A lot of furries don't know what goes wrong at a con while they're at it until after the fact. Most of the incidents at Anthrocon, the issues with Pittsburgh police last year, the masked guy at the BIPOC meet the year before that, I had no idea about until I got home. Doesn't mean we shouldn't take them seriously, but everything has to be put in perspective.
Holy shit I was there at 2022 with the Pittsburgh police and that was NUTS. We didn’t even really know how fucked it was until we got to our hotel room, they treated it like a riot.
There really should not have been a bipoc meet. Really, there is no need for a safe space based on race, or a place to escape the "white gaze". Bipoc also is a term made explicitly to target and exclude asians. People should all be together as one community, furries. Segregation is an atrocity. I will die on this hill.
I actually met that masked dude at the veteran panel at FWA. From the way he tells it he didn't seem to have any malicious intent, that's just the outfit he wears to fur cons and he didn't realize it would be an issue until after the fact. Dunno, never heard of him before that panel.
i live just down the road from the con and had no idea about the furry fandom when the con happened, all i remember was the amount of ambulances. weirdly enough years later im a furry now. funny how that happens lol
My husband and I went to this for our honeymoon. Picture, for a moment, you're standing in line to pick up your badge, which goes far down a dim hallway, which really looked out of place in the otherwise fairly nice hotel. Oddly, there's the faint smell of kitty litter. As the line advances extremely slowly, the smell gets stronger. As you get closer to badge pickup, it's definitely not clean kitty litter. About 100ft from the badge pickup, you can taste it. You're sure it's your imagination, but you can feel grit in the back of your throat. The stench is nauseating. You look around at the other people in line. 80% of them are standing there doing something on their phones. The other 20% are looking around incredulously, as if they were the only one that smelled it. You avoid eye contact because if you locked eyes with the person, then both of you would have to accept that this is really, actually happening. So that's how the weekend started. There were a handful of staff clearly trying to carve out a tiny sphere of order in a sea of chaos, but one of the weirdest things was how many people were wearing staff shirts, but were not doing staff things. At one point, we saw someone probably more drunk than I've ever been in my life, fall over and slump against the wall. The staff members stopped, looked at him, then carried on their conversation and walked on. As we were walking the same direction, we definitely saw that they were clearly attending the con, not staffing it. Over the next two days, we saw some wild shit. 3 managers staring into a hot tub as though there was a body in it, gesturing wildly at each other. A ring of water extending 8ft from a room blasting loud techno. We saw two raids by police, one as they ran to a room while they talked on their radio asking how far out the paramedics were, and another in progress with the door propped open and at least 6 people sitting on the one bed as 4 cops searched the room. Honestly, I think the main problem was that nobody was de-escalating. Nobody was throwing people out who acted the fool. There's always a small element at conventions that are acting out some weird character fantasy, never in suit, but there just wasn't anyone stopping it. I'm very glad this wasn't my first convention, as I'm really only in this community to support my husband. Had this been my first con, I never would have gone to another. It had all the normal stuff, artists selling their stuff, fursuiters walking around, and I remember a kind of great panel where they'd have fursuiters model for figure drawing. But at other cons, those are the focus. They really weren't at RF. I've never seen so many obviously hammered people, or people absolutely out of their minds high on something definitely stronger than weed. We checked out of the hotel early, left a huge tip for the housekeepers, and a note apologizing for being awful guests. Those poor ladies didn't deserve the treatment they were getting. We spent the rest of the honeymoon in downtown Seattle, and it was lovely. The con being... well, memorable. I think we saw you there, actually. I remember a boar suiter in partial with these awesome leather suspenders walking around with their partner. If it was you, you guys were adorable, I hope you're well and happy. The press did seem hyperbolic, but in all honesty, you could have told an equally shocking story based on things that actually did happen, like the kitty litter thing. We never found out what that was about. Sometimes I worry that the fandom is too accepting of some pretty wild public behavior. I'll admit to having had thoughts about groups like Dorsai at Anthrocon, but I owe them an apology. Seeing how far things go without anyone keeping people in line, they're really doing a hell of a job.
I don’t know what’s going on in the furry fandom currently, but it’s wild 😭 I wish the people who are actually doing.. questionable stuff in the furry fandom never became a furry, as a furry myself I am losing hope that the furry fandom will not have any of this stuff happen again and less of it, I feel like it will always happen now- it just sucks y’know.
The more sides of a story you hear, the more info you gather, the better the understanding you will have. We need more content like this that discusses these things from people who know what actually happened when it comes to these types of things.
That is why I am glad I saw more videos about Dash Con I felt kinda bad for the girl who planned it as she genuinely wanted it to be good. Problem was the scope and the people she found that promised to help her were scumbags
Thanks a ton for making such a respectable video about that. I worked that con for 7 years and when everything fell apart, it hurt to see so many people so quickly jump to ripping it apart. And still to this day when it comes up it is almost always in the derogatory, but awesome work like this will help truly clear the air and maybe will allow more people to remember the great times they had.
