Thanks! :) How to install Path Tracing Mod for Resident Evil 2 Remake: github.com/praydog/REFramework/actions/runs/8888177993 1. Download the RE2 archive (make sure you have signed in into your Github account). 2. Extract the dinput8.dll file from the archive into the Resident Evil 2 folder next to the main re2.exe file. 3. (Optional but recommended) Download the UpscalerBasePlugin archive: www.nexusmods.com/site/mods/502?tab=files 4. Download the nvngx_dlss.dll file: www.techpowerup.com/download/nvidia-dlss-dll/ 5. Extract the PDPerfPlugin.dll file from the UpscalerBasePlugin archive and the nvngx_dlss.dll file into the Resident Evil 2 folder next to the main re2.exe file. 6. Launch the game, the REFramework window should appear, head to the Temporal Upscaler option and choose DLSS. 7. After enabling DLSS, head to the graphics option in the REFramework window and enable Ray Tracing Tweaks. After that choose Pure Path Tracing. 8. Play the game with DLSS 3.7 and Path Tracing.
A few important notes: 1. While in RE4 the most noticeable improvement with Path Traced rendering was Path Traced GI, RE2's biggest improvement are Path Traced shadows. There is an improvement in GI with Path Tracing as well, but it is less visible due to different level design compared to RE4, and just like in RE4, Path Tracing also improves RT reflections by adding more reflective surfaces to the game. 2. This Path Tracing mod doesn't have any denoiser at the moment. At 4K it's not a big issue though. 3. Custom FOV was used in this video for better viewing. It's part of REFramework, so no additional mods were installed. 4. DLSS related issue: with Path Tracing and DLSS enabled, the image will have a very noisy look with white shimmering pixels on the whole screen in motion. To fix this you'll need to "allow engine TAA" in the debug options of temporal upscaler, but the image may look a bit more blurry.
Unlike RE4, RE2 uses some light form of RTGI. That is why the difference is less noticeable in terms of lighting quality in this game. This in-engine RTGI actually provides great results in terms of graphics quality/performance ratio. What a shame they removed RTGI from graphics options in RE4, although earlier the developers added it to RE2 and RE3 Remakes and to RE7 as well. P. S. The easiest way to eliminate those sparkling dots is to disable "bloom" in the game graphics options. This way you will get sharp image without any artifacts. I would not recommend to use "allow engine TAA" option at all, as it destroys image quality completely and no sharpness filter can help to restore it.
There's no Temporal Upscaler appears in REframework. I've tried different version of dinput8.dll and still nothing. PDPerfPlugin.dll and nvngx_dlss.dll are already in the folder next to re2.exe. Please help
The devs did a really good job in getting close to the Path Traced reference image at twice the FPS with the standard renderer. It's likely that in 5 years, when mid-range GPUs are about as fast as a 4090, devs will just skip this step and the Path Traced renderer will just become the regular renderer in new games.

the thing is path tracing simulates real light by calculating particle physics or wave physics of light using the inbuilt hardware in an RTX card. The calculation is on such a small scale even the tensor cores on RTX 4090 fail to get much fps.
Combination of two things actually. 1) There's no Denoiser to filter that out so what you're seeing is previous frame data as the hair moves across her body. 2) The first point in combination with DLSS makes it much worse as DLSS is working with that non-denoised frame data at at the same time. In the end, it produces a terrible ghosting effect for hair, which isn't usually a problem in games that are made with Path Tracing fully enabled, unlike here where it has to be turned on in-game via a mod. - Ray Tracing involves per-pixel traced shadows and reflections across surfaces, and does not include GI or indirect illumination, as no light bounces are calculated. The "Ray Traced" side of the video shows none of these, just mapped/raster shadows and baked/global lighting.

