In this very special episode of TRS, we have with us ‪@Keerthihistory‬. We spoke about all things in Tamil culture, from films, to dance to dating lives and different perspectives.
Tamil Nadu’s history, culture, and politics were the key highlights of this beautiful podcast. Tamil Nadu is a culturally rich region that has remained connected to its ancient history. The state is home to many revolutionary figures and political parties that have pushed for independence.
Many Tamil girls are open to dating North Indian guys, and many Tamil boys are attracted to Malayali girls. This was a major section in the episode that led to great fun and laughs when discussing love interests for Ranveer. Hope you enjoy this episode...
    (0:00) - Keerthika x Ranveer begins
(3:10) - Untold history of India
(7:10) - Tamil perspective on Indian independence
(8:50) - What is the Dravidian moment?
    (11:40) - General perspective of a Tamilian
(21:10) - Education in Tamil Nadu
    (24:40) - Pride of being a Tamilian
(27:10) - Pride of being Hindu in Tamil Nadu
    (31:45) - Tamilians on Sadhguru
(40:00) - Capitalist and Business Outlook of Tamil Nadu
(46:35) - GenZ of Tamil Nadu
(50:54) - Stardom around Kamal Haasan and Rajnikanth
(54:00) - Cinema culture in Tamil Nadu
(59:30) - Opinion on North Indian guys

The society conditions you from a young age in Tamil Nadu . Hate Hindi is a political ideology for most of the millennials who grew up in Tamilnadu in the late 90s. Taking risks to become an entrepreneur or to go against the normal is mostly discouraged by the family or society . Chasing wealth is frowned upon in Tamilnadu .

You truly are preserving the true culture and traditions of India even today, while the rest of India is deliberately forgetting them. In fact, this is the result of distorted history education that we suffer from. If Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose had been the first Prime Minister of India, we would not have to see India in this condition !

Then you better know there is immense love for southern Indians in Northern India. It is only in Southern India, I realised there is some kind of hatred due to their politicians and the Aryan Invasion Theory used to pollute minds of even class 6 students.

@@BharatS7749 ya, its absolutely true.. As the media is in the hands of politicians, they only show those news, which they want the people to know, no matter it is true or false.. This thought has been build up from years and years. So, It will take time to change the mindset of the people towards north Indians.. It is changing and It will change for sure..

@@ParidhiKrishn There is a school in our place opened by a Malayalee single woman. She reached their bcas of church, left nunhood and Christianity, started her own school and running it for 50 yrs now. Try to imagine the kind of love and acceptance she has got by all stranger North Indians. She is still there.
One Madrasi aunty ( that time Chennai was Madras) was our neighbour for three yrs before going back to Madras. Many years later, After Shashtiapoorti Pooja, her husband wanted to take her to any part of India. She only wanted to visit her old neighbours in the North India. She came and met us, she had forgotten every word of little Hindi that she had learnt🙂. Try to imagine this. Your heart will melt at these real love stories. It was shocking to see some kind of hatred in south in general people. Then dived deep and found how school teachers teach AIT so elaborately in school to sow seeds of hatred. Then came across extensive study over AIT by Dr. Raj Vedam, a Tamil in MIT and then realised it is only politicians that nurture on hatred.

    @BeerBiceps - as a tamilian from Chennai
Few things to mention if at all you get to this comment
    1. Tamil people respect and promote modesty ,humility and humbleness that being said you’re not penalised for the contrary - most celebrities own materialistic things that indicate status and it’s not frowned upon
    2. Parents are very involved in their children’s lives
    3. Alcohol, smoking , partying , night life is generally societally frowned upon
    4. Curfews are big thing - even as a 25 year old professional parents expect their children (yes the 25year old is still a child in their twisted mind ) to be home on time or be well informed if any delays
5.Hindi is hated as it’s forced upon us - given the choice people will take it up
    6. Political awareness depends on the person and your upbringing - I personally like to think it’s a rationale choice
    7. We don’t expect you to speak Tamil fluently - but the effort to attempt to understand our traditions , culture , language will not go unnoticed

Alcohol, smoking , partying , night life is generally societally frowned upon - This is actually progressive. Corporates want you to think otherwise because they can't influence you without this.
Hindi is hated as it’s forced upon us - given the choice people will take it up - No, Hindi is not hated, it's only the imposition attempt which is hated.