It really does suck that despite all the issues that the hotel called out in the letter to the con chair, none of them listing anything involving diapers, there was definitely a period of wrongful ire being directed at babyfurs for "being the reason Rainfurrest was cancelled" when that couldn't be any further from the truth. It was mostly likely due to, as Adum put it, a small amount of toxic people with criminal records who should not have been at the convention.
I keep wondering how many facts you lived and have material and history to tell for us, as an foreigner i'm very excited an interested to hear all about and learn more about our fur bros n sis around the world! Keep the awesome work Spam!
The pool incident mentioned at 3:30, I happened to be throwing an otter party that had just moved to the pool and I never got to get in the water because it happened right at that moment. The guy he was clawing at was my partner at the time. Was a bummer way to end an otherwise great night lol
I'm a greymuzzle but never got to attend the rainfurrests. However many years back I heard what had happened to that babyfur/diaperfur and I felt so bad for that guy. He didn't deserve to be a scapegoat figurehead online and I just hope he is doing ok nowadays. Thank you for making this video!
im a babyfur too and ad my local furry group in montreal it got "foundout" and it got really bad even tough i just existed , i think its just a thing furries do to each other , some furres are assholes
@@anonimoanonimo5273 you know that actually a trap right ? it goes from "keep that stuff in the bedroom" to you trying as fucking hard as possible to hide it to "i know what you do in private and i want to beat you up for it" ,its all bullshit
@@anonimoanonimo5273 if you didn't see that part of the video or know about that specific situation the person was in a themed panel but staff (I think of the hotel?) Needed the room temporarily and the congoers, including the gear wearers, didn't have time to change since it was just a few minutes of having to stand outside the panel room. I do not think there was actually any wanting to display that way by the person as the panel room was supposed to be a protected space for the meet and greet. I hope this clears this up, because nobody was doing... bedroom stuff as you inferred.
2015 was easily my favorite year. I was one of the photographers at the photo booth. I remember hearing rumors during the con of the glory hole, but all in all, it was a normal con for me. In 2016 my roommates and I hosted a house party in place of Rainfurrest, and called it the RAHTY Party(RainFurrest Ain't Happening This Year), where we packed our place with 130 furs. Was an absolute blast that didn't end in any glory holes or towel stuffed hot tubs.
I contacted the new Seattle fur cons just as they were starting up, and the promises they made to the hotel also involved a lot of security. One con quoted their highest expense was security.
A few weeks ago I was curious on what Rainfurrest was *actually* like so I watched some old recordings of panels and people hanging out. It just seemed like a regular, wholesome convention with an unfortunate loud minority smearing the conventions name. To the point it became one of those ‘furry bad’ memes for youtubers to capitalise on, “ooo look at how bad these furries are look at all this depraved shit they did” , often hyperbolic of everything that truly happened, acting as if the loud minority was the majority of the congoers. Thats not to say Rainfurrest was perfect, it sounds far from it, but honestly, what convention is? Rainfurrest was deeply misrepresented by the media I really appreciate this video, its so important to get multiple perspectives, and to hear from the people who actually attended is incredible
I'm glad this is here to help provide some much needed perspective on this event, I was not a proper member of the furry fandom as of yet so I didn't know much about it other than rumors and second hand info (sadly from individuals like IH). Ty for this.
Wow, I remember watching that video years and years ago. It made me skeptical about wanting to be associated with the furry fandom. I'm glad that now, after some time and meeting multiple furries, irl and online that I'm glad that it wasn't the case. You all are wonderful people who just want to enjoy life as much as I do, and I'm so happy to finally accept that. I can't wait to go to my first con. It's been a long time coming.
@@lastswordfighter That word has a very questionable history seeped in eugenics and fascism. It's like classic to other people with it. Look up the history of degenerate art. I guess flinging that word at an queer art community does track if that is your intention to dog whistle that hard kid.
I've been going to furry conventions since 2019 , I've seen some bad things (yes lots of drugs and alcohol) but never at the level that was reported with rainfurrest. I always kind of gathered it was a lot of sensationalism and over exaggeration for certain parts. I even met a few people who went to that con who agreed it was bad and poorly managed but were quick to dismiss things that the internet blew out of proportion. I'm really happy that more people from the fandom are coming out about the reality of this. its just mind boggling what people outside the fandom will do to make content without any research that devalues the real experiences that happened. There's a lot of things that go on behind the scenes at cons that sometimes even the fandom doesn't see, and is only discovered later on and can be easily spread. But I don't think misinformation like that should discourage anyone from going to conventions as many are more safer and better handled than rainfurrest was.