path tracing is good for photo mode, I wouldn't like to play with less visibility and half the frame rate.
So play ta rd cod and ta rd fortnite, no need PT in that ta rd games. Ign orant
watch the remake get another remake in the future, and it'll be made with the newest re engine, with official path tracing support
Path Tracing will be fun on a 5090.
PT is just funny on all rtx 4000 cards
Not sure that extra shadow immersion is worth 50% fps
Hi Bro I am going to buy a pc soon and these are the specs of the pc:
Ryzen 5 3600
B450m ds3H
RAM 16 gb 3600mhz
256 nvme
1tb hard drive
Rtx 2070 super 8gb rgb ( used )
Rgb casing
So do you think I should buy this or go with with 3050 8gb new card.
I want it for unreal engine 5 and blender, maya ,3ds max
definitely 2070 super it's WAY better than a 3050. The 3600 is ok-ish but a little weak... try and save for a 5600x
just dont buy cards now, wait the next gen
If that's your the only options, then go for R5 3600 + RTX 2070s.
@@MxBenchmarkPC Thanks for your reply but do you think for unreal engine 5 2070 will be better than 3050
@@SamuelMartinez-wl3xk I have been waiting for a long time but now I think I should buy it
I game i would love to see use this would be the last of us remake. It already looks almsot photorealistic, with path tracing it would look even better..
Jesus Christ as Leon would say 😂
😂
Can RE3 do the same thing?
None of the RE games have true Ray Tracing, in fact there aren't many games that do even now, Ray Tracing becomes an increasingly dumber investment as the years go by, this mod looks great and Minecraft's PTGI shaders look great but no other game really has good ray tracing implementation, the performance hit is also too much, in this case 90FPS is really good but you're still losing 60FPS which is a big deal.
It's even darker now, people will turn the brightness setting to ultra lol
Just like it should in real life.
@@abhirupkundu2778 i guess yeah
imagine using SSAA 4x + Path Tracing on, it will be perfect
Mmh no. All antialiasing techniques are useless with DLSS
Can I have the name of the music?
P.T. Adamczyk - Just Another Weapon (Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty OST).
@@MxBenchmarkPC You sure do love using phantom liberty music on all your showcases! It's such an incredible track, I cannot blame you haha. It's surprisingly fitting too.
No idea how people were able to make shadows in all game pre RTX era.
Infact rasterization is dead because don't give the right effects of lights and shadows
it crashes for me when initializing reframework
For anyone else having this issue. It is related to the upscaling/dlss part of reframeworks. I delete that and it works but then I get horrendous performance. Duh
AMAZING!!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩
i can't see shit with path tracing
there, that's the difference
Pt is what we were told RT was suppose to be but neither is worth the performance hit
Another ign orant
First game to support ray tracing was Battlefield 5 and it had only ray-traced reflections. Don`t know who told you ray tracing was supposed to be Path tracing. Path tracing is the method used in CGI in movies and they spend days just to render a 30 seconds scene. How do you want to run a game with Path tracing on todays hardware without the performance hit? If you have no idea about any of this stop talking bs on internet pal.
@@OmnianMIU Yea...there`s load of them.
Please someone mod DLSS ray reconstruction to this or any other denoiser 😉. It would be awesome!
I will need direct implementation to the game engine itself. This mod only activated path tracing feature that is hidden in the game engine
Too bad a lot of mods do not work with RT version of the game.
Did it works on RX 6800XT?
yeah but, like a 20fps
@@freddyespinoza5115 so, its junk then. I hate nvidia)
Path tracing reduce like half of the fps that's crazy
Damn path tracing looks stunning but i rather play with high fps,but the future for video cards sure looks promising.

Ah ok, because is more important have 200fps instead the realism in a game like this, right brainless?
you can use this at 4k and maintain 60fps. wtf are you saying? unless you use the knife at 120fps, you don't really need the fps to be higher than 60.
@@OmnianMIU Yeah, right. Fps is always better. Who cares for realism in games are brainless. Game is gameplay.
@karnadon76 Fps is better for you because you play at competitive games right? I don't give a f... about this ta rd games like cod or fortnite. I play games with a story, only single player. I don't give a f... about fps. Ok? I want realism graphic in new videogames. The world is full of people like me
@@OmnianMIU then play games at 20fps
que loco con ray tracing se nota sombras inexactas y mal acabadas hechas desde la implementacion del juego too para resaltar el path tracing, simplemente cuando se habia visto que hicieran eso hasta con render normal se notaban mejor las sombras.
the performance hit is not worth it imo
@@gamingtemplar9893 no thanks, we don't need console's games experience
5090 for the win soon
Most of the difference is just improved shadows which can be done well using traditional methods as proven by The Last of Us.
Shut the f*** up. How is the not not worth it when you get an average of 80-90 fps? Is Resident Evil CS-GO, and you need 300+ fps?
@@Dark-qx8rk So the same thing stands for Cyberpunk 2077? Is that what path tracing goes? Improve shadows?
On new games is mostly useless but on old games is amazing
If I sell both my ps5 and switch oled including my game..I don’t think I can afford rtx4080 let alone the pc set 😂
Wowo Zombie with Ghost ing ;) , duet
Hate it when raytracing actually makes everything look fugly, flat and dry as f xd
Wow, how biased is that ray tracing!?
With all due respect, what a misleading video, neither the left is ray-tracing nor the right is path-tracing.
All I'll say is, ray traced reflections is shit.. It tanks performance and it barely makes a difference. Now path tracing... That's where its at. Games that use it on console are Dragons Dogma 2, Ark Survival Ascended, and Fortnite lol. Hopefully we get more.
this looks better than Alan Wake 2!
Massive reduction in performance but wow
Path tracing on these RE games is pretty much RT done well because devs did a horrible job..
The only advantage of path tracing besides the obvious details of the scenery is that the characters' faces look much more realistic in the light
Path tracing looks more cinematic
for the mere cost of 100 fps lol
Dev sayed them that is not Path Tracing its stupid reShade ))))
In Skyrim or Fallout, with ENB or just a mod you can get better illumination than this with a lot more FPS. This is not hate or something but i think RE engine is optimized like sh*t. I just play Dragon's Dogma and can't believe how bad it works. Cyberpunk looks 10 times better and work perfectly today
How much ign orant person here talking about path tracing without know how it work