And if he realised wwhat he did was wrong he never felt shameful to accept it openly... He accepted that what I did was wrong later I realised.... Being a North Indian living in Singapore I know a lot of Tamil friends and they are well cultured, deeply rooted to their traditions and have a beautiful language. It should be us learning their language too. The reason being Tamil is lot more complicated than Hindi, and has some wonderful literature, some of their words we cannot even speak properly and their passion towards their language is something to learn for all the North Indians who sometimes feel ashamed in talking in Hindi usually on a foreign soil.

2.But Use english as only temporary basis only for communicating non-hindi listeners that too after recognising it as foreign language .
3.Other than this ,just start using sanskritised hindi right now in place of Hinglish or urdu mixed hindi.
      4...TARGET-
      1st lang- local language
2nd - sanskritised hindi eventually target of using samskritam as 2nd language.
3rd lang- english as foreign language until indian become self reliant in business/development.
5.Using samskritam , we can have least confusions and more information can be transfereed in less words.
6.💯💯💯Most important- after learning samskritam ,noone can fool us by misquoting our hindu scriptures as we will have advantage after learning sanskrit to counter the manipulator

I am from Tamilnadu, living now in Karnataka. Understand both the cultures. Keerthi is right in 99.9% about the tamils. However, the influence of Dravidian parties aspect is huge. When I came from Tamilnadu to do pursue my college in Karnataka, I had a huge pride and I was always arguing with all my Kannidiga friends that Tamil is the most old language and Kannada emerged from that. The proud kannadigas spoke against that, but they were never fanatic about that. This helped me to come out and look at the culture and the language(Kannada) openly. I stopped myself stating that Tamil is superior than other languages. However Kannadigas, the filmdom was also not so famous then, hence they listened to lot of hindi songs, than tamil songs. They never had a problem accepting hindi, like the tamilians. I slowly came out of that vicious thinking of not learning a language like Hindi. I could learn Kannada in 1 to 1.5 months, due to the similarity with Tamil. However, that time there was only doordarshan and I learnt hindi from it and listened to lot of hindi songs. Then I understood, how foolish I was to resist a language without any basis. Though I love tamil, now I became open to the beauty of Kannada and Hindi. Made my life far better, beautiful and loved the hindi and Kannada songs. Being a bridge between Tamil friends and Hindi friends in my higher studies became easier and became popular in both sides. I found lot of sanskrit and tamil influence in varying percentages in Kannada, telugu & malayalam. This made my mind so open and starting understanding the dubious culture of the dravidian parties(especially DMK). Karnataka is a very open minded society than Tamilnadu, in acceptance of others, though they have equal pride about being a kannadiga, like tamilians. Lot of things in learn from them by Tamil guys. However, as discussed, the richness intellectually is good in south india. North India has its own charm, though I have been very little to north. Knowing Hindi really helped in my Bhutan trip, as everyone understood hindi. Even in Odisha. If Tamilians stop listening to the Dravidian politicians, they will learn and grow much more faster. As in Mumbai, there are plenty of tamilians who has learnt Hindi very easily and live a good life. Great podcast, though a little it looked like two teenagers, eyeing each other and talking more about love. May be I found that part a little off my limit, due to my midlife(age), found the conversation very interesting. Never wrote such a big comment in youtube till now

And one more thing. I want to add because of local politics south Indian people feel that they were descriminated by north people. So they don't show interest to learn other languages like Hindi. Learning hindi is so important when you travel outside of the south India. We strict to only our language, because of that students Lossing some opportunities as well. Tamil hindus and malayali hindhus don't know Hindi then Muslims living in both the states. I felt it's a game play. When you go out to do job in other parts of India, definitely they give priority to the Hindi known language applicant. Why I am putting this is because I faced the same challenge.