I've been to furcons a plenty. Rainfurrest six times, BLFC twice, Megaplex twice. It's not a furcon if an ambulance doesn't roll up to drive someone ODing to the hospital. Sure it's the minority, but that party hardy mentality is a part of the con experience for a fair bit of the fandom.
Should also be said the fellow who was there every time, and managed to "document" all these things also ended up as a con chair themselves the very next year for a "competing" convention. It was also this same guy who was supposed to have been watching the dude who ran into the pool while he was on shrooms given to them by the same person. I was friends with the fellow who ran into the pool, so was given first han accounts when they had come down from the mushrooms. I had been a staff member for a few years and 2015 was the one year i took off from working the con to enjoy it with my bf at the time. So I was there and was able to be present for some staff stuff as the people i rode up with were still staff for that year and i ended up volunteering to help when it got out of hand. Rf always had a drug problem and staff did work hard to try and stop it but the dealer must have had a radio or something because whenever we made a radio call the person would dissapear in moments. But your 100% right A small group effectively ran the con into the ground on purpose. Though im pretty positive it was done to make their con the new top con for the PNW.
I did the same thing last week, how tf are you able to move it at all in that state?? Absolute agony but my pain tolerance is very very low. They did just straighten it out, put it in a splint and send me away though at the hospital Oof that shot of Arun’s knee.. yeah ain’t fun
My knees click, shift, then pop as they go out of place... Extremely painful. And it's very normal for me though cause it's been like that for me since I was 15-16 years old and I'm 25 years old now.
I so remember the RF2015 hotel con staff kicking us out of the main con building on the last night, so rude. Never knew of any of all the drama that shut the cone down, until latter... 😢
People say furry hate's gotten better, but honestly, I don't see it. I still get harassed and see furries treated like lessers. Btw, random question, but do you have an opinion on LagoVert?
I've been saying this for years because I still encounter people who won't go to Rainfurrest events due to the reputation. But I've had nothing but the best time at RF events! ✨ It's a shame that people are so quick to believe anything negative they hear without even stopping to think about it, or askin people who were actually there. Thank you for making this video!
That's where you're wrong. The Failure of Rainfurrest is accurate and is gospel. Any pro furry argument you make is a logical fallacy and is invalid by default. Furries are degenerates.
Its interesting that this happened right across the way from my airport of SEATAC! Also I know what knee dislocation feels like because its happened to me twice
I believe that the person causing a lot of the drama was someone who wanted the convention cancelled because they didn't make the staff that year, or had beef with someone who was. I think someone was sabotaging the convention from the get go with the intention of getting it shut down, rather than just several unrelated shenanigans.
I was there every year. Xzygy has it: nobody was de-escalating. It was run by a guy who'd run cons for decades, staff (all volunteers) were averse to confrontation because they feared upsetting people, and they could always go to the head guy for answers in tricky situations. Then he retired and nobody really had any idea how to handle anything, because they'd always gone tio him nd had him tell them what to do on a case-by-case basis, and I don't think he ever tried to make them learn (I knew him, and he thought extremely highly of himself). He went from, "no, just talk to papa and I'll instruct you" to (literally) "I'm sick of running cons, I'll still advise but I charge by the hour for it." I suspect other attempts to run a furry con in Seattle will go better first and foremost because he's not running things. But RainFurrest's lax security staff alsio attracted an increasing number of trolls, shit-stirrers, and just people who like to get a bit too rowdy. I personally know of only two bans RF threw down, both on people who did deserve it.
This is such an interesting video! I never got to go to Rainfurrest, but a friend of mine did and said it was one of his favorite conventions that he ever went to. If anything, this video is a great reminder not to believe everything that people say on twitter. People really can say and do anything, there's no screening to make sure if it's true or just made up for attention.
Nothing of the claims in the youtube videos mentioned really got disproven at all? Most of them actually basically got proven. Their only defense was the hole stuff which in the OP video is basically stated to be "allegedly" keyword: "allegedly"
This reminds me of furidaho 2013. There were only 2 cons in idaho 2012-2013 and they were my first cons. The reason they don’t do it anymore was because of one furry that was arrested at home for doing things with his pet. Idaho didn’t want anything to do with it once it hit the news so they canceled furidaho
reading the letter 3:58 i count two items i would consider vandalism. one intentional, unsafe but probably minor, the other probably accidental, but significantly more visible. 'not talked about'?
Imagine taken the Internet Historian seriously when he frames every video like a sh*tpost. Also plagiarism doesn't mean the information isn't correct, they just didn't write it.
@@DiThi Incorrect. Plagiarism means you can't trust the authorship of the material, however the plagiarised material may still be accurate. For example if you plagiarise a well researched, factual paper, it's still accurate material. And in this case we have a "he said, she said" situation. As these guys say themselves, even the attendees got the information wrong. Guy had his knee pop and had to be taken away by ambulance. Attendees thought he had been stabbed. Therefore their testamony isn't much more accurate than Internet Historian's. Not that anyone should be taking Internet Historian seriously as a factual information source in the first place as his stuff is overtly a light hearted sh*tpost. No-one watched the Rainfurrest video for factual information. They watched it for entertainment.
