I know how to saw 😅 ) but if I washed it I would probably hand wash it just in case.

Empty markers were suggested in the video but since they are plastic would the xylene or acetone eat through them. I know that there are fabrics you cannot use acetone on. I spilled a little on knit fabric pants and it melted a hole through them. Is Xylene less likely to melt a fabric?

Same question about the coffee cup ... does it wash off?

    • @NitsaCreativeStudio
      @NitsaCreativeStudio  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

The transfer doesn't wash off the mug (let it completely set for 24 hours) but its always a good idea to protect with some moisture resistant stuff that is suitable for dishes.
The ceramic cup needs to be sealed with an appropriate sealer like a clear acrylic spray (I like Crystal Clear) or something like Mod Podge dish washer safe sealer.
Also it's not food safe so it's a good idea to transfer and apply sealer to areas that don't come in contact with food or drink.

The ceramic needs to be sealed with an appropriate sealer like a clear acrylic spray (I like Crystal Clear) or something like Mod Podge dish washer safe sealer.

You might want to apply a clear glaze over it on porcelain, but she used ceramic and glass in the tutorial. Before washing the ceramic cup I would heat it in the oven, glaze it, and heat it again, before trying to wash it. See my tips given on increasing image permanence and washing for fabric transfers in prior replies.
