As a Bruins fan, congratulations, guys. Seriously, I wasn't watching the game, but I got the "series final" notification and *I* started screaming because I was so excited. Go be insane, celebrate, ignore the "They're acting like they just won the cup lol" people. You guys deserve it after this long. I'm looking at these celebrations in downtown Toronto and they're making me jealous that I'm not there and its not even my team lol. My only regret is that *we* didn't make it past the first round, a Bruins-Leaf round two would have been mental. Congrats Leafs fans.

Goaltending was the difference. Tampa’s forwards and D outplayed the Leaf’s forward and D for 90% of the series but Samsonov basically stole the entire series, or Vasilevsky handed it to the Leafs, however you want to look at it. Goaltending and a bit of puck luck. The Leafs have had exactly zero on the puck luck register for a decade, so I guess the universe thought they were due for some. But they can’t play like they did and expect the same result in round 2. If this series win can give them the confidence to play to win and not play to lose they might have a chance.

This win has reignited a spark deep inside me. The Leafs were frankly the major bond between my father and I. He died in 2001.

Congrats to the leafs players and staff from a dejected but satisfied Bolts fan here! I made my peace with the thought that we probably wouldn’t go deep these playoffs and I’m glad it was the leafs that get to move on. Yes it stings, especially because we were the better team for the majority of the series but this team has brought me so much happiness the last 10 years or so, I understand my boys could really use a long summer rest to recover and come back stronger. Wishing the leafs a deep run, make us proud to lose to you ;)

Don't do that, the refs flat out handed them game 3 on a silver platter and this one too.
@David Green don't forget it only took them taking out cernak for the entire round, an early whistle on a good goal, and missed calls. I guess leaf fans crying about wes after game one paid off.
@@davidgreen3001 how so? Refs made it “fair” with two pp each. The two the leafs got were legit. The two the lightning got were weak “evening up the calls” the refs always tend to do. If Leafs were called for that Kerfoot trip and the high stick to Hagel I wouldn’t even be mad because those were legitimate penalties. Do I need to go over the legit penalties your bolts should’ve had too? Officiating sucked games 1, 3, and 5. 2 and 4 it was a bit better and the games had a better flow. Anyways it’s playoff hockey so you’re going to get this trash officiating. It’s not as bad as the NBA so I can live with it, barely

As a 65 year old Leafs fan, who saw them WIN THE CUP live at Maple Leaf Gardens in 1963 and 1967, and get to the final 4 in 1993, I can honestly say THIS victory tonight felt almost as good. Such a huge relief, and such pride in our team. And, like you, I felt watching that handshake line was incredibly moving. Such respect. Seeing Vasilevskiy hug Sammy was SO wonderful.

Tampa played Great Vassy had a good game but this year it was the leafs time but nonetheless Tampa played well and been to three Stanley Cup Finals and won 2 Cups during that time so as a Tampa Bay fan I would not be Sad
As a leafs fan, I truly despised every single Tampa player the entire series, but now that it’s over I honestly respect the hell out of all of them. They have been insanely dominant the last 3-4 years and you’re very lucky you got to experience that
@@KA-gy3lz Even back between 2005 and 2015, when we were the brides maid and losing in the ECF then had our butts handed to us by Chicago in the final 2 games of the SCF back in 2015... then the 1st round sweep by CBJ in 2019. It finally clicked for us the last 3 years and steamrolled the league. Nothing lasts forever.
I was just stunned all series at how hungry and technically sound Tampa was. Cooper is a genius.