@@PlebNC And yet I know people that seriously believed it. While it's true that plagiarized material can be accurate, what you can't trust is that they will always choose trustworthy sources. Because trustworthiness is not what they select for. This also makes the lack of verification a big concern. If he wasn't caught for so long, it also means he could get away with other shit besides the plagiarism.
@@DiThi Mate, if you're using TH-cam as a trustworthy source, you're already setting yourself up for failure. That's like asking for advice on killing Covid 19 from Donald Trump. And critique of trustworthy sources applies to any information source, making it irrelevant for discussion of specifically plagiarised work because it also applies to the original work plagiarised. Plus again, Internet Historian makes sh*tposts. He's not a documentarian. He takes pre-existing information and makes a funny video out of it. To apply editorial standards to him is like criticising a birthday party clown's humour like he's a stand-up comedian. Did it suck 1 video was plagiarised? Yes. Does it matter in the grand scheme? Not really. The original author wasn't going to make millions of the video if he was credited. Does it raise questions about his other videos? Yes but until proof comes to light it means nothing and the only proof these guys have is "I didn't see it so it didn't happen", which is flawed logic even before taking that evidence in account as they couldn't be everywhere all at once so while their perspective is better, it's far from solid.
When I saw that quote on quote the real rainforest video. I felt something was werid Aslo what about antho north west? The criminals weren’t there and thats a Seattle con. Aslo BIG FAN!!
Theres the obvious lies yeah, but theres a lot of stories that have no evidence of falsehood or truth either that we kind of have to assume to understand
one thing I would love to see is for youtubers to stop using every cringe moment in our fandom for brownie points on the site like... we all know about Rainfurrest and all the degenerate stuff that happens with the "afterdark crew" but those are adults and the more we bring these things up for clout the more the world won't let us forget it and the harder it becomes to just get by.... They're already trying to straight up ban our subculture in Oklahoma -Canadian
I know that it wasn't furries that caused all the damage and degenerate stuff in the halls and I know it was criminals, addicts and anti-furs/out of touch boomers BUT this is the 150th video I've seen on Rainfurrest and other individuals that the fandom has denounced and it's all been done before and doesn't paint a great image...
It's very easy to spread misinformation, especially when it is such a gross diaper-smearing lie in every sense. These videos get strong engagement and probably show up in search results for these events. The IH rainfurrest video is accurate in that this is how the rest of the internet documented and viewed the con, and honestly the fandom, at that point in time: that's how it went down in 'internet history'. IH's video is uninformed and misleading, but still pretty entertaining. If he cared he would make an addendum or something, maybe he still doesn't know. Maybe it was *cough cough* plagiarized *cough*. If I had a point, it's that there was no room for nuance with furries in 2004, not in a meaningful way, and a hilarious and over the top lie is pretty easy to remember. Also OK will never be OK, you should see the things they do like.
4:30 What? It’s pretty obvious in the IH video that he doesn’t believe the glory hole story, he is just addressing the fact that it’s a persistent rumour.
Hi, I was there. I witnessed some of the absolute horror it was. I tried to warn them at their complaint panel at the end of con. They said " if it gets us attention, we don't see a need to do anything to change it." I was dumbstruck. I was the person who stood on the table to clear the main hall for the paramedics so they could reach the kid ODing on shrooms who'd tried to drown himself in the pool. After I had managed to direct traffic to clear the room. I was holding the door to redirect traffic till the paramedics had finished. I overheard people saying " oh this is a major incident, this means ppl are going to recognize rainfurrest as a major con now." I immediately asked wtf they were talking about and it was explained that every major convention became considered that after the con had a serious major incident where someone got hurt or arrested. I had never heard this before, but a lot of ppl agreed so it seemed that is was a commonly known thing. So I replied and said " that is a terrible thing to aim as the reason for anything to be considered major. I wouldn't want this horrible thing to be what our convention becomes known for... that's going to give furries bad reputation. We struggle with this enough as it is. This convention is supposed to ne clean all around fun. " And everyone was just quiet after that some made sounds of agreement and seemed to pause in reflection. After this. I heard this same rumor several times throughout the rest of the entire con. I would stop and tell whoever I heard saying this the same thing. At one point none of them said I had a good point and i should bring it up at the hiss and scratch at the end of the convention. I didn't even know they had a complaints panel, but I literally stayed for the rest of the entire convention (which had been an absolute fking literal shit filled nightmare) just to go to this fking panel and bring up my concerns about everything that I had heard and personally witnessed