    I pay for the DLCs because this sim has mega potential and has brought me so much satisfaction while driving on it. I want the community to grow and game to stay alive therefore I'm fine paying for the new content. It's my way of supporting the game and the devs since they've been working hard and they also have to feed their families, and it's worth it to me based on the amount of enjoyment the sim has given me. At the end of the day I just want others to realize and appreciate the amount of detail and realism that goes into LMU

    F1 23 - 300 hours of gameplay at £60. £0.20/h and I considered that good value for money for 1 year.
    LMU - 160 hours and counting at ~£25. £0.15625/h and I will play this title for a lot longer (as long as it continues to exist)
    Even with the Season Pass this works out to £0.47/h and I've only owned the title for 3 months.
    I try to look at it in terms of satisfaction derrived over the outright price. I think the title is awesome (kinks and all) though I hope they are ironed out ASAP.

    On your point at the end, I share with you the frustration of accepting the price structure of some sim racing games, but consumers are the ones allowing this to happen. Iracing has probably the worst pricing model and yet, it is still the most popular sim and they have been very successful. Why wouldn’t others try to replicate? We as consumers should not allow this to happen, but as long as we keep feeding their greed, they wont stop.

    • @mvpdustin843
      @mvpdustin843 23 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      People don’t understand. Price is booth iracings biggest negative and positive. Sure the cars are expensive and sure you can get similar or better content in other games but it keeps so many idiots away. Once you are out of lower license classes racing is just amazing. There is nothing like the imsa multiclass series. Content is irrelevant. As long as people like the cars and people drive fairly they gonna like it.

    • @mvpdustin843

    • @namesii1880
      @namesii1880 23 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +2

      It is time to take a step back and actually look at what you get for your money. For me 12 dollars for a single track or, even a car is fine ultimately. The content takes months of work by people working in a very niche space. This isn't like CoD or similar live service slop where you are paying 25 dollars for some basic skins while the company rakes in billions of revenue. You can get a track that is virtually a 1:1 recreation of a real place for less money than some games charge for a simple recolor of your weapon.

      @@mvpdustin843 I race on AMS2, ACC and AC for free on LFM, and on LMU for free and I didn’t notice any difference with Iracing. Once you get your safety rating up, you race with people that have the same racing standards as Iracers. I did the Iracing 3 months membership twice and one month once in the last year or so and I think I have enough races on it to compare. I think what you mentioned is just another sim racing myth and a way to excuse our excessive spending and the devs greedy business model. I’m not hating on Iracing specifically, I’m criticizing us consumers for being so gullible and allow this to happen. This isn't a new way to do business, iracing when it launched originally would be attacked violently today for what it was. It was so bare bones and broken in so many ways. But we all paid for it and used it anyway. Nothing has changed just some products on the market are more mature now.

  • @babar2057
    @babar2057 17 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

    What some people in the comments fail to grasp is that the market for sim racing has never been more rich in content. We have many high quality consumer simulators available and fighting for your time and money, so just having a "realistic" driving simulator isn't enough.
    Those who are upset about the pricing for the DLC's and subscription model have every right to be - S397 is evidently trying to target the iracing demographic of players with their online multiplayer system - the private servers that they've implemented recently are only available through paid hosted servers, and S397 removed the ability to host your own dedicated server like you could in rfactor2.
    The arguments saying S397 is justified in their pricing model because they need to make money undermines the crux of the issue, which is that S397 chose to make an online focused esports-like racing service in a market that is fiercely competitive, and people will not easily accept subscriptions or season passes for a game that is new and unproven in the long term.

No doubt I'll have it one day... but at the moment I''ll pass because I see a lot of mentions about game stability, I do not see why they continue to release content without the basics being solid?? I would have already bought it even with less content if the core aspects were polished.

    100% with you on the business model the went with. It feels strange to do but I'm fine with paying them for early acces to test the game for them. I have the base early acces version and I refuse to pay full DLC price for a game that is still in early acces. To me this is rediculous. I understand that they are a strugling studio and they need the money to survive but I don't think this is the way. I even think this will hurt their sales. I know the early acces price is not what you normally pay for a full game but it is still very much lacking content at the price point compared to other sims available. I know people keep telling me how awesome it is to drive and I agree that it feels nice when it works.. the problem that it does not work a lot of the time. I have a minimum of 2 crashes everytime I start the game before I can finally get in a race.