All of our trade deadline acquisitions came up huge this series but i just wanted to bring attention to how much of a BEAST Jake McCabe is. The hits, the passes, the defending, the amount of times he got the puck out of our zone and into the offensive zone. Huge standout for me. Honestly im just so proud of the entire lineup. Everyone showed up.
And we don’t have to worry about that 50% retained contract for what? 2 more seasons or is it 3? Lol. Dubas’s best move quickly followed by his worst by letting go of sandin for Gustafson instead of holl 💀
@Bbrooksr I think you're not realizing he traded Sandin for a first round pick to open up cap space.
Dubas for sure had a really good trade deadline and offseason. All the forwards we acquired during the trade deadline had at least a point in this playoff series, and the defensemen we acquired also did their job especially in game 6. Matthew Knies also deserves praise for how well he did in his first playoffs series.
You know who also showed up? Samsonov, who outdueled playoff Vas! Playoff Vas, the best goalie in the world, got outdueled by the unheralded Samsonov.

I started pursuing a career in Sports Media because of Steve Dangle. And as a Bruins fan I always respected the respect that even after every heartbreak he showed the Bruins fans and the team themselves. I’m going into year 5 of my post secondary because of the covid pause and I still have a minimum of 3 years left, maybe 4. Steve inspired me to stick with it and not give up on my dream because after all, he never gave up on making these videos after it would have been so easy to do so. From a Lightning fan, congrats Steve/Toronto! If we had to lose, I'm okay with it being to Toronto. Such a passionate fanbase deserves to see some success. Who knows, maybe this is the year. Boston, even if they win game 7, certainly doesn't seem invincible. The path to the cup feels wide open right now.

But seeing them win tonight, I was just so happy for Leafs nation, and Steve in particular, that I am unashamed as a Sabres fan to say I wanted the Leafs to win, for many reasons but I'll just state two of them here: I wanted to see a different team then the Lightning advance (you had your time in the spotlight TB, in plenty of sports I may add) and secondly, I WANTED TO SEE THIS VIDEO AND STEVE'S WELL DESERVED JUBILATION!!! I started watching this channel since the (in)famous 42 year old Zamboni driver video, so I haven't been here too long, but this video, I am all here for it! Congrats Leafs, and congratz Steve!!! As a 36 year old Pens fan I have been absolutely spoiled for the most part my entire life with hockey and I got emotional after they won the cup in 09 because of all the turmoil in the late 90's early 2000's of the team possibly being moved.
I know you'll never have to deal with the team possibly moving but I could never imagine the playoff drought being the way it's been in the kind of pain you guys have been going through with

As another blues fan, this is absolutely true. Despite them seeming to be a juggernaut, after the blues win in 2019, I started to feel a lot towards the leafs like I did towards the blues of the 2010s.

As enjoyable as it was to watch this curse continue, no doubt that vindication is cathartic. Now that the curse is shed, I wanna see the Leafs at least make the conference finals, if not go all the way. I'm happy for them, and I'm happy for Steve.

I have been watching Steve since I was 11. I am 21 years old now. Watched hundreds of episodes of the podcast, never missed one. Never missed a LFR win or lose. And after last night I watched this whole video with tears in my eyes because of how long this has been. This is my first time ever in my life on this earth that I will see the leafs move on. This teams means more to us and this win means the world. I’m excited to continue watching the LFR for the 2nd round. Go leafs go 💙💙💙💙 love you all
Steve, as a Finnish Leafs fan like many other games, I wasn't able to watch this game in real time. Instead I watched in the morning on the train from Helsinki to Tampere. A huge and sincere thank you to you for doing the streams. I always do my best to avoid any spoilers in the morning after a Leafs game, that's how much watching the games with you commentating and reacting over them cheers me up. So again, thank you.
Even as a Habs fan, I legit was rooting for the Leafs to finally get this moment. Partly because I love the podcast and most of Steve's videos but still. It's been a long time coming and you guys deserve it. So for once, Go Leafs go!