myself. Which was a lot. There were a lot of fked up things a lot of the con attendees aren't aware of that actually happened. Or heard inaccurate rumors of the incident. I know the truth however cus I actually saw what happened or talked directly to the person that had been a part of the incident and got the story directly. I was very passionate about rainfurrest, it had been my favorite convention. I used to do Anime cons, but after I went to RF the first time, I stopped all other cons entirely. I had some of the best times of my life at this con. I felt the most at home with the furry community. I felt like I genuinely could just openly be myself, and rainfurrest was my local furry convention. I re-shaped my entire artistic direction and career off furries becuase of this con. So ofc I was highly sensitive to anything that was going to put a stain on it. However after I got that responce from having brought these things to their attention and that I had feared the conventions reputation with the Hilton, and feared that we might not be able to keep the con here if these things kept happening.. And their responce was to shrug and go "so?" The arrogance and entitlement of the con hosts was quite honestly appalling. After that I heard the convention was shut down and it was so bad that someone had written a letter to ever venue in the state to warn them and there was literally no place that would take them. Athat sucked for the furry attendees in WA, but served those con hosts right. I told them... I fkin told them...Their ignorance destroyed my favorite con. Shame these were the reasons rainfurrest beame a major con... a major example of a majorly bad con. I hate to say I told you so, cus it's never anything good. And thats why I hate when I'm right, cus Unfortunately I have always been right... I never heard if that kid that had been taken by the paramedics though. I hope he was okay. Edit: The thing about the towels in the hot tub is incorrect, the reality is worse. First someone shit in the hot tub the day prior having it closed for the day while they did an entire water change. The next day when they reopened the hot tub, I assume the same person who had shit in it shit in an adult diaper and then shoved it into the hot tub filter, which clogged jammed and broke the motor. Having the hot tub permanently out of service for the rest of the convention. Some of the vandalism had to do with some rooms that literally had shit smeared all over the walls like a Jackson Pollock painting. I wish I was joking however I saw it myself. There were some rooms that were open to the halls like an open room party, but instead you got hit with that horrid human fecal matter smell and discover.... yeah... it was not pretty. And I heard from several others it wasn't the only room that had this happen. The elevator had been broken far worse than mention in that statement. Ppl had broke buttons on the control panel and a large group had decided to jump on the elevator as it was ascending. Causing a lot of wear on the mechanism that pulled the elevator up. Which ultimately caused the elevator to take a really long time. And being the only elevator to the main area of the convention center and suiters unable to take stairs. It was a long wait to get to the main part of the convention center. Eventually they had to limit the amount on the elevator to about 3 ppl each trip and had a staff member on duty riding the elevator to work the elevator and monitor the activity. Before that happened though, a few baby furs had decided to all togeather wait for the elevator to fill up and doors to close before all taking a crap in their diapers. And with the elevator taking like 10-15 mins a trip.. you can imagine what this was like for the other attendees who were trapped in there with them. I know this happened because I saw someone come off the elevator crying and found out what happened first hand, as I had been waiting for someone else to make it upstairs.
@Dawn_the_fox ya, it was a literal shit show I'll never forget cus I have a biographical memory. IT'S BURNED INTO MY BRAIN TILL I DIE. Thanks rainfurrest, rest in pieces.
I was already "old lol" around the time RF started, and was Going Through Some Stuff. I made the choice to kinda withdraw from furry fandom in general (though not from my close friends who are all furs)... and seeing this I feel kinda vindicated that this was the right choice for me. I don't think I would have been able to make good decisions in situations like these. That's *me* BTW - I'm not casting any aspersions upon the folks who were involved with RF. So while I truly miss being more involved in the fandom, and (here's when I show you how efiing old I am) often really lament the decline of FurryMUCK, which often really felt like *the whole fandom was there* (though of course that was never true) - I'm really thankful to have taken the break that I did. And I'm even more thankful that the folks who kept the fandom alive during those years when it was fashionable to bully us are telling our stories. Thanks for all of this.
Similarly, I was at MCFC 2022 and that convention got a bad rap for what went down. I was completely oblivious. So you make a point that some things at a con either never happened or were blown way out of proportion. Moral of the story: don't trust everything you read on the internet
I heard that it was a housekeeper that was making up things or making things bigger than they were. They were let go before the following year and nothing got brought up. Though, the puke was a thing that happened since I had people around me report it. The diapers... Didn't see anything.
