It is a blessing to to hear and see my favorite jazz band performing on this video. I've been a fan of Spyro Gyra since I was 11 years old. At age 42, I still listen to them and deeply enjoy all their music from 1978 to present. Thank you for posting this video.
I learned about these guys when I was 20- I'll be 60 next year. Loved their music all this time, will never get tired of it! Simply the best jazz fusion around.
Hey.. I will never forget the time I saw these guys in kcmo and we sat next to these cool cats that passed their funny cigarettes to us.. the mother of my children could barely walk after that but I did buy almost of the bands albums and their music books.... I still play a few of their tunes
Hi Jay Beckenstein and Spyro's. I'm studying and listening to Spyro Gyra from 1.979. Album Mornig Dance and Catching the Sun. Spyro Gyra is part of my life! Greetings from Brazil.
These are the days when musicianship and stage performances where everything. I wish we could get back to that style. Singers actually sang and musicians actually played various instruments!
Saw them at Club Bene in NJ in 1985, got to meet the band backstage afterward! Saw them again in Northampton MA in 1997. Love these guys! And Jay Beckenstein can certainly give Kenny G a run for his money...
Man this brings back memories form the 80's as I was a huge fan of Jazz Flavors in my early twenties. Russ Davis really introduced the city mass population to the cool jazz industry with its fabulous musicians from around the country and globe. It was a sad day for me and many others in late 1988 when Russ left for NY. Jazz for the most part died in the Atlanta radio station with his departure. We need another cool cat like Russ to bring it back!
I´m a fan of SPYRO GYRA since the very first one, including a wonderful song " CASCADE " underrated and never heard live It´s a MUST to hear it LIVE On the other hand, please tell me year of this Video Concert ???' Of course during the 90¨s ???'
man.. Julio does a mean, soulful, solo at the end. Kind of Santana like, but I don't want to compare those 2 together, but Julio is an integral part to Spyro gyra 👍. I just never understood the lineup changes over the years. why all the switching up between drummers and bass players?🤔
Remember when BET had quality programming, and not the BULLSHIT they broadcast nowadays? Too bad the places where one can see such great musicianship are becoming fewer with each passing day.
I'm 15 years old and i just CAN'T STOP LISTENING (and playing) this kind of music... It just amazes me!

Spyro gyra show de bola! Manda muito.
Más de 30 años escuchando a Spyro Gyra. Pueden cambiar algunos músicos, pero el estilo se mantiene intacto. Gracias por tanto. Betto
Love this song. The drummer plays this so well! These musicians make it look so easy. Awesome!!!

The drummer is Joel Rosenblat in a young and fresh version, I recall the late ´80s when he played with Michel Camilo, very great drumming.

Great performance, but the interruptions from the "host" are pretty annoying. Interesting to hear what Jay had to say, though.