As a core dravidian ideologist, who has studied this ideology for past 20+ years,
I am from TAMIL NADU and will try to summarise the ideology into its core basic structure consisting of two major world-views :
Dravidian ideology = Humanism (+Plus) Scientific temper
Strangely one of the fundamental duties of Indian constitution captures dravidianess inadvertently in legal terminology :
    Article 51-A(h) :
“To develop the scientific temper, humanism and the spirit of inquiry and reform”
This is the crux of Dravidian ideology.
Periyar in a Tamil nationalistic conference : in front of DMK leaders, Tamil nationalistic leader clarified much to the embarrassment of leaders who invited him.
“He has no deshiabimanam or bashabimanam only Humanism with scientific temper”
Everything else is derived from these two worldviews only.

I'm a 21 year-old from Chennai, Tamil Nadu. I think Keerthi grew up in an interior part of TN so her views are different. 80% of what she said is absolutely true but the scene is completely different in a city like Chennai. Tinder and Bumble are not so prevalent but people are certainly into casual relationships, especially teens and college students. TN is very progressive but at the same time conservative even amongst the other south Indian states in aspects like dressing and grooming. I'm a Political Science graduate so I found the interplay between films and politics that Keerthi discussed very superficial as there is much more to it. It's not people,it's political parties with a north Indian base, the old Jan Sangh ,Congress and the present avatar BJP, why do they want official communication between central govt offices in Hindi, and also you can attempt civil services exams in Hindi, giving North Indians a huge advantage.

As a Tamizhan I respect her opinion. her cultural views are actually great. But there are issues in her statements in political perspective of the land.
firstly yes, dravidian movements happened with the proposal of separate nation, but the real meaning of dravidam is all against the aaryan / sanatanic culture. dravidians are secularistic always standing with the oppressed side people. it is more of an ideology than identity .
then about hating northern people , yes some of the people faced the issue , we are ashamed about that fact , but in general you could come and see how many people have come and settled here and ask them about us how much of welcoming people we are.
indian independence movement have actually started from here but the national parties are refusing the fact and never mentioned about us in their syllabus and she is speaking about our syllabus that as its been filled with bullshit.
we have literatures which are well written 2000 years ago , and national parties think sanskrit is the oldest language .
atleast she is against about the hindi imposition which was the major reason for the dravidian movement . if the movement didn't occur she would have been the hindi girl whose langauge would have swallowed by hindi.
And about raja raja chozha being hindu issue, we had several religion over here in the past (such as saivam, vainavam, koumaram, samanam, buddhism) but hinduism is never one of them.
every hindu who you mentioned are actually proudly say they are hindu here , but we are refusing the politicians who comes and tries to separate us in the name of religion and caste and we cast the vote thinking rationally than nationally.
And annamalai is definitely not the super power leader here, they exist here only because of the past dravidian alliances, in this PM election you will come to know how much TAMIL NADU IS AGAINST BJP .
Major difference is we are pride about our land , language and culture , but we are not big braggers about that, and the thought behind is if you brag about something you are indirectly belittling someone.
    P.s : I skipped the part about satguru , Thanks !

She has spoken out like a common person' who understands history and culture from social media. That could partly be why it resonates so well with folks who look at Tamil Nadu from outside and their biases are all reassured.
If she has been brought to a podcast and claims to be a historian, and has strong opinions then I think She should reflect the ground reality and do more research.

REPLY TO KIRTI DIDI ON LANGUAGE ISSUE AND HINDI:-
1.Original language is samskritam and follow it on daily basis is impossible rightnow.
So,Use heavily sanskritised hindi as all nortern indian languages emerged from samskritam along with local north indian languages as all local languages was emerged from mother language samskritam
      OR
      7. WE CAN DO OUR SPIRITUAL UPLIFTMENT IN BETTER WAY AFTER KNOWING SANSKRIT BY PROPER UNDERSTANDING VEDS,PURANS ETC.

This was a discussion with a small town tamil girl. It would have been the same had this been with some small town north Indian girl as well. Chennai is a different ball game. It's too incorrect for her to generalise tamil culture having seen Chennai just 3-4 times.
Also she seems to have an appreciation for north Indians without having gone to the hindi heartland. She knows nothing about what "madraasi" slurs she will subjected tol can do to her opinion on why dravidian identity will then start making sense.
All those tamil intellectuals who founded and have run the dravidian identity were not mindless idiots. It's not just politics, it was about identity. Culture can be talked of only after identity is preserved first.