I knew multiple people who went that year. Multiple people who didn't have passes. I used to hang out with some of the locals, and if I am being honest... I had bad feelings about it. I went to several parties before hand and ... well... there was a lot of bad things going on at the parties too. I hate to say it, but yes, the con had a huge problem with people going too far. And it did not shock me.
i get what your saying...but then you show an image of "the cub club" at rainfurrest, and i cant help but feel it somewhat undermines the message your trying to convey also the fact you say " its a small vocal minority" is kinda a go to for bad fandom behaviour to which i respond by saying "possibly, but they are the ones that seem to be in charge and are speaking FOR you, you cant blame us if you do little about them and that all we see of the furry fandom"
im a furry myself but i hate this community and cons because of my personal grudge against alkohol and other drugs, what infuriates me is that if there is a big group of furries either on vrchat or expecially on the cons there is ALWAYS narcotics, ALWAYS, and what is even more disturbing is that furries are just ok with it, even if cons are taking place in countries who strictly prohibite drinking in public spaces and taking any drugs is a serius crime, call me a nark or anything else but doing drugs is not the kind of "fun" i signed up when going to a con, i paid for dances, merch and friendly sober people, not stoned idiots
@rat_in_a_bucket technically, a furry convention is not a “public space”, it’s a ticketed, private event that’s held indoors. Every convention is going to have a unique environment, set of rules, and opinion on the consumption of alcohol/drugs. Judging every furry convention by the standards of one is misguided, obviously, an event like Anthrocon (an all-ages convention held in downtown Pittsburgh, which focuses heavily on the public’s involvement and participation), is going to differ significantly from an event like, say, BLFC (an adults-only convention held in a casino in Reno, Nevada).
I will say while you are very much entitled to your opinion, drugs are morally grey. Some people who act stupid on them sure, but those are the only ones you notice yknow. Im not saying let intoxicated idiots run aroundmbut idk i think its an overblown issue as someone whos been to 6 cons
A friend of mine was there and he even said that so many things were blown way out of context or just simply didn't happen. Glad we have ANW. #5 was my first ever con then I went to #6. Had a blast both times.
Did he mention that the then organizers released a letter to attendees, claiming that "For the last few years, the Hilton sustained more damage during RainFurrest than it did from every other event at the Hilton the entire rest of the year. Cause if the fucking organizers of rainforest can admit in writing the shit that went down, I'm going to having to question your friends awareness.
@@Fang_Face Get over yourself. None of that happened, idiot. We have full reports of what actually happened at the convention, stop spreading rumours and grow the hell up.
Some people just want to make shit up for clout. I remember one EF (26 i think?) one Staff had her service dog with them and there were people on Twitter Posting stuff like "Hopefully you keep that dog away from all of your attendees" Classy....
Say, i usually save your video to my youtube downloads so i can watch/listen at work. Do you still get "credit" for that? Wanna support a creator i like owo
I'll sadly admit that I used to unironically believe Internet Historian's video, but then like many others I started seriously questioning his credibility once he got exposed for plagiarizing large parts of the scripts for his "Man in Hole" and "Cost of Concordia" episodes so I actually can't say at all that I'm surprised that his video on RF was actually complete BS in hindsight. And yes, actually joining the furry fandom in the years since that video was uploaded and meeting many furries who have been to MANY cons, including RF, through Telegram, Discord and VRChat helped in making me realize IH's video was BS as well.
Hmm great video! I was like in middle school when this con happened and first heard of it in 2019 through these misinfo essays you mentioned. But I also remember hearing of the Twitter account too and now seeing Ash’s documentary really shines a good light on Rainfurest that I feel for
that letter pointed out clear vandalism. It doesn't need the word "vandalism" to make the point you broke stuff. SMoke detector and elevator cable were VANDALIZED
Agreed, it’s usually after the fact.
I work several cons and, even being on staff, I don't know half of what's going on unless I'm with security
I actually met that masked dude at the veteran panel at FWA. From the way he tells it he didn't seem to have any malicious intent, that's just the outfit he wears to fur cons and he didn't realize it would be an issue until after the fact.
Dunno, never heard of him before that panel.
Don't do drugs kids

You're a pretty cat

i live just down the road from the con and had no idea about the furry fandom when the con happened, all i remember was the amount of ambulances. weirdly enough years later im a furry now. funny how that happens lol

"Man down"
-Random soldier probably
Imagine raising a furry. Your parents are 🤡
My husband and I went to this for our honeymoon.
Seeing how far things go without anyone keeping people in line, they're really doing a hell of a job.
nice novella there :)
That must've been a wild ride.
I appreciate that
This video is propaganda. Furries are degenerates. Furries are depraved perverts.
That is why I am glad I saw more videos about Dash Con
I felt kinda bad for the girl who planned it as she genuinely wanted it to be good. Problem was the scope and the people she found that promised to help her were scumbags
Wrong. This video is furry propaganda and is lies.
I hope it helps to tell the truth. Thank you!

They lied in the video. The letter clearly points out incidences of vandalism. You should pause the video. remember vandalism means BREAKING THINGS
Degenerate.
Gosh, dude, they should keep that stuff for the bedroom only.
That’s awesome!
Rainfurrest was deeply misrepresented by the media
I really appreciate this video, its so important to get multiple perspectives, and to hear from the people who actually attended is incredible
Thank you for the awesome feedback!
