    Love to see how far you have come as a film maker over the years Ronny. These older ones are still good but you can still notice the difference to the new stuff you put out.

    As an American I am extremely jealous of the the Toyotas Yall have down there. Especially the 79 series Land Cruisers with factory diesels. Good vid.

    Epic video again boys, i tackled the holland in my old 13 cruiser ute in winter of 2014 and its was over bonnet mud/water most of the first section from hyden in and i lost alternator also. I removed it and rebuilt it on the first night.. Worked a treat

    Awesome video once again, those aerial shots are spectacular. Did both these tracks earlier in the year with a few mates over 3 days, we had an absolute blast (Lucky for us we had no dramas with our rigs whatsoever). Seeing cave hill was definitely the highlight for me - amazing views from up there

    I can really tell the improvements in the drone photography and of the overall positioning and angles of the production. The movement and shots now show a great deal of diversity and made the videos that much better. Wish i could join you guys from the usa but anyway awesome improvements and keep up the great work.

    I really enjoyed seeing the old hilux. My truck is pretty similar (just older, and a 4runner) so it was fun to see what a similar drivetrain and suspension set up could accomplish.

    So it seems this epic trip of yours has inspired me to carry a spare alternator and starter motor in my 89' Hilux, since I have the Ecotec in it I should not encounter as much of an issue with flooding the alternator, but for $100 bucks a spare one is easily a good investment and being an auto I definitely need the spare starter.

    • @ICEGTN
      @ICEGTN 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Nathan Barford
      The alternator and starter will die sooner or later. They usually die while driving, so if you don't carry a spare one, it's guaranteed that you will get stuck and will need to call for help, sooner or later.

    Ronny, A little trick with Chrysler/Mppar starters is you can knock on them with a hammer lightly and the solenoid might kick out and start the vehicle. Done it many times at the drag strip.

    You could compression start older automatics... (like a manual). Simply get the car rolling in neutral with the key in the on position, then drop it into drive. Though I suppose newer trucks may not be able to do this... glad the towing worked!

    Hi Guys I have had a sealed water cooled alternator fitted to my 70 series troopy so won't be suffering the same alternator problems you had on the Holland Track". It was $2400 but well worth it in my view!!!

    • @Ronny_Dahl
      @Ronny_Dahl  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Michael FitzGerald Since the Holland track I put a water cooled one in as well and so far so good. Worth the money too as it makes the 70 series 100% reliable for the most part.

    Hi Ronny, i know this was a while ago but i do believe that with some automatics if you put them in drive and leave ignition on when you get to around 40km/h rotation from drive line via sprag clutches in the auto/box, will spin fluid through torque converter and turn engine....not sure if this works for all autos but the old borgWarners used to work and the Zf6hp's. Maybe something to enquire into with your mechanic? Save towing if it ever happens again....maybe...👍

  • @Geoscot
    @Geoscot 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi, another excellent video. One question, I know you weren't really remote on your trip and you rescued the jeep but why take unnecessary risks driving through mud holes? You could do this nearer Perth, ok it's not summer and you had a big team on hand. When I travel in the bush the last thing I want is an avoidable problem. I expect the answer is its fun.

    • @Ronny_Dahl
      @Ronny_Dahl  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very good point Geoscot, we actually avoided most of the bog holes and the ones we did do we're not very deep and depth was checked, the ones we did do were for the video and yes for a bit of fun as the track is the same the entire way.
      You would have seen after the first few problems I was avoiding the mud holes to avoid unnecessary risk. If we were only a few vehicles I would not go into any of the deep ones unless there was no other way.
      Thanks for the feedback and comments

    I'm going to Shark Bay and surrounds for Xmas, and said to the better half I need to do the Holland Track when we gat back. It has to be on WA's most iconic Tracks.
    This has done nothing but inspire me to head out that way. Great editing, and especially love the Drone Footage (what is it ??) I will take my AEE AP10 along and do something similar.
    Would be good if you posted your track in .GPX/KML as it would be a great guide for others. Just a thought as I know some people are interested in that stuff. I just notice the HEMA is all.
    Keep up the great 4x4 videos mate.