I’m a Canes fan here (live in Raleigh, NC), but the Leafs are my “second” team due to lots of family in the Toronto area and Ontario in general, who are all Leafs fans. After having a moment to digest what was probably one of the top five most memorable games in the 21st century last night, and the history described above, here are some observations:
1. Hockey is a blue-collar sport. Lots of hard work, and I believe the Stanley Cup is the most difficult championship in all of pro sports, hands down. Lots of reasons…try to change my mind if you wish.
2. Both of these teams are very fast-paced and highly talented teams. You can win in the regular season with gifted players, but that is NOT enough in the post-season. Will beats skill. A good example of this was back in 2019 when all four wild card teams won their series that year, I believe, because they were already in playoff mentality just trying to get in. The top teams often hit cruise control during the regular season and then lose their edge in the playoffs. Additionally, only ONE of the top 10 goal scorers in the regular season and only THREE of the top 20 point scorers in the regular season made it past the first round that year. No single player can CARRY his team through a game, unlike in other sports.
3. Sheldon Keefe managed to push his team past the first round and he was successful in doing so because he instilled consistency and a work ethic. Stick to the game plan, the results will come. This series it was apparent to me that the Leafs just outworked the Lightning. They wanted it more, and they never gave up even with the, well, terrible start in the series. But they slowly turned it around with consistency and work ethic. It was beautiful to behold. By game 6, the Bolts were spent, beaten down, no longer winning battles against the boards, spending most of the time in their end, repeatedly icing the puck, trying to stave off the inevitable. They endured an unrelenting attack for 3 ½ games and part of an OT period in game 6 until they finally broke.
4. Enduring 10+ years of Maurice, Wilson, Carlyle, Babcock…none of which could make the team gel, was painful. Particularly the Babcock years…he was quoted as saying something to the effect of “trying to outwork the other team won’t win because they are also trying to outwork you”. IMHO that is why he is no longer in it as a head coach. Babcock created discord in the locker room and was not respected. Even though Marner and Matthews had breakout scoring years, their prior coaches don’t understand TEAM like Keefe, Tavares have taught this year’s Maple Leafs.
Well done Toronto Maple Leafs!!

Steve, I'm from Portugal and I've been a fan of hockey for a few years now, and right around the same time I started watching the NHL, I discovered your videos, and started watching every single LFR because of how fun and unique it was, which made me love it. As I kept watching the NHL, I ended up becoming attached to the Lightning, but because of your videos, the Leafs kind of became my second team. I started watching them as well, and always supported them in every game (well, except when they played against the Lightning, of course). As sad as I am (which isn't that much, considering how great the last few years have been for the Lightning XD), I can't help but be happy for the Leafs and for you. Your guys deserve this, but most of all, you and the fanbase deserve this. I hope all the demons have been slayed and that the Leafs win it all this year, because why the hell not? After all, this is sports, anything can happen, and if there's any team that can do even more Impossible things even after doing what seemed impossible for so long, it's the Leafs.
Congratulations to the Leafs, they were fantastic, and congratulations to you, Steve. Thank you for being you and making me love this incredible sport even more. You're the man. 💪

@Ya Boi James We do have a beautiful country if nothing else, that's for sure, I'm glad you enjoyed it so much XD. To answer your question, it was quite random really. I was literally just scrolling through the sports channels here in Portugal late at night, which is Sport TV, and came across the Lightning playing against the Bruins, and I just couldn't stop watching since that point. Started teaching myself about the sport, checking on every stat, standings, players, trying to watch as many games as possible, and then the playoffs arrived and I got even more hooked. This was in 2018, where unfortunately we lost against the Caps in the Conference Finals, but I loved watching every single second of it, and I knew I wasn't going to stop anytime soon, even after 2019 (no need to address it, we won it all in 2020 and 2021, we can forget it). So yeah, that's basically a summary of how it happened. XD
I come back and watch this every now and then to relive the feels
I live in Florida... Just showed my girlfriend a video of Maple Leaf square and the scene after the goal was scored. She said but the game was in Tampa and all those fans stood outside and watched the game outside in Toronto... my response... that's what being Leafs fan is!!! Go Leafs Go!!!❤