It's the truth. Furries are degenerates. Furries are disgusting perverts.
I'm glad this is here to help provide some much needed perspective on this event, I was not a proper member of the furry fandom as of yet so I didn't know much about it other than rumors and second hand info (sadly from individuals like IH). Ty for this.
Thank you for the feedback and kind words!
As a person that was on staff at Confurence back in the day most all the rumors and stories people say are 95% bullshit.
No furries are degenerates. This video is propaganda.
@@lastswordfighter Ok kid
Sure it's the minority, but that party hardy mentality is a part of the con experience for a fair bit of the fandom.
it's incredible how we're still talking about this con 10 years later
Though im pretty positive it was done to make their con the new top con for the PNW.
i used to dislocate my knee once a week. it barely hurts now, its super easy to fix, just straighten out your leg as much as possible
Sounds awful
you... what???
comrade, that doesn't sound healthy
I did the same thing last week, how tf are you able to move it at all in that state?? Absolute agony but my pain tolerance is very very low.
They did just straighten it out, put it in a splint and send me away though at the hospital
Oof that shot of Arun’s knee.. yeah ain’t fun
Ima be honest, I thought Rainfurrest was only one year. I learned something today
I went to six of them before it got shut down. They tried to find another hotel but internal politics within the board sabotaged that
People say furry hate's gotten better, but honestly, I don't see it. I still get harassed and see furries treated like lessers.
Btw, random question, but do you have an opinion on LagoVert?
Furries are degenerates. You are lesser. You are equals because of it.
Rainfurrest...now that is a name I have not heard in a long time...
I joined the fandom some months before EF 2015 disaster happened
After 10 years I'm still here
I've been saying this for years because I still encounter people who won't go to Rainfurrest events due to the reputation.
But I've had nothing but the best time at RF events! ✨
It's a shame that people are so quick to believe anything negative they hear without even stopping to think about it, or askin people who were actually there.
Thank you for making this video!
Yeah seemed odd they didn’t talk to a person who attended in any of the other videos. Thanks for the kind words!

He went from, "no, just talk to papa and I'll instruct you" to (literally) "I'm sick of running cons, I'll still advise but I charge by the hour for it."
I suspect other attempts to run a furry con in Seattle will go better first and foremost because he's not running things. But RainFurrest's lax security staff alsio attracted an increasing number of trolls, shit-stirrers, and just people who like to get a bit too rowdy. I personally know of only two bans RF threw down, both on people who did deserve it.
I hate when people make things up for attention
Agreed
This video is propaganda lies. Furries are degenerates.
It's just plain disgraceful...

So based on these interviews it sounds like the expose videos only had minor inaccuracies and were over-all correct in their presentation.
Lol exactly and some of the arguments in this video are also just assumptions to push a specific narrative. 😬
*inhales deeply* aahhh yes. The infamous rainfurrest convention.

Fur some reason I am really looking foreward to this
I hope videos like this gain traction now that internet historian has been in the spotlight for plagiarism.
Imagine taken the Internet Historian seriously when he frames every video like a sh*tpost.
Also plagiarism doesn't mean the information isn't correct, they just didn't write it.
@@PlebNC doing plagiarism means you can't trust the source... in this case the actual source straight up made up shit.
Yes but until proof comes to light it means nothing and the only proof these guys have is "I didn't see it so it didn't happen", which is flawed logic even before taking that evidence in account as they couldn't be everywhere all at once so while their perspective is better, it's far from solid.

one thing I would love to see is for youtubers to stop using every cringe moment in our fandom for brownie points on the site like... we all know about Rainfurrest and all the degenerate stuff that happens with the "afterdark crew" but those are adults and the more we bring these things up for clout the more the world won't let us forget it and the harder it becomes to just get by....
Also OK will never be OK, you should see the things they do like.

internet "historian"s video did no good for furries and arguably set us back three years singlehandedly.
Yeah it was a lot of misinformation
It was the staffs fault if they where personally involved or not. Its their responsibility that all attendees follow the rules.
The furries are too blame because furries are degenerates.
Hi, I was there. I witnessed some of the absolute horror it was. I tried to warn them at their complaint panel at the end of con.
They said " if it gets us attention, we don't see a need to do anything to change it."
I was dumbstruck.
I was the person who stood on the table to clear the main hall for the paramedics so they could reach the kid ODing on shrooms who'd tried to drown himself in the pool.
After I had managed to direct traffic to clear the room. I was holding the door to redirect traffic till the paramedics had finished. I overheard people saying " oh this is a major incident, this means ppl are going to recognize rainfurrest as a major con now."
I immediately asked wtf they were talking about and it was explained that every major convention became considered that after the con had a serious major incident where someone got hurt or arrested.
And everyone was just quiet after that some made sounds of agreement and seemed to pause in reflection.