    I honestly don’t get why people are happy to pay for DLC when a game is 1.0 but not when a dev team say it’s EA. Technically AMS2 was in EA for 4.5 years until 1.6 came out and folks happily bought DLC. LMU could easily say right now the game is 1.0 and I think they will turn it to 1.0 when the fourth pack releases as a way of celebrating all content being available. Support your devs, stop making up ridiculous rules about DLC and enjoy! If steam allow it, why are folks making up weird rules and expectations about DLC?

    • @LargeStyle
      @LargeStyle 15 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +3

      It's a (mis)prioritisation issue / concern - some consumers don't like to financially support additional content when they've already paid to support and want to play the main product which remains incomplete and is being ignored. This problem is exacerbated when you factor in that people likely bought into rF2 and it's endurance content, only for that project to be abandoned but then repackaged by the same devs and using the same engine, just to cash in on it being a new title so that they avoid going bust. I kinda get how their survival instincts came up with this plan, but because they're screwing over both loyal rF2 fans and even LMU fans that simply want a finished base game, their cash-before-morals approach doesn't sit well with a lot of people, including myself.
      If you still don't understand it - how would you like it if you bought a prototype car but it was mechanically incomplete / unsound, and when you took it back to the manufacturer to get it fixed they instead spent all their time and focus adding optional extras? Anyone in their right mind would be: WTF you doing? Fix the damn car first.
      Also, you're way off the mark with AMS2's EA period - that started on March 31st 2020 and came out of EA with V1.0 on June 30th 2020.
      I don't have LMU mainly because of their immoral practices, but from what I've gathered online, LMU is not "easily" complete / V1.0 material yet by a considerable margin.

      @ that’s why I put technically that it was. Each update since 1.0 was to fix how fundamentally broken it was from a driving experience. I’ve had it since day one, I bought all the DLC to show support as I wanted it to succeed, but I had double figure hours played because of how garbage the physics and handling were from 1.0 to 1.5, it was unplayable. Now finally it’s an actual 1.0 game that’s worth playing. Steam charts don’t lie this is the first update where AMS2 has kept its player count post an update and I’m included in that.

      @@LargeStylepretty much all the “shady” people have been removed from the company and Stephen Hood is doing all interviews and Update videos to help with company previous image. They aren’t the same company and also have produced an awesome new game for us all to enjoy. I love sim racing and the more sims the better! I don’t allow politics, or previous CEO’s or previous practices stop me from enjoying myself. I don’t like some of the nonsense that Morrissey comes out with or his life decisions, but that’s never going to stop me listening to Smiths albums. Why cut my nose to spite my face? I put technically AMS2 was EA until 1.6 because it was trash and it was mainly laughed at because of the physics. I bought all DLC to show support to AMS2 even though the game sucked and I had way under 100 hours in game in 4.5 years. This is the first update where AMS2 kept its player count after one weekend after a new update, which includes me, steam charts don’t lie. This is why I say technically AMS2 was EA until the end of November 2024, because prior to that it wasn’t a sim and it wasn’t worth playing unless you enjoyed hot lapping and power sliding in a weather simulator. Dare I mention the greyed out career tab? If you love WEC content and love racing online you are missing out not having LMU! I’ve played LMU more in the last three days ( I waited for vr beta release before playing ) than I did AMS2 in 4.5 years!

    Remember the days of paying 49.99 for a game...and it was done. Now you pay 44.99....then 14.99...then 14.99...then 4.99. Then they see if ya wanna pay 24.99 a year too keep playing with new stuff. Yeah its cool game can stay up to date and yadda yadda. I guess I just miss the simple old days. You bought a game and it was done, and it worked! Cause it was TESTED! lol

    Its a subscription where you have to pay a year upfront. They are pretty desperate.financially. No.self-hosted servers no buy for me.

    Really curious how much potential customers they lost with the dlc in early acces. I know 5 people alone (including me)that will not buy this game before a deep deep sale because of that.
