Intresting to see what people think - to me the car is still drivable (in the iracing way) , just less direct and a but more sludgy. needless to say when we were live streaming lots of people seemed really annoyed with the changes made to it. - I'm looking forward to doing some racing with the LMDh / super fast prototypes though.
Exactly. I drove at Daytona and the main difference is that the tires need a little more time to get to optimal temp, and 1st gear has a bit more torque than before.
They slowed it down because they just applied the 24 IMSA regs on it. So for realistic purposes. There are some guys on reddit (real P2 driver) who think tires are a clear step and that iRacing P2 is the best in Simracing. It was also before.
Its just more drawn out and sloppy or seemed that way to me , closer to the SR10 but not as understeery - have to see what its like with more competative setups on it personally I'm a big lmp2 fan especially for lmp2 vs gt3/gte its a nice speed for waving through traffic.
@@dannyleeracing I don't get why they could not run SR8 with SR10 as specail race every 2 hours , or why they have not put an SR3 in the sim its such a perfect prototype and entry into racing with downforce. Mind you I'm a weird radical fanboy lol
Snaching defeat from the jaws of victory.......why? Do they not have a current driver focus group? Early test of end of season updates don't count. Get Greg West on a longform interview.
The new tire model will by far be the most important change in iRacing. I tried GTP (not interested neither in GTP nor LMP2) und have to admit - this is the first time, they actually got rid of that iceracing behaviour! Which is a GOOD thing. I can't wait they roll out that model asap to other car classes. Now theses cars still have the nimbleness I would except of a high downforce, slick tire equipped car combined with a more controllable window at the tire limits (without having this ridiculous drift abilities like in AMS2 where you basically can drift any car including high powered formula cars completely through turns, which is nothing more than a joke).
Is the new GPT a new new tire model or just tweeked old tire model still ? I was under the impression that a new new tire model thats actually a new tire is not until next year.
I think lmp2 after the update drives more like the ligier now but with less feel of the tires funny enough because it was supposed to be a tire update only?
yeah, well if you think it is plausible to drift an LMP2 race car with slicks through an entire 180 degree turn - yes, than AMS2 is easiliy the best! OMG
@@iseeq72 All sims do ridiculous non realistic things. I'd like to see the vid of that btw.... I stand by my statement its a fantastic car in AMS2 arguably the best. Still plenty there I dont really like fyi just like a bunch of iracing cars suck.
While I'm a huge supporter of iRacing, it seems to me that the DLC releases are, to some extent, a case of throw stuff at a wall and see what sticks, in terms of online racing take up. They produce far more content than is really sustainable with their member base. With that said, however, the AI aspect of the game means that multiplayer take up is not actually as important as it once was. However it's still true to say that not all content is available as AI... And a cynic might suggest that killing popular series is a great way of steering folks to buy newer content...
I just race ff1600 and the new tyre model makes it slippery and unstable, less planted than before. Maybe it is more realistic, maybe not, but def was not enjoying it as much
I've been focusing on this car the past couple of weeks and I think I partially disagree with you. Yes they've removed a bit of top end and the car behaves a little differently now, but fundamentally still feels pretty much along the same lines. That they put this car as one of the first ones in the new tyre model, to me doesn't sound like they wanna kill it but rather that they gave it priority. As for the new tyre model I think - but will have to try it better - it feels slightly more similar to other sims, as in you get a bit more play beyond the limit IMO. It should overheat tyres less when abused, that is all welcome. I do think it feels slightly less nice but I'm still quite happy with it. Agreed on killing off the LMP2 fixed series, that is a change nobody wanted, and it feels like they're pushing people to the new GTPs with the new GTPs prototype challenge. That being said LMP2 fixed wasn't actually that popular, it was slowly dying off already. Now as for the GTPs speed issue. They do feel fun but I disagree with you. I think it's a fucking disgrace that they release these cars and make this huge marketing fuss about them being realistic, and then they do the same laptimes in the wet as the real cars do in the dry. 50kph higher apex speeds than the real cars in similar conditions. Sorry but that is not acceptable for a "sim", if an amateur group put that out as a free car for Assetto Corsa they'd get bad reviews, nevermind highly expensive paid official content for the "most uberduber realisticest sim that scans every bit of every car". That is just piss poor. It's even more baffling when they've correctly nerfed the LMP2 speeds.. only to do the exact opposite to the GTPs? Where's the consistency? It's hard to understand what are they even trying to do here. For me that's all particularly shocking and disappointing - not the LMP2 changes, although they could've kept the higher revs higher power model as a different spec available for practice sessions and hosted.
I'm mourning the loss of the LMP2. Ive never been so dialled into a car as i was the iRacing LMP2. Such a rewarding car to drive fast. Its no coincidence that the 9/10k drivers often drove it. Hands down was the best prototype in the sim. If they wanted to slow it a little to make it like real life, Im fine with that. But nerfing the acceleration, top speed, revs, overall handling and making the tyres feel super floaty with no bite... And doing it at the same time as making the GTP's upwards of 10 seconds a lap faster at some tracks?! I can only guess they did it to force people to spend money on new cars. Its killed the car and literally killed the Fixed series.
Lmaoo... so dramatic. I loved the old LMP2, and after a few stints after the update, I still love the LMP2. The main difference to me is how gentle you need to be on accelerating out of low speed corners. Also need to be a bit more mindful on cold tires. Don't care if it's a bit slower, it's a single make class so that doesn't matter at all. It still feels good to drive it on the limit, just slightly different than before
Lol I enjoyed them generally speaking but I'm not somone that cares about how "realistic" a sim is i just care if it drives "like a car" and if you can feel what the car is doing through the FFB.
New BMW m2 is rubbish to drive. The new debris system is a bit like the rain system. Almost great but lacking something. But overall its quite a good and large update

The LMP2 is still fine. It'a slightly slower but that's really all I noticed in my tests and Road Atlanta and Sebring.