And their responce was to shrug and go "so?"
The arrogance and entitlement of the con hosts was quite honestly appalling.
Edit:
The thing about the towels in the hot tub is incorrect, the reality is worse.
Jesus Christ, that sucks. Sorry that had to happen to you and everyone else, man.
@Dawn_the_fox ya, it was a literal shit show I'll never forget cus I have a biographical memory. IT'S BURNED INTO MY BRAIN TILL I DIE.
Thanks rainfurrest, rest in pieces.
@@The_Jakkal Jesus Christ. I went to Rainfurrest 2014 and nothing happened to me, it was just a normal con for me.
But man, that sucks. Sorry again.
Thanks for all of this.
with the hbomb video about plagiarism, im not surprised internet hostorian got a lot wrong
those other videos just want to make money...thank you for your stories
My pleasure!
0:57 Don’t hate on Derf he was just being and the furry shown was just hostile and thought he had a fake badge
Where did you get the shirt from :00
Nomad Complex, they have a Kickstarter where you can get it on sale atm. It ends soon though.
i get what your saying...but then you show an image of "the cub club" at rainfurrest, and i cant help but feel it somewhat undermines the message your trying to convey
also the fact you say " its a small vocal minority" is kinda a go to for bad fandom behaviour to which i respond by saying "possibly, but they are the ones that seem to be in charge and are speaking FOR you, you cant blame us if you do little about them and that all we see of the furry fandom"
It was like Woodstock 99, right?
Rainfurrest's downfall is like the downfall of a con called Reactor in il
ADUM!!! My boy!!!
Yus!!!
oh boy I'm in another video hahaha @ 1:33
im a furry myself but i hate this community and cons because of my personal grudge against alkohol and other drugs, what infuriates me is that if there is a big group of furries either on vrchat or expecially on the cons there is ALWAYS narcotics, ALWAYS, and what is even more disturbing is that furries are just ok with it, even if cons are taking place in countries who strictly prohibite drinking in public spaces and taking any drugs is a serius crime, call me a nark or anything else but doing drugs is not the kind of "fun" i signed up when going to a con, i paid for dances, merch and friendly sober people, not stoned idiots
1:03 Fun Fact: Scaly House Productions is run by Jarek the Gaming Dragon.
I was there and an experienced furry.
I talked to hotel staff and sexual stuff in hotel areas killed Rainfurrest according tohotel staff.
@@Fang_Face Get over yourself. None of that happened, idiot.
We have full reports of what actually happened at the convention, stop spreading rumours and grow the hell up.
Yooo the guy at 7:55 kinda looks like Randy Lahey!! ++Respect
Thanks for posting this!
I appreciate that, thanks!
In all fairness, Izzzyzzz is certainly better than Internet Historian
I agree bro. I think Izzy didn't know about this
Some people just want to make shit up for clout.
I remember one EF (26 i think?) one Staff had her service dog with them and there were people on Twitter Posting stuff like "Hopefully you keep that dog away from all of your attendees"
Classy....
I was sad when RainFuirrest stopped being a thing in 2015.
I went from 2009 until 2014 and did not make it to 2015.
I was 3 hours from RainFurrest.
As someone who's dislocated their knees 3 times thus far, mood, guy , mood
Maaan, my friends who did get to go multiple times did tell me quite a bit about it, yeah like 95% of the stories were such BS
Say, i usually save your video to my youtube downloads so i can watch/listen at work.
Do you still get "credit" for that?
Wanna support a creator i like owo
Do whatever is best for you! I appreciate the support!
never been this early in my life
Awesome thanks!
'We have investigated ourselves and found out we have done nothing wrong. "
That is basically what they said.
Furries are degenerates. Bronies are degenerates.
right? The letter clearly says they broke stuff aka vandalism
Liar furries are degenerates.
🤣
Fun fact, your voice will sound better when your face isn’t blocked.
Omg 😲....
This id the most like I've ever gotten 😭
Hmm great video! I was like in middle school when this con happened and first heard of it in 2019 through these misinfo essays you mentioned. But I also remember hearing of the Twitter account too and now seeing Ash’s documentary really shines a good light on Rainfurest that I feel for
Great vid
Thank you I appreciate that!
that letter pointed out clear vandalism. It doesn't need the word "vandalism" to make the point you broke stuff. SMoke detector and elevator cable were VANDALIZED
Few rooms were damaged and I can add to all the people confirming the hot tub was damaged. A small group of people just went wild and broke shit.
Dude's goth the gay voice
2:27 JE SUS CHRISSSTT!!!
Thats insane 😭😭
i liked the video, please cover up the dislocated knee if you can, it was really upsetting to see
Winners don't do drugs
this is so interesting
Damm, shit really went down without the ATFC even lifting a finger-
I was there. For all of them.
*sighs* And yah
I'm early wooo!
